I think because she was newer to Grey’s a lot of people don’t realise that Amelia has been through as much loss as many of the others. A lot of people who watch Grey’s didn’t watch Private Practice, and by this point they didn’t quite realise that Derek was one of many she lost. Her father, her fiancé, and her baby came before. She’s been through a lot of loss, and I feel like a lot of viewers were quite hard on her over how she reacted to Derek’s death as though she was less connected to him than other characters. She may have been a newer character to Grey’s, but she was probably the most connected to Derek after Meredith, so her reactions are totally justified.

Yes! I think people just think when she said plane crash she was talking about mark. People forget she’s known him her whole life basically. I’m glad she stood up.

I'm glad she spoke up. she was hurt and needed to cope with her emotions. very powerful scene.
