      Kyoraku's Bankai is supposed to be a play about a man and a woman commiting a suicide pact. Each move's name is part of their story. First the man hits the woman, then he feels her pain and he's stroke with an uncurable depression; later they both throw themselfes to the river but the man cowards and tries to escape at the end the woman cuts his throat.

      I like this actually. In the episode, we see the silhouette of his Zanpakuto spirit as a child for a brief moment. His bankai is based on a play of some kind, a form of entertainment usually enjoyed more by adults, so that makes a lot of sense. I wonder if he has more than one type of play in his repertoire?

      @@Filhy123 I also heard that going around. I was thinking he had to develop each act first, and the story of each act need to relate to each other. And the "damage" or effect of each acts need to make sense toward their power system (reiatsu and stuff). And we don't know how long the time he needs to craft each storyline. But the possibilities of his bankai could be endless.
      OR his bankai need to be based of real Plays (just like the children game is real), yet for each Play, he needs to develop it first too. So while he can't just make things up, he can train his bankai to have another attacks based on another real story.
      If he can make it up about anything and anytime, that should fall more into Senjumaru's bankai.

    • @Filhy123

      @alkalostrytoart1024 I searched it up and didnt find anything saying he can create his own stories and develop it. It might be a good theory but kubo never said anything. Since ukitake didn't let him use bankai not to affect others that's the only story he has. The name of the bankai also refers to that story in particular

    The Soul King was a transcendent being with his primary power being Quincy, while Ichigo is a a transcendent being with balanced power, and Aizen is a transcendent being with his primary power being Shinigami. I would give a 99% chance that there will be a flashback to the era when he divided the worlds (remember, we've already seen a tiny flash of that with the three arrows stuck into the water) that will provide more info.
    Shunsui didn't want to use his bankai against Stark, as his sword is indiscriminate. If you are in the area, it could decide to include you in the play he is acting out. With a reality-warping insta-kill effect, this would be very bad.
    Barro's explanation was less clear than in the manga. Basically, when he has both eyes open, his body is intangible. If you look back, he actually blocked an attack from Nimaya using this, where the infinitely sharp sword phased through him. Also, his form is based on a biblically-accurate angel.

