Have you seen Firefly? Casey coming through the roof reminds me of Jayne Cobb hanging from the ship Serenity with a gun, and Mal says, "Y'all see the man up there with the really big gun?....The man's looking to kill some folk. The real intent here is his y'all should worry about thwarting."
This scene is simply a masterpiece, and can go shoulder to shoulder with best action scenes of all times. Everything is brilliant, the way they made Mr Roboto dramatic, the way Ellie and Awesome try to act cool while they are horrified inside, the way Bryce enters the room to fit the music perfectly, the way those soldiers fly over, casting a shadow on the entire room, showing some real shit is about to go down, and finally Casey and his team breaking through the glass roof killing everyone and saving the day (which is just perfect for Casey, and is exactly what the character is about). Its all BRILLIANT and extremely underrated
The way the show can blend comedy, serious threats, multiple heroic entrances, the panic for Ellie and Awesome, Big Mike's eyes popping out of his skull, Morgan's look at Devin, the villainy of Rork and culminate so many storylines (Devin learning Chuck is a spy, Bryce faking the intersect, Jeffster) all in one scene that takes place while Jeffster is playing one song is so perfect. Such a perfect scene.
Best moment for me is Captain Awesome confronting Morgan, and then immediately backing off when he was told Chuck was behind it all. He knew Chuck would never sabotage his sister's wedding without good reason.
It’s July 2022 and this is still one of the most epic scenes ever shot on film. The parachuting and Casey reeling down firing with Mr Roboto in the background. Doesn’t get much better than this.
What's impressive about the Bryce character story is just how long they manage to keep up the ruse that it's Bryce and not Chuck who has the Intersect. It isn't until the Ring saves Shaw's life do the bad guys finally realize that Chuck is the true threat.
It is SO funny, during the midst of the shooting, Chuck's biggest worry is everything in the dining room. I love it when he says "Oh God, not the flowers!" and "someone just shoot me now." :D
Excellent how they timed the lyrics to fit the action. You start with the beginning part that describes Chuck perfectly (a secret he's been hiding under his skin) all the way up to when Bryce enters to the "I am the modren man" followed by Casey dropping down with "thank you very much for helping me escape!" as Chuck escapes death. Excellent timing and very well performed.
Personally, i consider this the greatest scene in TV history and largely for the reasons you said, but also "Why are you letting Sam Kinsen and an Indian Lesiban ruin your wedding" plus all the camoes. Youngsters wont' know who Morgan Fairchild is and non-SciFi won't know Bruce Broxliter (sp?)
Don't forget Bruce Boxleitner who was Alan Bradley in the original Tron...and he had the best line in the whole scene: "Why are you letting Sam Kinnison and an Indian lesbian wreck your wedding?!"
Obviously love this scene if I'm checking it out 11 years after the fact. 1. I like to think that Chuck sent a minimalist message to Casey, like "Help", or "my fingers are burning". And Casey's default response was paratroopers. Totally on brand for him. 2. While justified, I still really enjoy how anyone "in the know" would back Chuck to the hilt, every time. Conversely, Chuck gave his fair share of saves as well. 3. I'm assuming Chuck's dad's punch was a reference to his quantum leap days. In that show, he punched out every adversary. I don't remember if there were any other quantum leap easter eggs. Maybe the wrist watches...
Dude - their finale / swan song rendition of "Take On Me" is right up there - this show is chock full of underrated classic TV moments "Guys...I know Kung Fu"
First time I died in laughter was when the man said "why are u letting an indian lesbian ruin your wedding" 😂😂 2nd time when camera cuts to sara meditating in her wedding dress in front of the mirror n her dad comes in looks at her weirdly, shakes his head n closes the door after him😂😂😁
Rob Riggle at least was in the Marines so he has some experience among tough guys. Chevy Chase, well, I admit he does a good job being the Bond villain type here.
+eiji niizuma I'm not going to lie when I first heard of the concept I was skeptical about if it would be a good show. TV networks do a horrible job selling non typical shows look at Community. I though it was going to be a lame sitcom and it turned out to be effing hilarious.
+eiji niizuma Still not as confusing at the end of the reimaged Battlestar Galactica, or How I met your mother. I think HIMYM takes the cake for having the worst final season. I know not everyone was a fan of the show, but they pissed everyone off with that ending.
DarkRaptor99 i still contend the chuck ending was worse then battlestars ending at least because in the penultimate ep of chuck everyone is written ooc in order to facilitate their ending ie: ellie morgan awesome "sarah tries to murder chuck & destroys their dream home tells him she never loved him " smh! can you honestly tell me you believe the ellie weve seen over the 5 seasons of the show would abandon her brother after he loses his wife?
this song constantly rewind in my head over the years and I wonder where the song made this very strong impression. I just watched jimmy fallon's lipsync and now I remember it's from this awesome scene! hahahah
Everything awesome about that show summed up in five minutes. That season 2 finale really was grand. Chuck should have stopped after its third season. Seasons 4 and 5 almost ruined everything. And that says a lot, because before that, it was one of my favorite TV shows, like, ever.
I don't have too many issues with season 5 aside from Morgan with the intersect and the final 3 episode amnesia bs. wow the final 2 episodes are a complete disaster
3:35 believe it or not, that was only one of VERY FEW time casey look like a badass. He is my 2nd fav character behind awesome and it always bugs me when any other episode he never become the hero that save the day like he should in fact he always got ridiculed i hate that
Oh man I though I was the only one that thought that aswell. The way he rapelled down. Chills man. So underrated. I mean I'm sure he was one of 5 people on the word that could make that sniper shot over a mile.
Okay, it's been some years since I watched "Chuck," but I swear the first time Jeffster performed "Mr. Roboto" was in the Buy More. It was this whole early-80s music video homage thing centered around the Nerd Herd desk. And not with the back-and-forth cutting to the story in the episode. I swear it was the whole thing...
"okay...keep stalling, keep stalling...for reasons I don't understand...while I bring shame upon my family who are right next to me...because my soon-to-be brother-in-law is a secret agent and I can't tell my soon-to-be-wife ohmygodwhathappenedtomylife" It's all there in that clenched jaw fist pump :)
Another bonus with this vid - good luck finding any hotter chicks than Sarah Lancaster & Yvonne Strahovski - it's got something for everyone :) ""We're Doomed"
And that's the reason why Chuck was such a great show.
Couldn´t agree more :) the first show which sucked me in immediately after the first second. No other show did that ever before or after...
@@td8552 A lot of the music was so well chosen 😀
@@hedginbets7356 That´s true 🙂
"Why are you letting Sam Kinison and an Indian lesbian wreck your wedding"?
Perhaps the funniest line of the entire series.
mossjandrew cant disagree
Nah mate "Ohh, Chuck me"
I cried so much laughing at that line, oh man!
Cracks me everytime
“Charles Charmichael ALWAYS comes quickly...”
Casey coming through the roof is probably one of the greatest scenes in TV history.
I mean... Chuck did call...
When you absolutely positively need to kill every motherf**ker in the room accept no substitutes

