- In an attempt to help a friend I got into a mess of trying to clear a barn and a field of older scrap cars. So after seeing this 1972 C10 Cheyenne sitting for 18 years I decided to see if I could make it run and drive. Follow along on this journey as I pull this time capsule from it's grave and give it a glimpse of it's former glory. #willitrun #barnfind #chevyc10

Who knew that under all that muck and straw there was a living classic? Oh ... Buff's Garage did! Fun project!
It was a pretty intense smell for sure, and that's with the temps being below freezing.. Can't image the smell now that it's warmed up! Thanks for watching.
@@BuffsGarageYou're welcome. Always do. Just glad you don't have smell-o-vision. Lol!
many of these barn finds look almost like they built the barn around the car or truck . . . .
Dalton gave you some good stuff
He’s a great friend for sure
You got guts starting up the old motor like that-- great work!
Not sure if its guts or stupidity.. but we made it happen!
New viewer from watching Polebarn. I enjoy barn find vids.
Thanks for coming over! Appreciate the support!
First time watched, totally enjoyed thanks for the content.👍
Thanks for watching
Nice find
Great find! A nicely optioned truck in its day! next one down from the Chyanne Super. So many aftermarket parts available for that! I dig them aluminum wheels you put on the right side of the truck. That piece you found was out of a GM HEI distributor that plugs into the module and pickup. I like that scope from DEPTECH!
LOVE that truck, brother! Good job getting her running again! Fun video! A+++++
Thanks Dr Lee! Always appreciate your support
That 305 runs pretty dam good I can't wait to see this pick up transform channel is great
Thanks for watching! I appreciate the comment and support..
No test drive is complete until it stalls out and coasts to a halt
I thought it was fitting
My brother appreciate you from saving This 72 Chevy truck.
That part looked like the electronic ignition module they go under the rotor inside distributor took the place of points and condenser set up
Great video Buff !
Thank you! I appreciate the support
Pole barn garage sent me.
Beautiful Job Buff Nice truck
Thanks for watching!
Cool video brotha, killer editing!
Thank you!
Please do a “Pole Barn” tractor paint job on that beauty
I’m considering it. Olive needs to be olive again
nice to see people saving the classics even if its just saving for parts you know...subscribed
Thanks for subscribing
Great video, thank you for your sharing!
Appreciate it
I cant wait to see part 2 Buff. This truck has lots of potential! Its a pretty clean unit and one of my favorite eras of trucks.
Thanks! Let’s see how things evolve. Gotta save my pennies to make it happen
@@BuffsGarage i hope or wish someone would help fund you on this one that truck needs to be saved and maybe even do a pan drop on trans with new filter and fluid save it too and dont forget rear axle checking fluid in that but every show i watch never see a thing about the transmissions and that should be the first thing anyone services with a new car or used. if it cant survive a pan drop and new filter and fluid it was already dead
i have an 89 fluid was rough when i bought it but so far two changes and 4 years and no telling how many miles been all over oklahoma arkansas kansas and texas with it so who knows almost 100k???
Like the vidio keep after it you'll get it don't give up..
My buddy had stopped on his way home from a road trip because he saw a 65 c-20 Chevy off the road. He stopped knocked on the door and realized the house was abandoned but someone was still keeping cows there so he left a note on the truck. There was a path next to it where someone had been driving so he figured someone would notice and left. 4 months later he got a call from the guy and he told him he neeeded to get rid of it. So he drove back up there 2 hours away and got to looking at it and realized the frame was completely rotted in half. But the guy had mentioned he had some old ford tractors in his barn so they went and looked and he found a 62 four door Impala with a power glide and 6 cylinder in the barn. It was sorta rough but wasn’t to bad. He gave 500 dollars for it and got a clean title for it. The guy told him It was supposed to leave for the scrap yard the next day.
Wow! Great story.. I would’ve loved to get what was left of the C20. I can find a frame, it’s the body shape I love.. thanks for sharing!
These are my favorite body style of trucks, i have a 72 C20 that i love, two tone, the white goes across the side all down the truck in-between the trim
Great looking project. I like them so much better than the square bodies. That primer might come off with lacquer thinner or acetone.
I like the 60s one prior to this body style myself.. I’ll have to save my pennies and find one
First time I saw one of the previous generarion, my dad borrowed one from work where he managed a tomato paste factory, so we could get the construction debris that was in the vacant lot next to the house we bought in California. The one he brought home was a stepside in a soft, never washed yellow. A '63, I think. This would have been in '72 when Olive was brand new. So ugly, they're handsome!
@@That70sChannel agreed.. as a kid I wasn’t a fan of the look but as I get older I’ve grown fond of it.
Looks good buff 👍 hope your well
Doing good, just coming out of the deep freeze finally
@@BuffsGarage roll on summer boss
That's a solid project, Buff! I hope the used battery comes in handy...
For sure it has already! Thanks Buzz!