    【京楽春水(SYUNSUI KYORAKU)】
    He is the current captain of The Gotei 13.
    Formerly the captain of the 8th Division, he succeeded Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto as the captain of The Gotei 13.
    He has been a talented Soul Reaper with Jūshirō Ukitake, the current captain of The Gotei 13 and 13th Division, since his days at Spiritual Arts Academy, and after graduation he became the first captain from Spiritual Arts Academy. After graduation, he became the first captain from Spiritual Arts Academy.
    As a side note, he loves to drink and has a weakness for women.
    He has a pair of zanpakuto "Katen Kyōkotsu," which is very rare in the Soul Society, and fights by manipulating his ability to "turn children's games into reality.
    He plays with Lille Barro in "Daruma-san ga koronda", "Kage Oni", and "Kage Okuri".
    【リジェ・バロ(LILLE BARRO)】
    Schrift stands for "X", the ability to "penetrate all things = The X-axis".
    According to Nakk Le Vaar, he is "the masterpiece Quincy who was first empowered by Yhwach" and the closest man to God.
    He is able to use his sniper rifle "Diagramm" to equally penetrate everything between the muzzle and the target.
    Lille's "Diagramm" is in the shape of a gun, but is essentially a "bow" like any other Quincy, a weapon he created from his own Reishi.
    "Daruma-san ga koronda"
    In the U.S., it is similar to "Red light, green light!" or "Statues".
    The rules, as Kyoraku briefly explained, are that the person playing the role of the demon faces a wall, a tree, or a telephone pole with his or her back to the participants and says "Daruma-san ga koronda" in a loud voice.
    The person may say it slowly, quickly, or change the tempo in the middle of the sentence, but must not look back until he or she has finished saying it.
    If any participant moves even slightly when looking back after saying the word, the demon will point it out, and the participant who has moved will be disqualified.
    The disqualified participant becomes the ogre's prisoner and cannot escape until the participant is touched by the demon.
    Basically, the game continues until the demon captures all participants or one of the participants touches the demon.
    Daruma-san is an Indian Buddhist monk named Bodhidharma, who is familiarly called "Daruma-san" in Japan.
    It is said that he sat facing a wall for nine years, during which time his hands and feet rotted away, giving rise to the legend, from which the toy Daruma was born.
    As an aside, "Daruma" is also used as a gore expression to refer to a person whose limbs have been amputated.
    Koronda means "fell down," and although there are various theories as to why this call was made, it is believed to have originated from Daruma's fortitude in getting up even after falling down.
    "Kage Oni"
    More accurately, it is "Kagefumi oni".
    In the U.S., it is similar to "Tag".
    In Japan, there is a game called "Oni gokko," which is almost the same as "Tag," but "Kagefumi oni" is a derivative of it. In "Tag," the players usually switch chasers by touching, but in "Kagefumi oni," they switch by stepping on their opponent's shadow.
    "Kage" means shadow, "Fumi" means step on, and "Oni" means daemon(the chaser).
    The person whose shadow is stepped on is often unaware that he or she has been stepped on, and the two often argue about whether he or she has been stepped on or not.
    "Kage Okuri"
    This is a game that uses the phenomenon that if you stare at your shadow for 10 seconds on a clear day and then immediately stare at the sky, the shape of your shadow will be reflected in the sky.
    A kind of afterimage effect.
    19:22 Karamatsu Shinju
    "Karamatsu" means a dead pine tree, and "Shinju" means lovers' suicide.
    There is a Kabuki play called Sonezaki Shinju, which is probably the motif of this play.
    This one is a sad story about a man named Tokubē who worked in his uncle's house and a prostitute named Ohatsu.
    Tokubē had a girlfriend named Ohatsu, but his uncle liked Tokubē, who worked diligently, and wanted him to marry his daughter and take charge of the store.
    Tokubē refuses, saying that he cannot marry her because he has a girlfriend, but his uncle still pushes him into the marriage and has already given the betrothal money to his stepmother.
    When Tokubē still adamantly refuses that he cannot marry her because he has a lover, his uncle becomes angry and banishes Tokubē.
    His uncle also forbade Tokubē from doing business in town and demanded that he repay him within a week for the clothes he had put up.
    * At the time, well-made clothes were quite expensive.
    Tokubē tries to get the money back from his stepmother and return the money to his uncle, but his friend asks him to lend him some money.
    Tokubē lends money to his friend with a deadline of three days.
    However, when the due date arrives, the friend does not return the money and, conversely, treats Tokubē as a swindler and beats him up in public, saying he knows nothing about such a loan.
    Tokubē is no longer able to return the betrothal money to his uncle, but he decides to prove by dying that he did not embezzle the money, only that he was cheated by his friend.
    * Seppuku is a well-known example of this, but in old Japan there was the idea of proving one's innocence by dying.
    When Tokubē heads to meet Ohatsu before he dies, a visitor arrives and Ohatsu hides Tokubē under the floor.
    The visitor was a friend who had tricked Tokubē.
    He tells the story of how he tricked him, and when he is satisfied with the trick, he leaves.
    Tokubē tells Ohatsu that he will die, and Ohatsu agrees to go along with him.
    They tied each other to a pine tree and prepared to die, but Tokubē hesitated to kill Ohatsu at the last moment.
    Ohatsu asks Tokubē to kill him quickly, and Tokubē, determined to do so, takes Ohatsu's life and then takes his own.
    The story ends with the two men praying that they will be united in the next life.
    Karamatsu is thought to be inspired by the pine tree from this time.
    21:55 Ohana
    The voice actor is Ami Koshimizu of Holo fame.
    The child who pulls Kyoraku's hand at 12:19 may be Katen, since their hair styles are similar.
    Incidentally, Katen is written in Kanji characters as "花天," and "花" is also read as Hana, so Kyoraku calls her "Ohana".
    In the past, women's names were sometimes prefixed with "O".

    Kyoraku said against Stark I think that he couldn't activate his bankai because of his surroundings. It is a very powerful area bankai like Shinji's, he also couldn't activate his bankai against Aizen, also Shinji's bankai is the exact opposite of Kyoraku, both are area unique (let's say domain expansion bankai's) however Shinji's is more suited for a large amount of enemies, while Kyoraku's is more suited for a 1 vs 1 and both can't be used when allies friends and comrades are around because they would also be effected by it.

