This variant of the B58 (382hp) consumes oil. Same issue in the BMW M340. I'm leasing a 2021 M340 and it needed 1 quart of oil added at around 6500 miles. After the 10k oil change, it needed another quart added around 16k miles
Im needing a quart every 2k miles. I do however push this car pretty hard. I’ve just been adding the oil myself because Toyota does not know how to properly maintenance this car.
That sucks man I feel for you.. my 2020 has zero issues and I would hope any revisions moving forward would of maintained that reliability. Hopefully your local dealership takes care of you with everything.

Any update since it's been a year? If it's still 1 quart/liter every 2k miles, that's only an extra 1.6cents per mile. If you drive a fair amount like 10k miles/year, that's an extra ~$160/year. Annoying but not enough to get rid of it, imho.
Well, that oil sensor will tell you if oil is low or needs to be changed depending on how you drive (When it's working), but I can not tell you when you overfill the engine. So DIYers be very careful and follow the manual down to the letter.
THIS! I honestly hate depending on a sensor and not having a dipstick. Several people have even mentioned what if the sensor goes out? That’ll be a fun repair
That’s so crazy, I thought those motors were totally bullet proof! I’d definitely hold off on the tune, warranty is life bro! Like you said, hopefully it’s just consuming a lot of oil like a normal bmw motor.

New engine styles without the real world testing... im guessing the 2020 b58 is the one that had been tested and proven good for years in the bmws? I imagine this wouldn't be a problem on the 2023 or 24 models
Honestly that’s what it feels like. The 2021s are the test cars and they’ll get the bugs fixed for later model years. I wouldn’t doubt it if by 2022 they have it fixed up
Does anyone know if a later build date for the engines with a fix is out there? They obviously had to stop production on faulty motors. I want to know that date If I am going to purchase a new toy. If I can avoid this issue through deferment, I will.
Had no issues 2300 miles changed my first oil but never floored it till first oil change never floored it in break In period either. But get that checked out mine 2021 build in 03/20/20
Im more worried as we haven't got any news on the 2022MY Supra's. Toyota should of just used there own factory's in Japan i think the issue is Magnyr Styr and the quantity of cars they build from many manufacturers. If Toyota somehow is able to get all the BMW tools etc. I think it'd be easier for Toyota do the quality control on every vehicle ,instead of having a third party do it, and of course this Pandemic didn't help.
I wouldn't let this issue dissuade anyone from buying this car. I have a 2021 3.0 Premium and am at around 5,400 miles now. This issue has never arisen for me. I had the first oil change at around 2,800 miles and oil level was fine and it's still at a good level since the first oil change a year ago. Even if I was experiencing the 1 liter of oil needed every 2k miles issue, I would still love this car. Throw a liter in the trunk!

(late comment) but same deal on my 2021 supra about a couple of months ago. Went in and the service dcept's supra guy said it's a known issue, they dont have a fix yet (at that time). Asked for a top off and they mentioned to bring it back in. I haven't yet.... but yeah.
Ideas are up in the air right now. I’ve pretty much accepted if it’s a lemon no biggie on to the next one, if it doesn’t come back car is getting tuned and we are breaking into the 10s!!

@@godrive6902 you just needed to add oil. Most engines that are not naturally aspirated will burn some oil when pushed. Thats why I asked you that in the other video. Good videos.
I have a 21 and I had the low oil popup at 3,250, had it topped off, and 1,600 miles later it has popped up again... Toyota left a sticker recommending a full oil change at 5k miles but Bmw recommends ever 12k.... don't know if I should hit the dealer 200 miles from now and let them know it's consuming more oil or take it at 12k.
So I’m pretty much in the same not it keeps consuming about every 2k miles for me. I’ve documented the issue with them but will not be going back unless something actually happens to the car. My dealer has no clue about these cars and doesn’t even have the adapter to jack these up.
This is over bloated. The new Supra oil consumption is the old Porsche IMS bearing issue where less than 1% of the cars are effected. Refill it and carry on. Bmw is known for consuming oil. And yes, send it and drive it! -2021 Supra owner.

So I’m averaging 2k miles before adding oil. I’m at 8300. Toyota did an oil change on my car around 5k but they had no intensions of doing anything else with the car other than adding oil. It wasn’t a very informative update so I haven’t made a video on it lol
I have to add oil about every 2500 miles. However, I do a lot of hard driving with all of the events that I do. That definitely contributes to how soon I have to add oil

Still consuming oil, Toyota has only said they are investigating the issue. However, I will probably not be taking my car back to them. Their “Supra Master technician” didn’t even know how to jack up the Supra and damaged the jacking points.

It's not a BMW issue. It's this 2021 supra issue. My M140i with the B58 doesn't drink one drop of oil.

This happened to me. Toyota had to replace my engine at 5000ish miles. They had my car for 45 days. Good luck.

Yeah my ECU is a March production date. I’m local to induction performance (Tampa) so I won’t have any down time sending the Ecu off to get unlocked.
