Thank you for posting. I miss the old Boston Garden immensely. My father is actually the person who designed and sold the air conditioning to Delaware North For The Shamut Center aka TD Bank Garden back in 1994/95. He will be retiring in July. We both livebin Long Island for the last 20 plus years. I miss going to Celtics and Bruins games with him at the Garden. There was nothing like the old Boston Garden. Well, theres Fenway Park and they sort of saved that even though it has gone massive renovations. Boy I miss the old days when a bunch of guys would pee in a trough, lol.
Remember when the Hawks won game Five of their playoff series vs the Celtics at Boston Garden that spring of '88. Still think that's the biggest win they've had since theyve been in Atlanta. Great to see this piece again 36 years later.
This must have been the TBS-based Atlanta station doing a whiny, pre-emptive study on the Garden before the HAwks came in there. Greatest arena ever, but don't tell those who want it to be like some generic hotel with no character. Definitely '88 here.
Hi Andrew...Yeah, we were the Atlanta-based station but not whining. Just looking for another goofy feature to have a few laughs. Loved the Garden. Thanks for commenting.
1:30 in, guy casually having a cigarette in the seats. In the last few years of the building they'd make you move to the concourse entry ways, but you could still see the court/rink.
It was a catastrophic firetrap and the exemptions from the "build something that won't kill everyone inside if it goes up" regulations finally expired.

Great piece, thanks for posting. I miss those days. The TD Garden is starting to make its own history but it will never be the same.
Hey Tommy...Thanks for the comment. I had a lot of freedom at TBS back in the day and doing goofy stuff like this was always a blast.

Original floor court was also 4 seasons after 1995
80's
This can't be 1987..that infamous "fog over" in the NHL Finals between the Edmonton Oilers and Boston Bruins happened in 1988..but, funny, A+ stuff..
Good catch, Cat. My normally reliable memory for dates finally failed me! Thanks for the comment...and for the correction.
No probs. Tell Neal and Thulin I said hi lol..miss the old time Turner Sports crew...