  • @sofarsogood8680
    @sofarsogood8680 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    I still remember when Stark asked Kyoraku about Hitsugaya's bankai after trapping Halibel in icy tower made from flower-snowy heavy downpour, something like this "are all captains' bankai strong like him?" , then he replied " cptn hitsugaya is a prodigy, he might surpass me in 100 years" . Thus Stark said that, " So , you're still the strongest right now"
    This is might a stretch but it might a hint on how his bankai also can affected large area just like hyourinmaru's powerful technique involved AoE .
    Also Askin vs Ichigo was settled offscreen in the manga, so it will interesting to see what actually happened during their skirmish. Bear in mind, most people might not see this , but Askin's death dealing is actually OP

  • @brtruev1710
    @brtruev1710 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

    As always:
    -Ziliel means something akin to "judgement of god". Lille is, actually, a super prototype for the concept of Schrifts. It's kinda interesting that his Vollstandig resembles Arceus from Pokemon, which does have a move called "Judgement". Now we see from where Kubo took the idea.
    -Kyouraku's Bankai is based on the "suicide theater", a play that appears sometimes in Japanese media. A pair of lovers make a suicide pact and goes through it. Another example is in Ace Attorney, where two lovers make a pact of swallowing poison if they ever doubted each other. As an aside, Kubo clarified in a Q&A that, if anyone dies during the first "acts" prior to the finale, the Bankai automatically ends due to not having enough "actors" to keep the "play" going.
    -Now you see why Ukitake advised against Kyouraku using his Bankai against Starrk? Also, as the eye catcher stated, Askin was the one who made the exposition about Lille being the first Quincy to receive a Schrift. And, as another aside, it was revealed that Yhwach can give Schrifts even for Shinigamis and Hollows if he so desires. So, while the translation isn't necessarily wrong, it clearly meant "Quincy".
    -Katen's design came, indeed, from the Zanpakutou Rebellion arc, but the arc is still filler. Her VA also changed from that arc, now being voiced by Ami Koshimizu (also known as Yukiko Amagi from Persona 4 and Mai Shiranui from King of Fighters).

    • @brtruev1710
      @brtruev1710 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@Mayank_MJ I'll clarify it for you:
      In CFYOW, Kyouraku mentions to Nanao that his friend, the 7th Kenpachi (Kuruyashiki) had his Bankai barred from use within the Seireitei due to indiscriminately attacking everyone in its range. He mentions that while taking about his and Shinji's Bankai as a way to exemplify why they couldn't use it in front of everyone but theirs weren't banned by Central 46 and to give her a hint about how dangerous Shinji's Bankai is
      Yamamoto's Zanka no Tachi wasn't banned, either. To the point he even used it against Royd!Yhwach. Unohana only mentions that he should hurry up or, otherwise, the SS would be destroyed by its power.
      Some people, however, took it as proof that their Bankai were banned, despite no supplementary material ever confirming that fact. It's the same as to why the Vizards didn't use their Hollow powers during the invasion: they think it was forbidden but it wasn't. Kubo simply forgot or didn't want to.

      To add further to your detailed comment, 7th Kenpachi’s bankai might be banned not only because it’s indiscriminate of people, but because it literally eats space with reishi still in it. Azashiro thought he would lose against Kuruyashiki if he would’ve left the latter use his bankai.

    16:30 The translation is wrong, in Japanese it says Lille Barro is the first "Quincy" to receive power from Yhwach. For some reason the translation is taking the Kanji translation for Quincy (Holy Executioner/Destroyer) as Soul Reaper.
    For the non-Japanese words in Bleach, Kubo uses kana to show the readers how it's pronounced, but gives his intended meaning for the word in Kanji that he decides based on what he wants. For example Quincy is officially written 滅却師 (Holy Executioner) in Kanji, but is pronounced クインシー (Quincy) in series.

    Having not read the manga, my guess is Kyoraku's Bankai reenacts a story/play. Incidentally, this one resulted in the death of one of the characters (his main target). I expect death is guaranteed if Kyoraku is allowed to reach the end of the play, as that characters death is made reality just like the kid's games. I'd be curious to know if that's the only story his Bankai can do, or if he can do others that can target whole groups for death or stories that DON'T result in death at all but some other desired end.

