How to install a kit that enables Wireless Apple CarPlay and AndroidAuto in BMW 3-series and 4-sereies 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 model years (F30, F31, F32, F33, F36).
Seriously, this was the most straightforward and easy to follow tutorial I’ve seen for this install! Great job and thank you for this!

@Dangerclose4 it's great! Google refreshed Android Auto, so it now allows full-screen Maps. The box itself works well, but not perfect. This is more a fault of not having a touchscreen. I'd say the processing speed is good, but it probably would need a boost after a couple more update cycles. If the manufacturer comes out with another version, I would probably update.
Excellent video! I just installed this on my 2015 M4. The plug for my control panel (ac/heat and radio) wouldn’t come out and I didn’t want to force it so I just worked around it and it was fine. Also, I would suggest putting the radio back in BEFORE you put the glove box back. I had to take the glove box back off so I could fit my hand behind it to help move the harness around to get the radio to slide all the way back. Other than that, these instructions were great. Anyone can do this with some patience. It wasn’t hard at all.
That ac/radio panel wire is my worst enemy. Sometimes I have 4 minute battle with it, other times 30..
how is it working for you so far?
Make sure to place the microphone cable in the A-pillar behind the airbag, so when it deploys, it doesn't blast throught the wire. Also it's probably a good idea to wrap all your loose wires and plastics in some kind of foam and tape it to some place where it doesn't cause rattle and noises when you drive.

The glove compartment definitely does not need to be removed. The work can be saved, because it is absolutely sufficient only to loosen the lower cover with two 10 screws and insert the module there. No holes necessary, everything remains original. Did it yesterday in an hour

We found that OEM screens are still superior. Aftermarket ones glitch especially in Hot or Cold weather, and aftermarket ones do not have the same ability to show information well if you are wearing polarized sunglasses while driving. Thank you.

Have you had any issues with it. My aftermarket one comes up NO SIGNAL and doesn’t allow any media at all to work. Still shows the digital speedometer but no Bluetooth/radio/carplay will work

So you can only connect apple play or Android auto by cable? No wireless connection?
When you switch the audio to auxiliary will you still be able to hear a bluetooth phone call or does carplay seamlessly integrate that?

So, if using this system for CarPlay, it's not able to tie into (use) the factory microphone? (for Siri) You *have* to install the mic provided? Is there another aftermarket CarPlay system out there that ties into the factory mic (for Siri)? Also, this video was OUTSTANDING. Couldn't you use the USB in the center console instead of having a cable sticking out of the glove box? You know where the factory USB and aux input are.

So me and a buddy put it in. Now, the audio won’t work. We had a problem with the screen being black too. Audio IN cable is on the radio and audio OUT cable is on the kit. What’s wrong with this

Hi is it possible to hear original BMW radio sound and then switch to carplay and hear google maps sound the same time?
No not possible. You can listen to original radio, and see google directions on the screen, but our kit will not override original radio to play step by step directions. To hear directions from the CarPlay, you would need AUX as the source. Thank you.

Anyone try using Android auto on this and if so how well does it work? In past experiences cars seem to work much easier with iPhones than android in general.

You can use it both plugged in, and wireless for Apple carplay. Android auto i wired only.
