Cambodia has come a very long way. I left the city at the end of 1979 but most of my family twelve members did not survive the killing fields. Greeting from Khmer in America. Enjoy and safe travels!
@@dieglhix It's a big difference between the Communism / socialism and capitalism. Under communism, you have zero freedom with an absolute totalitarian system. Phnom Pen Cambodia is a great city.. Royal Palace is an unique building i hope next time i can visit Cambodia for holiday. I suggest you for visit ny country.
Phnom Penh is one of my favourite cities worldwide. It's the one capital city where you immediately feel at ease. Yes, it has one or two negatives - piles of street refuse, being one - but it literally has everything for everyone plus an extremely low cost of living. But, will you go partying 24/7 in Street 136? Cheers 🍺
I really enjoy your videos Jason The Cambodians I met here in 🇺🇸 were relatives of Pol Pot. I travelled on my vacations from 20-72. I have been retired for 6 years. The fruit looks delicious, and displayed so beautifully. I loved the music and the markets.
Phnom Penh appears to have some very pleasing features I really like the Royal Palace. It is claimed Cambodia is still a poor country but they have come a long way since the days of Pol Pot.
How many billions of the population there and the security of the police there,,,iam from india, city of Delhi,,, i interest visit you country Cambodia
Great travel videos Jason. Question regarding the hostels - is there a place in the hostels for people to secure their suitcases/bags - any type of lockers? Or does one have to bring one's luggage when leaving the hostel to see sites? The hostel in your Saigon video last week looked great but I do not know what the story is with securing belongings. Thanks.
All good hostels including the ones in Saigon and here in Phnom Penh have lockers. It’s best to bring your own padlock with you, so you can secure your things.
Look beautiful country in. Cambodia very nice temper very good nice friendly people you very lucky to see all this beautiful country. Thank you for sharing , 22--11--18.
We went to Phnom Penh this October n we were really impressed how far they hav come since the civil war. We liked it a lot n recommend ppl to check it out n see how a country can turn around from devastation.
I find particularly interesting the places where everyday Cambodians are doing everyday things. Nothing against "this is for tourists" places and businesses. I have visited several countries and especially appreciate where locals go and how they live.
That area looks very nice. Question for you...when you arrived in Vietnam, did immigration as you for a forwarding/exiting ticket whether by air, bus, train, etc?
Hi John, when I arrived in Vietnam they did not ask me for proof of onward travel. In my experience, it’s the airline that tends to ask the questions, usually when checking in front the country you’re departing from.
oh...so does that mean that you pre booked your bus journey from HCMC to PP before you got on your flight to Vietnam. I think I will do that...can book a $10 throwaway bus ticket and then decide when to leave later. thanks
You can do that for piece of mind. I actually didn't book book my bus to Phnom Penh until about a week before, so they didn't ask me anything. But if you know what date you're leaving the country, and where you want to go next, you may as well book it beforehand just in case.
We usually took Kumho Samco bus (for locals) as it has more legroom. Make sure ask them with newer bus hours and price was $10. If you wanted buses with foreigners, Giant Ibis is supreme with more legroom / new buses and the price was about $15. Safe travels!
