- Story Time | Awake During BBL Surgery: Many requested that I do a Story Time format video about me waking up during my BBL/Brazilian Butt Lift Surgery. This was a terrifying experience but I also know it was apart of my journey and hopefully I will be able to help someone else out with this Story Time and my documentation of my overall BBL experience. All surgeries come with a risk and we have to be prepared for whatever happens. This is my story.

Hello Andrew, I am so very thankful for your comment. I am glad that you found this useful in some way. Know that I love you despite what your beliefs are and the God I serve does too. You are a beautiful person inside and out and I hope that whatever it is that you are going through will come to pass sooner rather than later. You are strong. Sometimes we go through things that sharpens our iron and strengthens our muscles. Life, as you know, is not easy. I truly believe my path, though a rugged one (not including my surgery), has been survivable because of my faith. Even as a teenager, holding on to my faith is what got me through some really horrific times like when I was raped.
PS: I know that typically people who share my faith are often times the most judgmental and exclusive people. Please know that is not what Christianity is about. I love you babe. I wish you the very best. If ever you need me, please feel free to reach out. xo

I'm so glad you shared your testimony. I have not experienced waking up during surgery but I have experienced a medical emergency. In my situation, I whispered to God and He responded immediately so I know too that He is with us. When you said you couldn't move your fingers on your own but when you called on Him, He moved them for you...that was powerful! That statement right there said it all! I'm so glad that you are well and able to share your testimony. May His continued blessings be upon you and your family. And I'm loving your hair!

This story gave me the chill , that is why surgery kinda freeks me out . Cause I bet I'm gonna be that person that is awake. And if that would have happen to I probably would have to get therapy . You are such a strong person to be able to share your story and make it through .

Wow. People are so quick to tell people to sue! MEDICINE ISN'T INFALLIBLE. There are always risks associated with surgery and I'm so glad that she is educated enough to realize that. I'm sure she researched and the doctors explained the risks to her, so people encouraging her to get into a legal battle for something happens to people in surgery regardless of the skill or prestige of the doctor is just ridiculous. Yes ma'am you came on camera to tell your BBL story and he just used you to show his mercy and glory! And yes you are right God is everywhere! And just because you do things that he may not may not be pleased with doesn't me he leaves you. He is a God of unconditional love. Thanks for sharing. Good lord, I got so emotional honey. I loved this and I'm just finding out now the extreme dangers, because when I had my surgery I went in unafraid, in my head I thought, knew, something wouldn't happen. I mean, nothing happened thankfully, but my point is that you're a lot stronger than me because my pain tolerance is so low... girl it's not even there. I could try to be strong, but I know I would give up because the pain would kill me. I'm happy you're alive and well to tell your story to raise awareness for this. You stand up to bullying and you are one with loving yourself no matter what. You have my respect, big time.

When you sign those consent papers you sign your whole life away...(I work in a hospital and have been through two surgeries myself). Being any kind of doctor is a practice, they aren't perfect and it's a risk the patient is aware they are taking.
You are EXACTLY right. Thank you for sharing that. People love to scream sue but don't really know what that means in it's entirety. :)

EternalJoy that is bullshit I’m sorry. There’s no reason a patient should ever wake up during surgery and feel everything while they’re paralyzed. There needs to be some way to reduce these instances. It’s not acceptable. The use of a brain monitor is one way. there’s no reason why such a traumatic event should be happening at the rate it is and it’s severely downplayed by the medical community. So I refuse to accept that this is okay.

Thank you for sharing this experience, It will help so many people to be aware of the risks. I also had cosmetic surgery and i always say to my friends please don't do it if you don't have to. Before i went for my surgery i went on Spiritual Fasting and Praying, for protection because i knew there are risks.

God is always there if you call to him, when i was 12 i was a healthy child i did gymnastics and soccer and i got sick so did my siblings and all of them got over except me not about 6 weeks later i was flown to Houston to the childrens hospital and told i had a week to live unless i had a transplant. it usauly takes 7 years to have a transplant, The docters listed me as 1A and i had a liver transplant in two days becuase i prayed to God the whole time and i went to pic u right after surgery and in less than 24 hours they moved me back to the floor i was on. Trust in our lord and he will help those who beleive. Im glad you made through this.
I almost cried when you were talking about trusting in and asking God for help. I remember a year or so ago when I went swimming in the ocean here in Guam, we were at a really dark sand beach that made the water super murky. My family and I had been playing around in the water and as sunset was upon us my husband realized he had lost the keys. Somehow they had slipped out of his pocket unnoticed and it was 1 in a million chance we’d be able to find them. Being down south that day we were an hour from home and none of our friends lived in the area. So we knew we had to find the keys or we would be stuck on the beach for the night with minimal necessities. We searched all over the beach and in the murky water deep and shallow and we couldn’t find them. As it was just about to get dark, I stopped and prayed. I asked God to “please let me find the keys so we could go home”. “Just please let me find them, I beg you”. I was on the verge of giving up the search and this was my last ditch effort. We had been searching for about 30/45 minutes already with no luck. As soon as I finished my prayer I reached down into the murky water one more time and felt something. I thought it was probably a rock or part of a coconut but as I began to pull it up I noticed it was the keys we’d been searching for. I cried out in disbelief to my husband that I had found the keys and I thanked God for listening and allowing me the help I needed to find those them. I honestly don’t think I would have found them if I hadn’t stopped and asked God for help. So in conclusion I do believe he is always there and always listening. Faith is Key!!
Thanks for sharing this story. I was thinking about doing this and I have also awakened during surgery before and truly understand where you are coming from. YES God is awesome and always there when you truly need Him. Keep sharing your stories because you are helping others.
I needed to hear this. Thank yo so much. My faith took a nose dive when my little autisic son wanted to kill himself because of bullies and being different. I'm trying to get the faith back. It's hard.

