    This variant of the B58
    (382hp) consumes oil. Same issue in the BMW M340. I'm leasing a 2021 M340 and it needed 1 quart of oil added at around 6500 miles. After the 10k oil change, it needed another quart added around 16k miles

    • @godrive6902
      @godrive6902  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Im needing a quart every 2k miles. I do however push this car pretty hard. I’ve just been adding the oil myself because Toyota does not know how to properly maintenance this car.

    That sucks man I feel for you.. my 2020 has zero issues and I would hope any revisions moving forward would of maintained that reliability. Hopefully your local dealership takes care of you with everything.

      I haven’t met ANY 2020 owners with issues! It seems like the compression changes are probably the culprit of the 2021 issues. Thank you and fingers crossed it’s smooth sailing from here

      @@godrive6902 all the best to you, fellow supra owner ❤ I believe toyota will make everything right. Would be best if this 3000 mile test shows no more oil consumption!

    @heh2k 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Any update since it's been a year?
    If it's still 1 quart/liter every 2k miles, that's only an extra 1.6cents per mile. If you drive a fair amount like 10k miles/year, that's an extra ~$160/year. Annoying but not enough to get rid of it, imho.

  • @joeyn7399

    So what ended up being the issue??? Asking because I am looking to get a 2023 Supra.

  • @DenisDamulira23
    @DenisDamulira23 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Well, that oil sensor will tell you if oil is low or needs to be changed depending on how you drive (When it's working), but I can not tell you when you overfill the engine. So DIYers be very careful and follow the manual down to the letter.

    • @godrive6902

    New engine styles without the real world testing... im guessing the 2020 b58 is the one that had been tested and proven good for years in the bmws? I imagine this wouldn't be a problem on the 2023 or 24 models

    Im more worried as we haven't got any news on the 2022MY Supra's. Toyota should of just used there own factory's in Japan i think the issue is Magnyr Styr and the quantity of cars they build from many manufacturers. If Toyota somehow is able to get all the BMW tools etc. I think it'd be easier for Toyota do the quality control on every vehicle ,instead of having a third party do it, and of course this Pandemic didn't help.

    I wouldn't let this issue dissuade anyone from buying this car. I have a 2021 3.0 Premium and am at around 5,400 miles now. This issue has never arisen for me. I had the first oil change at around 2,800 miles and oil level was fine and it's still at a good level since the first oil change a year ago. Even if I was experiencing the 1 liter of oil needed every 2k miles issue, I would still love this car. Throw a liter in the trunk!

    What were you thinking for tunning? Is your ecu tunable?

    • @godrive6902
      @godrive6902  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah my ECU is a March production date. I’m local to induction performance (Tampa) so I won’t have any down time sending the Ecu off to get unlocked.

    Any updates on the oil issues?

    • @godrive6902
      @godrive6902  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Still consuming oil, Toyota has only said they are investigating the issue. However, I will probably not be taking my car back to them. Their “Supra Master technician” didn’t even know how to jack up the Supra and damaged the jacking points.

    I was going to buy this car TODAY. Yes, mofo'in TODAY. why not i thought. just go order one, cheap enough for a super car. I sat in them thought about it a lot, compared with options or just keep my car, and today I am like, YEAH DO IT. Now I will not. I need this car to last me 20+ years and be a highway high speed cruiser to tour from Canada to mexico. Not doing that with this crap design, that's for sure. what a shame. Wtf do i get now? Boxster or cayman 718 base is next best thing (well, better just 20k more ugh)
