I've been on AMD for about 14 years now. Just bought a 7800 XT this last weekend for 1440p gaming and I'm absolutely happy with it. My last NVIDIA was GTX 660. RX 480, RX 6700 XT, and now RX 7800 XT since.
It's interesting that this brand loyalty towards nVidia is something US-specific. I moved between Germany and California during the last 2 years and somehow people were focused on getting their GeForce 1650s or 3050Tis or something for way too much money instead of looking on the other side and maybe getting a 5700XT or 6600XT. They were quite surprised when I showed them what a 7900XTX can do for it's price. Some people were also surprised to know that all Xbox One, Xbox Series, PS4, PS5 and Steam Deck rely exclusively on AMD-technology. Being biased by brand loyalty leads to worse decisions while looking for new components.
It's obviously not US specific, or else Nvidia wouldn't have an 80% global market share with desktop GPUs. Nvidia is huge in Asia as well. Good luck reselling AMD cards in Japan, Australia, or Taiwan.
7900XTX getting whooped by the 3080 in Alan Wake II with actual max graphics. AMD at the "high end" is a joke. Even the 5700XT wasn't all that great. People who bought a 2070S instead for an extra $100 got full DX12 support and DLSS. Alan Wake II runs great on the 2070S -- not so for the 5700XT because it doesn't support mesh shaders. Furthermore the 2070S also supports DirectStorage whereas RDNA1 does not.
@@Phil_529 But what has that to do with overall performance of a specific GPU? Many years ago these companies decided to integrate Raytracing in 2 different ways: NVidia uses dedicated hardware cores that are optimised to work on Raytracing effects, AMD went the path of including Raytracing-features into general purpose Compute Units. If you have a balanced mix of Raytracing and Raster workloads, the approach of AMD is completely valid. You can see it in Spider-Man, Resident Evil, Metro Exodus for example. On the other hand you can bring these workloads out of balance where the integrated approach leads to bottlenecks and dedicated RT-Cores have a huge advantage. It's not just black and white but always a compromise.
I think you nailed it here. You may not agree but at least give AMD a try. You might be surprised. I've been using AMD products for a very long time and I have owned Nvidia cards but usually AMD gives me more for my money. Speaking of someone who always doesn't have a whole lot of money I have to be frugal. My current graphics card I won. And I was given a choice I could have gotten an Nvidia card. I chose to get the 7900 XTX because I know AMD I know their quality and that's what I want. That doesn't mean that Nvidia makes garbage. If you have Nvidia and you love it that's perfectly fine. But don't be a fanboy. At least look to see what's out there and give it a try sometime you might be pleasantly surprised

FSR3 is an absolute joke until it allows people to disable v-sync. Starfield was AMD's big sponsorship of the year and we got DLSS3 FG in it instead of FSR3. That should sum up how unimpressive and irrelevant AMDs tech is. Could you imagine if Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty was getting some AMD exclusive tech and NVIDIAs version wasn't implemented? No, of course not. That would reek of incompetence and it just doesn't happen with NVIDIA. I agree with you what ngreedia is doing is bad to all gamers. But the thing is since nvdia is having market share 70% of it or more most new games are optimized better on it games i mean not the top triple aaa title but titles like new multiplayer titles like ark ascended grayzone warfare etc always be sponsoer by nvidia and runs better on it so as a gamer who likes this multiplayer titles thats getting released am forced to grab a nvdia gpu for a premium.Look at ark ascended 7900xt cant even give stable 30 fps at ultra settings 1440 p mean while 4070 or even 4060 runs it on FG and dlss with playable 50-60 fps.I really like amd its price worth but sadly i have to go nvdia so i can play those titles sadly.Plus in my country amd cards are overpriced due to having more vram for some reason.
Unless your going to use exclusively raytracing titles or heavy video editing I’d get the 7900XT. I got it because of the higher vram. And when I use things like DaVinci resolve I haven’t had any problems yet. Plus the AMD ReLive is stupid easy to use.
I’ll be honest I almost bought a 7900 xtx but amd brand rep is too bad that’s what turned me off, I ended up just saving up and got a 4090 so I didn’t have to worry about anything, yes it’s completely overpriced but it is the best gpu on the market. I understand why people are mad with nvidia the prices are just ridiculous but from my experience I never had any problems so I just stuck with nvidia but if people switch it’s understandable also I have a 7800x3d which is a beast n I recommend any gamer BUY it, only 80 watts under full load compared to. 14900k 270 🤮
This must be where the 1% of gamers are hanging out. 😂 Going from midrange 2060 super and 3070ti to The 4090 and 7800x3d combo has been awsome, playing at 4k with rt on is eyecandy even better with the new generation oled screens.