I'm so unbelievably glad that your body was finally able to break through the paralytic enough to get the anesthesiologist's attention. Your determination and your love and trust in God was so beautiful to hear about, and I'm genuinely moved by the way you recounted your experience.

I actually woke up during surgery as well. Shortly after waking up, I started to moan and the anesthesiologist heard and administered more of the medicine. Thankfully all I felt was the in and out motion of the catheter with no pain. It's just weird to me how they didn't notice your vital signs. I'm sure your heart rate was through the roof. Sorry you had to go through this and I'm glad you are able to tell your story.
I was thinking the same thing - that the heartbeat would be through the roof since the heart wouldn't have been paralyzed by the meds!

I love your positivity and faith in God, how smart you are knowing what can happen and you don't walk around saying dumb stuff like "oh they should have given me Anastasia" or trying to get money for a true medical mistake and how you always keep it 100
Praise God you made it out of that surgery. I'm a believer but it's people sharing their testimonies that sometimes reminds you God hears our prayers. I was scrolling through you tube this morning and ran into your video...First, I would like to Thank You for sharing such a terrifying expirience,, as I continued to listen you speak on how much pain you were feeling I could not even imagine how scared you must've felt.....I am a strong believer of my God...and I truly could feel the love. The empathy ...as you were speaking and it reached and touched my heart....I am very happy that you pulled through that difficult time in your life and that God heard your prayer...because there is truly A God!!! and he came at the right time of your need.....I am scheduled to have a bbl liposuction this year in Miami bbl....in April...I am scared and nervous but I trust in God that all will go well...I'm trying to stay focus. Doing alot of research and been listening to many videos on how to prep for this ....I Thank you again for your video...videos...and don't listen to such negativity .unfortunately we live in a truly different world nowadays!! I really love your way of looking at things. An attitude of gratitude, and seeing your blessings will give you the best way through life. I'm Jewish, and I want let you know that I believe you 100%. I've been delivered from some terrible medical news, just by my praying my heart out. My doctors were completely confused! They had no explanation.

Toni I'm here in tears. Not sure why I wasn't getting notifications for your videos but I'm glad I found this. I've been researching BBL myself. As a woman of a certain age with 4 sons I work out religiously and eat great but there are stubborn spots that just won't go away. I've been watching several surgeons snap chats and inquiring with those who have got it done. You've really opened my eyes. I do want the surgery but it's good to hear about the aftermath that people don't talk about in order for me to try and be prepared for the what ifs. Yes. We needed this. You've been brave for us all. You know my age in getting this done has always been the very thing that concerns me. I've had breast augmentation before but that's not nearly as severe
or as long. I'm still nervous which is natural but now a little more excited.

I watched this video last year, I’m rewatching it again now and you are STUNNING and SO MUCH RESPECT for you getting through this 🙏😻
Have been awake during most of my surgeries. Wisdom teeth, groin repair, juvenile canines, facial repair (broken nose, both cheekbones, upper jaw). No pain, just paralyzed but fully aware. During the groin repair, the doctor was telling jokes and I piped up with, "Hey, doc, I got one for ya!" Utter stillness in the OR. Doctor pokes me and says does this hurt. I say no. Anesthesiologist says more gas coming up. Paralyzed but still awake. Doctor finished, the anesthesiologist cut the gas and went to pure oxygen. Could instantly move and helped them get me off the table. When I needed knee surgery, I talked to the doctor prior to the surgery about this and they tried several drugs before settling on one. First time I've been totally knocked out. I often have my mind awake when my body is asleep.
Again, thank you for this video..people can be cruel in their own ignorance.

You are a Strong Black Woman who just being human. We all go through something good, bad and life changing decision that we think is a game changer sometimes we're just taking that extra step to move forward into a better everything. However, anytime u put God 1st in any decision u come arcoss he will guide u through and make a way. But there will be times when he wants to teach or test you to see how strong you are and it's all how u handle it to see the real true outcome. Im proud of u and all your accomplishments hun....

This is called anesthesia awareness. You are correct, this does happen and it’s usually not negligence on the part of the anesthesiologist.

I had a hysterectomy 3 weeks ago and woke up toward the end of my surgery. They were complete the surgery part (thank God) but I still had the tube in and wasn't yet breathing on my own. I began thrashing around, gagging, choking and biting the tube. It was terrifying. I remember every second. The anesthesiologist told me afterward that this is rare but it does happen. I don't blame him at all. I'm so sorry for your experience. I cannot imagine having woken up while they were actually performing the surgery part...P.S., I found this video because I plan to have a BBL in October of this year 😁

Omg, I can't imagine how painful that was. Lipo is really brutal. I'm an ORT, and have assisted many of those, along with any surgery you could imagine. Bless your heart. I'm so sorry you had that experience. Maybe he forgot to turn on the gas.

God is really amazing, my cat is sick with kidney problems, the vets didn’t really help her and she wasn’t eating for days but I asked God so much for help and now she eats daily 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
My cat is diabetic and I had the same experience throughout him getting better.
