I remember a slide in a San Francisco park made out of an old jet with the center line intake being the exit to start the top of the slide. The cockpit was modified to crawl into.
I think it was an F-100.

Oak meadow park (Vasona) in Los Gatos also has a playground with a t33a jet, an old firetruck and a train that goes around the park

I grew up across the street from the park. It was completed in 1976. That M-41 used to be parked at the Plano Community College (now gone) on Custer Rd, just north of Ironside Dr. The small building north of the church is all that remains of the college. The tank was parked adjacent to the road between the buildings. When it was moved to Liberty Park, it was originally left unlocked & without the ladders that were later welded to the hull. Yes, it was the best piece of playground equipment in the park. My brothers and I would get inside of it and lock the hatches from within. The engine was gone, but the rest was intact and functional. We would sit for hours waiting on some unsuspecting kid to show up (sometimes with a parent) and get on the hull. I'm sure during the summer it was well over 120 degrees in there, we didn't care. At the time, all the periscopes were functional, so we had 360 degree vision of the tank from within. When another kid (or kids) got on the tank, we'd stay real quiet. They always liked to get out on the gun tube and sit on it like a teeter totter. As soon as they got seated on the tube, we'd drop the barrel, causing them to fall off, the quickly raise it back to where it was. Sometimes the kids would get on the hull and hang out. Our remedy was to traverse the turret and either knock them off, or scare them off. Sometimes we'd have parents knocking on the sides asking if anybody was in there. Obviously we never answered. A few years later, they welded the hatches shut (including the one under the driver's seat) and put the ladders on it. Today it looks about the same, except some of the periscopes are busted and or painted over. It would be a great restoration project as the inside should be as it was all those years ago.

A giant hunk of steel baking in the Texas sun becomes a play thing. Reminds me of my childhood and the 30ft high metal slide.

At the time, the end of WW2 I imagine the returning soldiers seemed like heros to kids. I kinda understand it. It's like having a batmobile parked in your playground