Lowering visual quality with upscaling so that we can get moderate performance in RT makes no sense whatsoever. AMD should be thinking out of the box and providing different features that people actually want. Nobody has asked for this Ray tracing garbage.
@frogboyx1Gaming you have told no lies lol. It'd amazing how GPU makers can create great GPU's then screw up the software that comes with them lol. Right now I can't get adrenaline to operate my fans on my 7900xt unless I take that option for "0° fan speed" off lol. I never had a problem with my fans working on the previous Adrenaline updates, but this new one? They got something backwards 😆.
@frogboyx1Gaming my cpu fan is way too big so the heat inside my case is always too much so I have to have the fans kick in a bit sooner than normal. That 0° thing used to not matter when adjusting, but now I have to turn it off completely to get my fans to follow the curve properly.
Theres level of ray tracing and the amd cards are fine for most of it. Problem is the heavy titles. Also the 5 titles frog is talking about are big games not stuff no one cares about. This was the issue i had with the xtx, i knew it would struggle out the box on some of these games and now time has proven me right. The 4080 has not let me down whereas id be down 5 games already and more since i use rt. Also 256 bus but faster cache...which we dont talk about...smaller funnel with way faster flow vs big funnell slower flow. Nuance. Here is some vram stats - tech power up all at 4k. Alan wake 2 Non rt - 12767 vram Path tracing + fg - 18354 vram Hogwarts legacy Non rt - 11877 vram Rt - 14576 vram Rachet and clank Non rt -9176 Rt - 13002 Cyberpunk Non rt - 9128 vram Pt - 15045 This is 4 games with really high vram where the 4080 beats the xtx esp in pt titles. Ray tracing reallly bumps up vram and automatically the amd top of line are giving up 45 to 150% on these titles to the second best nvidia card. My point is just because the vram is there doesnt mean your safe.. because you need the base of the card to be strong enough esp with ray tracing. Alan wake 2 is a great example 18g vram...xt should be fine and the xtx should kill it...but you have to use upscaler which brings vram down then the rt cores just give the 4080 a huge advantage Now without rt the amd cards will do more than fine. But this idea that oh my card has this much vram hence its a 4k or 1440p is just not true. Dont just look at pen and paper...look at real life performance.
Bro my Rx 6800 doesn't even struggle with games. only 1 or 2 when RT is on like alan wake 2 but with no RT it is fine. RT is overrated anyway. Not even just fine fricking amazing my gpu on my 165 hertz 1440p monitor or my 120 hertz 4k TV. can get like 200 fps in lords of the fallen with 1440p ultra with AFMF on. yeah well struggling with the latest games not. lol. struggling with games on a 7900xtx 🤣🤣your'e chatting 💩💩mate.
@@Steelninja77 go look at the fps numbers on those games. Hogwarts with rt is 6fps 😂. We know the cyberpunk games and Alan Wake 2 but these are all heavy rt games that the AMD cards just struggle with. The xtx out the box is absolutely getting annihilated in those games esp with path tracing. Of course you said rt is over rated...on a 6800xt your right. I wouldn't be using rt either on that card so you're not wrong. it's common knowledge AMD need to get better at rt esp path tracing don't get why you would deny that lol.
I dropped my vram and nvidia advantage at rt comment, but now im gonna give props where due. Amd in recent years have not gave you a card which was strong enough but gimped with low vram - 3080. Also majority of games use lighter rt ..esp amd sponsored games have a look its not the 50% hit as normal. Also to be fair i think upscaling up may cause more vram so amd may have a better advantage there except for the 4090...i haven't tested this though. But even in alan wake 2 froggy you upscaled but used fsr ultra performance which would drop vram. Edit - just watched your 6k alan wake 2 video vram allocated is 18.3g but its using 13032g. This is using fsr ultra performance (1080p). Pt is actually more demanding vram wise than this. I think the nvidia cards are overpriced but have a big advantage with ray tracing ..but price wise you cant beat amd right now. And i actually believe the xt is a better card for value than the xtx..if i spent 750 and my cards giving up some rt games ...im ok with that...i spend close to a grand and my card gives up rt games....im pissed. This is my way of thinking ill respect you may have different criteria as well.

No, of course not. That would reek of incompetence and it just doesn't happen with NVIDIA. Instead they shipped out ray reconstruction and continue to push the industry forward and now AMD just has another feature they be forced to poorly imitate.
Nvidia is a trash 😂 more money for nothing 😂
@@YuiA-yi9xm Suuuure. And when Horizon Forbidden West drops tomorrow I'll be enjoying it at 4K DLAA with my 4090. Dragon's Dogma 2 will also be utilizing DLSS3 so it'll have proper frame generation.
Meanwhile you got broken FSR3 implementations in TLOU Part 1 and the Avatar update that was supposed to fix the HUD problems with FSR3 just broke the feature. Looking real good over there on Team Red.
