Wow. Rain is no longer a ambitious backstabber with an ego the size of Outworld who thought himself a god. But a man who wishes to atone and actually learned the consequences of his ambition. Never thought I would see the day.
Rain has had a few forms (regarding origins and such). Last time was a ninja demi-god fuccboi traitor now a mage mortal traitor (who had an in-route to the royals **a 'not-prince'**). The former had no notable acts/feats to his name (just conning a dope). The latter seeks redemption and has real reasons to do so (having killed an entire city of half a million, destroying the government and assuring a war with further loss of life to follow).
It seems pretty cut and dry he can't help his nature despite the want to be better. Without the right company to guide him, he seems screwed. Easily swayed to evil (just not as down for it as some others **Bi-Han doesn't seem set to get his mind right, and I wouldn't expect his brother to succeed in reeling him in, but a small chance still exists for a relationship with Sareena to pull him back again just that I wouldn't expect him to avoid becoming Noob via death once more**).

It’s bc he isn’t a god so he doesn’t possess the ego of one anymore but he’s still somewhat vain, I can definitely see an anti hero arc for him being set up here

The original Rain was more the asshole working with the killer(s) of millions. This one did it himself (and feels bad). Not sure he's improved when he seems convinced he cannot change (continues to find himself with the wrong crowd leading him to further great sins).

@@tiaaaron3278 I feel like he's got no hope through his brother (alone). Frost probably won't even respond to him better as a teacher (despite similar natures). Well, maybe not without him working through his darkness first. Still likely to be an issue between them (if he lives long enough not to become Noob again **and need help coming back from it, which seems most plausible to me**).
I'd suspect Sareena will have to pull him back (one way or another). Perhaps their relationship will be more successful than the prior instances this time around. Mind you, one plot thread suggests he'll instead be a bad influence on her (making Ashrah look like a fool). Just wonderful. Going to be a bit of an arc there (like watching Vegeta VERY slowly get better **versus speedrunning the face turn Piccolo Junior had**).

Noshir Dalal is the voice of Rain in mortal kombat 1. Nashir also voiced Charles in Red Dead Redemption 2 and he is also the voice of Sekiro.

Yeah, and the option to make your own dialogues in the game and there has to be a sequel story mode where Rain becomes good and sides with Kitana, then Sindel will betray her people for Shao Kahn again, Tanya as a traitor again, Reptile as an evil person again but no human form, and Mileena as Shao Kahn's daughter and evil again, and evil Ermac.
I see where your going but I don’t think anyone wants Evil Sindel again, IMO Reptile should stay good just because it makes his character more interesting than just a jobber who gets his ass whooped every chapter
@@simonszone3158 but I want Evil Sindel despite the fact I'm not evil, I still don't see Sindel as a hero even if they put her that way, same applies to Evil Reptile, the only one who should stay as a hero is Rain.

Sure the game currently has a huge ratio of good to bad guys but we've gotten character developments that have done some of them for the better

Maybe in future installments since Bi-Han’s betrayal is the main driving force for the ninja bros’s story. My only complaint is that Bi-Han feels kind of one-dimensional and we didn’t learn much about him, so I hope that is fixed next time.
Rain water sound effects are so relaxing when he is making combos, his voice its amazing this time too.

I love that they made one of Rain's biggest points is finding out why limits were placed on him. Never expected an amazing character arc from RAIN of all characters. Even if the arc only came from his tower ending and these small dialouge bits.

Yeah but next game would be a long time so what about in the sequel Story Mode where Rain is good, and Sindel, Reptile, Mileena, and Tanya are all evil but Mileena is Shao Kahn's daughter once again and Ermac is Shao Kahn's son.

Bloodbending reference set aside, perhaps they'll start the school for the magics once taught by Shao to the orphan that became Skarlet. Partnering with more evil seems about right for Rain. Not great with choosing his bedfellows when regretting his bad decision making. The Havik thing is just comical. He'll end up teaming with each villain to cause some catastrophe at this rate (all the while lamenting how he can't get right).

Even though Rain isn't exactly a hero or a good guy in this new timeline, it's good to see that he at least has some redeeming qualities, like showing regret, seek forgiveness and realize he made mistakes. A huge leap compared to his previous versions, where he felt entitled to rule Edenia and being treated as a God, all because he was a Son of Argus.
PS: Zeffeero is his real name? Nice ❤❤❤

There's nothing positive about feeling regret AFTER doing what he did... if his regret is even genuine, and most likely it isn't. It's more "Oh, sh**, they're gonna put me to death for this! Better act all phony remorseful and contrite so they go easy on me!"

Hopefully Rain has a redemption arc in the next game and he needs a chapter in story mode were he helps his empire. Plus Rain needs to find out he is the son of god Argus and remain on the good side to help Edenia. Rain was unfairly abandoned by a father with power and divine lineage.
Rain is honorable though tempted by a dark path eventually seeks redemption and is way more humble.

