This series was a real treat to watch. It's short and straight to the point explained in an easy, understandable format. This makes me feel a little bit more at ease in pursuing animation with so much great knowledge. Really great job man.
Dude, you are amazing for making these videos. I still have a long way to go in animating, and seeing a moving example is extremely helpful. You've earned not only a subscriber, but many more views. :D
Really well made tutorials. I absolutely love how you jump right into it without a bunch of needless fluff. Many other people making videos need to learn how to do this as well!
Great series, I watched the whole thing. It's pretty cool how these principles make the animations appear so much more life like. I had previously tried to read through the wikipedia page about this stuff but it was difficult to understand. All the concepts became really clear when watching your videos.
Just got into animating and I have to say that these are some of the most well constructed tutorials I've seen. It's good that you don't spoon-feed us everything, but give us enough information to play around with it ourselves. Thanks!
I'm not an animator, nor do I even draw. But being able to now identify and name those details in works that I enjoy, enables me to appreciate the work that went into it much more. Thanks so much for that!
This series covers so much even way beyond animation only. Some fantastic sum ups of very important general art and design principles mentioned on the side. So well compressed. I always come back here occasionally to refresh the input. Invaluable to put that up and very generous. Thanks from the heart for your effort!
As someone with zero interest in becoming an animator I found this series very interesting. I like how much effort has gone into demonstrating each principle several times.
You honestly great at explaining in your tutorial videos and it inspires me to continue with my art hobbies. I only wished these series or tutorials were longer since I surprisingly enjoy watching this a lot! Thanks Alan Becker!
extremely nicely done! (i mean the whole series) i've been searching for a good video explaining the subject(s), and yours is so far the only one that doesn't have neither extravagant graphic style nor any unnecesary "noise" in narrative, standing in the way. drawings have a perfect balance of simpleness and style, and animations are done perfectly. kudos! and thanks! this helped my presentation about animation, for my kid's elementary school class, a lot! :)
0:17 see at this Alan becker your animations are very good .......i have seen all your videos.......you are a good animator (y).....i also make animation ....i am in class 8th now & i'm making animations from class 6th......i have won many medals and prizes in drawing competition......so it is useful for making animations ............well done :) :) keep it up
Absolutely awesome series just binged through the whole lot, and subscribed, No doubt come back an watch the whole thing again, just to make sure it sinks in.
Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston who created these videos, as well as work with Walt Disney and the other seven old men which they are one with, also appeared in a documentary of their own from their operation with Walt to their retirement; I'll see it to begin my new life with Disney Plus. They also appeared in The Pixar Story, but now they are gone, so is Diane Disney Miller, daughter of Walt Disney.
Alan!!! Holy cow man! I just watched all twelve of these with my two daughters, 9 and 11 and they were enthralled the whole time! In fact, we all couldn't stop watching your videos and browsed through a ton of your stuff. You've got mad skills and I (we) appreciate you sharing your talents with all of us on the interwebs!!!
Those videos are very very nice. Congratulations. You explain very clearly and illustrating everything making it easy to understand. The fact that you show the "wrong" form too and compare the two explaining the difference is amazingly helpful.
You are such a genius! I already know all the principles, but checked just to know if im missing anything or what this guy has to show. All the vids explained the principles SO MUCH clear that it is impossible to find an alternative to explain these principles now (atleast to me). I will always send everyone who asks about principles of animation. This is pure gold! Much much kudos to you mate. Great job!
I'm currently taking a class that is basically just "talking" about animation, and no drawing. I'm expected to write a critique on some early animation in terms of these principles, but my instructor didn't really explain any of it properly. You just saved my grade by taking the time to do this. Very well-done, and I appreciate it!
I watched a lot of your tutorials, and I remembered how much it needs to motivate me. But you motivated me to really learn how to draw and animate ! You're a genius, dude !
Great job Alan. This brings some fresh insight to the 12 principles. Approaching it from the 2D side helps reinforce what I've been learning on the 3D side. Thanks
This video made me both happy and sad. Happy because this is a very important and useful rule, not just in animation, but in general art. Sad because I feel this rule is not appreciated enough. To me, most "art" these days is overall uninteresting.
I just have to say you are a literal genius because in just the span of these few minute videos i feel as though I was given a thorough explanation and shown great examples as well, kudos to you sir.
Wow, these tutorials help me a lot in studying for computer animation in my online classes. It helps me understand the main important meanings of each principle and how it works. Glad to know this incredible animator for years since I was a child. I've realized how he makes these cool animations.
One of the best tutorial series I've seen for anything.