I agree with you what ngreedia is doing is bad to all gamers. But the thing is since nvdia is having market share 70% of it or more most new games are optimized better on it games i mean not the top triple aaa title but titles like new multiplayer titles like ark ascended grayzone warfare etc always be sponsoer by nvidia and runs better on it so as a gamer who likes this multiplayer titles thats getting released am forced to grab a nvdia gpu for a premium.Look at ark ascended 7900xt cant even give stable 30 fps at ultra settings 1440 p mean while 4070 or even 4060 runs it on FG and dlss with playable 50-60 fps.I really like amd its price worth but sadly i have to go nvdia so i can play those titles sadly.Plus in my country amd cards are overpriced due to having more vram for some reason.
im still undecided between the 4070 ti super and 7900xt here in canada the 4070 ti super is more expensive
I think both are good but its hard to justify the extra cost for the Nvidia card. 7900XT is an absolute beast
Unless your going to use exclusively raytracing titles or heavy video editing I’d get the 7900XT. I got it because of the higher vram. And when I use things like DaVinci resolve I haven’t had any problems yet. Plus the AMD ReLive is stupid easy to use.
@@thedodob1rd i will be streaming and editing videos so thats why im undecided
Come on bro show the vrs we no how much u love it .
I have made multiple videos for it I will make some more though
To be fair I have a 7800x3d so amd still got some of my money 🤣🤣
@@giarc00007 I have a 27 inch lg ultra gear 4k

This must be where the 1% of gamers are hanging out. 😂
Going from midrange 2060 super and 3070ti to The 4090 and 7800x3d combo has been awsome, playing at 4k with rt on is eyecandy even better with the new generation oled screens.
Lowering visual quality with upscaling so that we can get moderate performance in RT makes no sense whatsoever. AMD should be thinking out of the box and providing different features that people actually want. Nobody has asked for this Ray tracing garbage.
I like my 7900xt, but I hate their updates on Adrenaline. Adrenaline could be better.
What is your problem with adrenaline?
It's way better than Nvidia control panel
@frogboyx1Gaming you have told no lies lol. It'd amazing how GPU makers can create great GPU's then screw up the software that comes with them lol. Right now I can't get adrenaline to operate my fans on my 7900xt unless I take that option for "0° fan speed" off lol. I never had a problem with my fans working on the previous Adrenaline updates, but this new one? They got something backwards 😆.
@@alderoth01 interesting I don't adjust my fans
@frogboyx1Gaming my cpu fan is way too big so the heat inside my case is always too much so I have to have the fans kick in a bit sooner than normal. That 0° thing used to not matter when adjusting, but now I have to turn it off completely to get my fans to follow the curve properly.
If people continue to give Nvidia their money, AMD will drop out of the GPU race and we will all be screwed!
Alan wake 2
Non rt - 12767 vram
Path tracing + fg - 18354 vram
Hogwarts legacy
Non rt - 11877 vram
Rt - 14576 vram
Rachet and clank
Non rt -9176
Rt - 13002
Cyberpunk
Non rt - 9128 vram
Pt - 15045
This is 4 games with really high vram where the 4080 beats the xtx esp in pt titles. Ray tracing reallly bumps up vram and automatically the amd top of line are giving up 45 to 150% on these titles to the second best nvidia card.
My point is just because the vram is there doesnt mean your safe.. because you need the base of the card to be strong enough esp with ray tracing. Alan wake 2 is a great example 18g vram...xt should be fine and the xtx should kill it...but you have to use upscaler which brings vram down then the rt cores just give the 4080 a huge advantage
Now without rt the amd cards will do more than fine.
Nvidia is no longer pricing gpus based on the gaming market, AI has taken over the market and prices will continue to climb
First it was crypto now it AI
Still using Bulldozer in 2024.
I don't buy into the hype am team amd all the way never looked back from I switched to amd
i've chosen amd cuz strong low 1%
The hell with PC and console gaming. The hell with video games. Clipping in games should be a thing of the past. I'll live.
why are you here then lol.
i like amd but nvidia has now lower power draw amazing upscaling dlss and much much faster raytracing
For money ? Nah
ive only seen 2 videos of vsr
I made a bunch of them. But don't worry I will keep making them.
Aren't you embarrassed to tell the same story 140x times ? What is that, brainwash ?
Why would I be embarrassed when the rate of NEW viewers for these videos is 83%? That means that 83 out of 100 views are people who have never watched any of my videos, therefore bringing in more viewers to my channel.
@@frogboyx1Gaming i understand your point, but man you are a simpathetic guy, you really need to bring other content, maye upgrade to an 7800x3d for example and make content of that, or so. And also the carnivore diet stuff i would open a new channel for that topicto differenciate.