I really like this version of Rain, he is someone who really fucked up out of panic. And without question deserves the death penalty. But one also has to bring up the morality of.
"if someone is sentances to the death penalty, they also have the right to run away from it"
Cause if society has decided they no longer deserve to be part of the system, than they themselves are not obligated to obey the system.
Rain by refusing to accept the death penalty, but also wanting to live a life of no more violence puts him in this really weird "inbetween two worlds" situation. Where he is not allowed to be part of any world for his own safety, and it's an isolating life he wants to to break away from, he wants to rejoin a system that has banished him. He wants a clean slate.
Since this is a fictional universe, I hope in MK 2, he can have his full redemption arch and become part of the good guys. Since he is canonly one of the strongest mages, I think the best ending for him, is a ending where he does an act of heroism that costs him his life. So he can rejoin the system in the embrace of comrades, while accepting the crimes of his past.

I don't know if he's truly repentant because he said he'd accept any punishment but when he hears he can't practice magic anymore feels he's being treated unfairly. His magic is what killed a city
Thanks for making this! Assuming intro dialogue is canon, here's a quick list of changes and events I found for Rain in this timeline!
- Rain's real name isn't Rain in this timeline. His real name is Zeffeero. He finally has a name like Sub, Scorp, Noob, Reptile, and Smoke do.
- His mom, Amara, is ALIVE and is being threatened now due to Rain's betrayal.
- Liu admits that he stripped Rain of his godhood; he's no longer a son of Argus.
- There are 2 conflicting dialogues on whether or not his water powers are innate. Assuming he's no longer a demigod, it makes more sense that they are not innate.
- Rain and Havik caused destruction together in Seido because Havik wants to recreate it as Chaos Realm. This killed 500,000 people.
- Rain now feels remorse and wants redemption. Possible he might become a good guy in the next game.
I wouldn't say their threatening Amara.

Plus, there is never been a Taven or a Daegon in this timeline.

I'm pretty sure Rain's gift with hydromancy is something he was born with, but it took him attending the Imperial Academy and getting trained by Shao for him to get to where his skills are

I am so glad to see that Rain is a good guy instead of a villain now, but the problem is that most heroes are misreading his intentions, Raiden, Liu Kang and Geras were less hostile to Rain.

Yeah, but Rain later regretted his actions but what I am saying is that after his redemption, heroes are misreading his intentions.

Wow. Though deserved, these intros made me feel really bad for Rain.
I honestly hope they keep to Rain feeling remorse and seeking redemption. It pays tribute to the fact that in his debut in UMK3, he betrayed Shao Kahn and joined Earthrealm, even embarking on a rogue suicide mission to kill the emperor to prove his loyalty to Earthrealm, so I hope Netherrealm stick to this.

So now we have the real name of Rain ans another way to name him, Zeffeero.
Zefferro was the overlord of Lei Chen in Deceptions Konquest mode, Mileena and Baraka start a siege of Lei Chen for Shao Kahn and Shujinko must help Zefferro by enlisting Hotaru and the other Seidans but due to certain events Shujinko promises Hotaru leadership over Lei Chen and when Hotaru breaks the siege he strips Zefferro of his position and takes Lei Chen for himself.
Of course Zefferro and Rain weren’t the same character back then so I feel like him being named that now is just a simple nod to deception, maybe they’re still 2 different people or maybe now they’re combined into one but let’s be real Zefferro is a wack name 😂
I have a feeling Mileena will move more towards the darker side in the next one.

Obviously him and Rain weren’t the same character back then but now it seems they just gave Rain that name to reference Deception

Honestly Rain seems like he’s very remorseful for what he’s done, and I feel like at least most of the intros, he had a little character arc in between his arcade ending and now, because he recognizes that he traded all he had for a brief moment of power, and now he has lost someone who was like a mother to him, his family suffers for what he did, with nowhere to go and an outcast to all realms. Rain is in a way similar to Bi-Han, but unlike him, Rain recognizes that there must be limits and ambitions lead only to destruction, and while he has learned this lesson, the empress still wants him dead, and Rain can only hope that he will be able to one day right the wrongs of the past.
Here to really see rains story expanded upon, barely really talked about much in the story, only implied that he was close to sindel (I think) these intros let characters be expanded upon more and I’ve always loved that.

Imagine either a story expansion or in the next game keeper of time Havik influences this one or replaces him and pull strings in a war between Seido and Outworld and during it Rain goes on a redemption path to try and make amends.

Zeffeero. The intro with Kenshi. That name was the name of an overlord of Outworld back in Deception's Konquest mode when he was to defy Shao Kahn's rule and take leadership for them all. That task eventually failed, when Hotaru strip[ed him of his positioned on the walled city of Lei Chen. Now perhaps that Seido incident is like payback on Hotaru, although Zefferro, real name of Rain, took no pleasure in it compared to Havik. Overlord Zeffeero is just hardly ever remembered in Mortal Kombat history.
Oh so that's what Zeffeero means. I thought that was new lore they added.

Man Rain in this is quite interesting, Liu Kang made a great decision to remove his godhood, had Rain still been a god he would not be so devasted at what happend in his ending, if he was a god still he would revel in the power to destroy cities.

It’s right that he feels pain for his mistake, but it’s one thing to regret bad choices *after* they’re made. One who truly desires mercy must infer that bad decisions *lead* to bad results.

They really fixed him and making him apart of royal family and seeing how they all react to his betrayal and how he shows remorse he has really grown from a snobby half god and I feel in the next game he should be playable having him redeem himself protecting the royal family from being attacked to shown he really has changed
