Which Excel (Office) edition need use? my 2019 can extract only from one PDF file 😞 Cann't cobine. "We didn't recognize the format of your first file ()."
I am using office 365 but I don't think it is a version issue. Try using something simple and see if you get the same error. Also, I found this from microsoft where they talk about the error but not exactly yours (it is sharepoint): answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/using-powerquery-to-import-files-from-a-sharepoint/b41f9f13-69cb-4e72-92c6-849fdbc79a5f Maybe you did not select the right extension. Also check out this if it helps: learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-query/connectors/pdf
Great explanation! However, I now need to import multiple PDF's wand they each have multiple tables. Power query only lets me select one of the tables in a given PDF file. Is there a way around this?
There are a couple of ways i think. 1) have a query for each table. Ie u write 1 for table 1 in all the pdf, 1 for table etc... 2) use chatgpt. I m actually making a video on the topic but it wont come out soon. Try the free version and if needed, u might have to buy a chatgpt subscription. U upload the files and tells chatgpt to extract the table data in excel. It will do
When I choose a folder as source excel does not give an option to choose multiple tables. How can the solution be customized to accommodate when there is more than 1 table in the PDF?
I have not tried to combine multiple tables from multiple files in a folder but i have an idea for u. 1) make a power query to combine table number 1 for all files in folder 2) make a power query to combine table number 2 for all files in folder 3) make a power query that will combine the data from step 1 and 2. 4) if it works, dont forget to ask all urs friends to subscribe hehe kidding. But tru this approach, i think it might work :)
In this case, you could write a query that will take the data from france and then another one that will import the data from the japan file and then make then run 1 after the other. As long as you do the data import correctly, you cams et up the query once and then refresh
i m not sure i got ur question right but u can choose which table u want to select from the PDF. In case your question is about how to take more than 1 table from 1 pdf file, then there is a person that just asked that. Let me know and i will copy paste my suggestion
@@EXCELWIZARDINMINUTES yes I have up to 5 pages in a single pdf then about 25 pdf’s in a single folder. I looked for a while online but only found one response …something about adding a column from the list of files table but I wasn’t able to follow it. I’m very new at power query.
@Miss stich arooh here is what i suggested to the other person: I have not tried to combine multiple tables from multiple files in a folder but i have an idea for u. 1) make a power query to combine table number 1 for all files in folder 2) make a power query to combine table number 2 for all files in folder 3) make a power query that will combine the data from step 1 and 2. 4) if it works, dont forget to ask all urs friends to subscribe hehe kidding. Thanks for the video! Can you make another video for multipage PDF? This approach only loads the first page of the PDF onto the power query.
Thank you for amazing video! Unfortunately it didn't work for me. I am clicking for combined binaries and a page with bytes pop up
I want to start Freelancing as Data Cleaner out of your remarkable work.
Good luck! Let me know how your journeys goes :)

@@EXCELWIZARDINMINUTES thanks, sounds a nice suggestion. Will try that :)
Where did you just drop that Indian pdf.. I missed it . Powerful lesson !
Thanks a lot! :))) I have put the India file in the same folder where I had the other ones. This way, Power Query will automatically load the file
It's some like a ocr from PDF to excel. Good job, thanks.
Thanks a lot! 😊
What if i have 1 table in japan and 3 tables in france ?

This is helpful, but what if the .pdf itself has multiple pages? The program is only selecting the first page to translate.

You are more than welcome ! :)
bless you, bless you, BLESS YOU
Ohh thank you! :)) that made me smile!
When I click the double arrow I didn't find any window for further process
Send me your email address I want to share my problem
Try resizing ur window. There might be hidden buttons (ie not visible).
What if the PDF have many pages? this method only can get 1 table data from 1 PDF
You can always create a different query (ie repeat the process) for every table you want to extract from the files