Another great video Buff glad to see the truck is already making progress!
Forward movement, literally!
Hey Buff I’m absolutely loving the build for sure!!! I am definitely a really big fan of the 1967-1972 Chevy body style trucks and have had bunches and bunches of them over the years!! I am currently working on a 1969 Chevy K30 SRW!!! I have tons of parts for them also!! I definitely think that truck would look really good lowered!! What are your plans with the truck?? I’d definitely be interested in it if you would be willing to sell??? Let me no please???
No immediate plans past making it run reliably. So thanks for watching and supporting. I’ll keep you in mind in the future!
Got to save a Chevy. Super nice truck good job
Nice work Buff!
Thank you sir!
My Dad bought a 72 new, 👍
Awesome video brother. Nice truck. My neighbor when i was a kid had one of those 72 Cheyenne. I remember he finally traded it in after the 350 had over 300,000 miles on it. Keep the content coming. Hope you have an incredible night. Much love and RESPECT
Thank you Tim
Nice work MR.😊
Thank you for watching!
Must of been custom ordered Cheyanne package wouldn’t have come that highly packaged but I could be mistaken
Nice job! Should be a fun project! And nothing like a little help from mom…
Mom is the best! Thanks for watching
When I saw the VW’s I thought mustie1 would love those
They are pretty neat
Hell yeah bout time 😂
Sorry for the delay… it’s a big one
Cool truck definitely lots of potential
Agreed… been sitting wasting away for way too long
My friend is looking for that bed.
This one stays with the truck.. it’s a matching set!
I had a green 70 3 speed on the column...I called Jed
Jed sounds like a real winner!
Hey buff garage thanks for the amazing content it was great learning from u and also love the C-10 truck hope u are able to get it running
Got it running! And driving (you have to watch to the end)..
Good stuff brother! 🎉
Thanks cousin Mike
1972 was the last year for that body design.
Yep 73 was the beginning of the Squarebody!
@@BuffsGarage & what's unbelievable about the square bodies is they were produced up through 1991. 19 years they were in production wow. Also speakin of the square bodies, here's something else very interesting. Believe it/not, evolution on them began in 1968. In other words, it was when development on them started. At the time, vehicle components underwent simulated testing on computers. They drew pictures & built clay models of trucks with different body designs which none looked close to the square bodies at the time. They went through many pictures & clay models to decide what they wanted their next generation trucks to look like. In 1969, a concept pickup was built & it looked similar to the 1972 - 1980 Dodge fullsize pickups. Originally their plan was to start producing the next generation trucks in the 1972 model year but got pushed back to the 1973 model year instead & the reason that happened was because people didn't like the design of the concept pickup so they went back to the drawing board to try to think of a different design. At the beginning of the 1970 model year, clay models began to look more like the square bodies & it wasn't until during the summer season of 1972 when the final design was picked & began producing the real square body models.
@@BuffsGarage the only square body models which weren't produced up through 1991 were the plain cab pickups. In 1987, the half & three quarter ton ones were ceased, but the one ton ones on the other hand were still in production up through 1989.
There one on it
Love the old avalanche wish the one I have wasn't so clapped out. I need another pick up now thanks to the rust rotting the torsion bar cross member and where it mounts to the frame rails is completely absent...there's just not enough frame left and what we do have is in very bad condition...
This one is for sale
@@BuffsGarage I appreciate the info and would feel cool driving your old rig but money's super tight rite now gotta make things work till they do again ya know!
@@michiganporter absolutely I know. I take trades too 😉
👍👍👍👊
Thanks JB!
@@BuffsGarage hey sir. I completely rebuilt a 70 CST/ 10 a few years ago. If you need any help on parts and stuff let me know sir!!
@jbslittleshop2897 I appreciate it!
thats a turn signal switch
Use a lraf blower to clean. Can
I have definitely done that before!
Don't know if views help you?... running 3 devices with your video on it. Yep Subscribed! Wife's at work 😂
It absolutely helps! Every view counts. Thanks for the support
It would be a lot better if you showed your work more. Don’t cut away and work just show it with less talking and you will have a good channel.👍🙏
What work would you like to see?
@@BuffsGarage like rebuilding the carb installing the headers etc . The stuff you didn’t show but had to be done.
@@mwatkins2464 I could see that. Headers just bolted on, nothing exciting there and rebuilding a carb is in almost every video on TH-cam, but I’ll definitely keep that in mind next time.
Just get a shovel and scrap the stuff out.
I have a Becca to help with that!
No flywheel
Great observation.. it got added late but that part of the video was left on the editing room floor.. I figured an hour and a half was enough. And you were the only one to mention it so far!
It's a Walmart air pump.
Appreciate that. Now I know where to get another! I’m sure it’s cheap
That truck sounds like bad valves and fireing ordervis off plus that carb is junk you need a good old Rochester
Regardless, it ran and drove and that was the goal! Thanks for watching..
