Above and Beyond have been my favourite dance act/producers since I Saw them in Manchester in 2004, about 800 people in a sweaty little overcrowded venue called The Phoenix. It truly was a NYE to remember! That club is closed now, nothing like it exists In our town any more but the memories of A&B in such a small intimate venue will last the rest of my life. Am I the only one who misses TATW? Honestly preferred it to ABGT..
Nick Cook i feel you mate. Trance is just not big enough anymore, they (and we) have to accept it in someway.
Just listening to Alright Now and the supersaws are too much. There are some decent tracks in this mix (Memory Lane my favourite, appropriately) but personally I've had enough of supersaws as lead melodies. Surely A&B can combine their classic lead sounds with their chunky, percussion-heavy style of today... I do indeed miss the old days. Keep the 128bpm pace, no problem, just a bit of diversity wouldn't go amiss now.
Yes, TATW was better and more awesome and less poppy. So trance is not as big now :( Waaa deep house and pop don't cut it for me. There must be some space for progressive trance. Mix seems trancey so far.