    I'm surprised anyone believed that Mayuri had so easily defeated a member of Yhwach's Schutzstaffel.
    ===
    Lille's Spirit Rifle: Diagramm (ディアグラム, Diaguramu; German for "Diagram"; Viz "Diagramme")
    ===
    Fun Fact: In the original release of Chapter 646, Lille says he is the last Quincy to be given a Schrift. It was changed to first Quincy in Chapter 656. The Japanese release of Volume 71 corrected 646 and changed it to first; however, the official English release of Volume 71 keeps the mistake. I'm glad the anime made sure acknowledge the fixed error.
    ===
    Lille Barro is a much more accurate take on an Angel than the humanoid with feathered wings you tend to see in modern fiction. This makes sense since the Sternritter are supposed to basically be Angels of God with the Schutzstaffel being the equivalent of Archangels.
    ===
    Unless they decide to adapt some of Can't Fear Your Own World's material then I don't see anime-onlys understanding Irazusando unless they either get told what Kubo has said about it or they look it up.

    Shunsui's Bankai brings to life a Japanese four act play. A "Japanese four act play" typically refers to a story structure called "Kishōtenketsu," which consists of four parts: "ki" (introduction), "shō" (development), "ten" (twist), and "ketsu" (conclusion); essentially a unique narrative framework where the central focus is often on a pivotal "twist" rather than a traditional conflict-driven climax.
    Though the term is Japanese, this structure is rooted in East Asian storytelling traditions, with origins traceable to China.
    Structure Breakdown:
    -Ki (Introduction): Sets the scene and introduces the characters.
    -Shō (Development): Further develops the characters and plot, seemingly following a logical progression.
    -Ten (Twist): A sudden shift in perspective or unexpected development occurs, marking the central point of the story.
    -Kets (Conclusion): Ties up loose ends, often with a sense of resolution or reflection, sometimes incorporating elements from the "ten" twist.
    Unlike a typical western three-act structure where the climax is the main tension point, Kishōtenketsu places more emphasis on the "ten" (twist) as the story's central moment.
    Kishōtenketsu often focuses on character development and subtle shifts in understanding rather than overt conflict.

    I hope people now understand that Ukitake didn't let Shunsui use his Bankai in Fake Karakura Town because it's indiscriminate to his allies and enemies alike.
    ===
    Katen is nicknamed "Ohana" (お花) and she nicknamed Shunsui "Sakuranosuke" (桜の助). I'm not going to state Kyōkotsu's nickname.
    Kubo designed many of the Zanpakuto spirits used in the filler arc so while the filler isn't canon many of the spirits are.

    The second "BABY, HOLD YOUR HAND" was the one I was talking about looking forward to. Last episode had a lot better pacing than I thought and I thought they were going to shove all of it in one episode. That voice in the end credit was Nemu.

      This is why Shinji couldn't use his bankai before either, so yeah definitely makes sense now! Hyped to see Nemu in action! Thanks for all the explanations!

    Lily barro form is based on biblical angels
    The weird dozens eyed wings angels
    That look inhumane
    Like what angels always said
    Dont be afraid when they talk to humans

    When I read Lille Barro with Swedish eyes it says Little Barro😂
    14:52 That is so ugly and it just gets worse 😂
    15:10 I definitely prefer him as Veltol in Maou 2099 this season😂
    20:41 He looks so awesome 😍

    So sad we didn't get to see Ukitake's Bankai. If it is anything close to how strong his Bestfriend's is, it would've been OP too.
    Also think he's would've been a good match against Quincies. To absorb and release is such a good ability against them.

    The cards are wrong, they put Shinigami and is Quincy.
    This is a Bankai of area if you are close when Kyoraku release his bankai you are trapped too and suffer the same of the enemy, you can escape only if you survive the final act. This is because Kyorako apologize to Nanao she could to be affect by the Bankai.

    Yea the reason why he didnt used bankai on the fkt arc against stark
    The location was too small compared to the soul palace
    Yea everyone feels it but they werent in its kill zone
    He said they were in the entrance where the gate opened for them so its in another dan or city
