A few years ago I had a surgeon actually tell me that because I have full range of mechanical motion, that means it makes no sense why I have pain. So the next day I got a bone scan, and it proved that he was wrong about other possible causes. It is so clear that the pain is caused by imbalanced weight bearing. The length discrepancy compounds the problem.
My left leg is 5'4 and my right is 5'5 i'm getting a surgery in the winter to do one last lenghtening ( I have had surgery 8 times and i am 13 ) I am excited because I will be able to finally wear normal shoes Wish Me Luck! :)
I was one of DR R's patients who would have considered amputation so i could go back to being ambulatory and pain free. (case 13) Thirty years after my post radiated tumor/ reconstructive surgeries, my leg became too crooked and deformed to walk on. So I started to visit othopedics folks in my local New England area. And was met with curiosity ...and doom and gloom.. The doc throwing up X-rays on the light, studying and rotating them all the while shaking their heads was the typical visit. No one even wanted to take me as a patient. And I was surprised none of them I had seen had a referral or would even investigate what was available perhaps elsewhere. That was even more depressing than my medical condition. I started writing heads of the best orthopedic depts / hospitals And pitching my story.. To get someone to help me... So when I see someone with a crooked or deformed limb - I tell them about Dr R because I'm afraid they've been dead ended by their doctors and don't know there may be hope. Thank you Dr R for continuing to create new medical solutions and sharing your expertise w the medical community. You are one of a kind !!!!