@@xfilesfan01 I'd have to watch it again.
I never in my wildest dream could imagine mr roboto beiing used in such a dramatic way. It so fits the scene
Mark P only chuck could pull this off... and they did xD
+Mark P imo the greatest scene in the history of television
The Lyrics also really fit Chuck's story. Secret secret, I've got a secret. etc.
It needs to be the Jeffster version, though. The Styx version has way too little bass and tonal depth.
the entire sequence is just pure genius.
once again proving that the music selection for this series was unrivalled...
amazing choice of song for an action scene
Kevin Munguia I have to agree they did an awesome job with the music on Chuck.
This scene is simply a masterpiece, and can go shoulder to shoulder with best action scenes of all times. Everything is brilliant, the way they made Mr Roboto dramatic, the way Ellie and Awesome try to act cool while they are horrified inside, the way Bryce enters the room to fit the music perfectly, the way those soldiers fly over, casting a shadow on the entire room, showing some real shit is about to go down, and finally Casey and his team breaking through the glass roof killing everyone and saving the day (which is just perfect for Casey, and is exactly what the character is about). you read my mind bro, i agree
Tottaly agree!!!
That's right, BUT: Bryce is standing in a huge weapon store and he takes ONE pistol with him, without a replacement magazine...
scalar12 and he didn’t bring even a pistol for Sarah
The way the show can blend comedy, serious threats, multiple heroic entrances, the panic for Ellie and Awesome, Big Mike's eyes popping out of his skull, Morgan's look at Devin, the villainy of Rork and culminate so many storylines (Devin learning Chuck is a spy, Bryce faking the intersect, Jeffster) all in one scene that takes place while Jeffster is playing one song is so perfect. Such a perfect scene.
I maintain that this scene is one of the best season enders in history.
It's not even the end of the episode, though...

Definitely gives off a Neal Caffrey vibe
Bolonia: "What is happening?"
Big Mike: "I don't know, but this wedding just got good!"
I always wondered, why was Big Mike at Ellie's wedding? Have they even met?
@@hooverblox3804 He was part of Chuck's +10.

I had always liked the show. But when I saw this scene, I absolutely fell in love with it.
One of the best TV shows ever, best scene. I can just imagine Casey heating chucks voicemail and being like "turn the plane around, new mission"
Possibly the best scene in all of TV history that isn't in Firefly.
I like the scene where Casey and his highly trained men help plan the beach wedding better.
