I always put Until Dawn as my number one game of all time, it was the pioneer for movie like games that actual had real choices (sadly looking at you telltale…) but Detroit was a great game as well and had even more consequence for choices

i love narrative games and grew up loving them, and it's really no surprise to me that i want to be a writer now lol. i can rewatch playthroughs of the games u covered in this video over and over and still love them, especially when played differently by newer youtubers. this was a great video!

when detroit appeared it felt so special. But i wasn t able to play it until the pandemic came. I still remember going to the hospital on a very late dark night and feeling joy knowing i get to play dbh when i get home. It s scary and amazing how this game has been through every phase of my life and i still play it. Growing up and replaying it i realise i m focused on other parts of the story or even understand it better. When i was little or a highschooler my friends couldn t grasp the fact that i prefer solo story based games

This was such a brilliant video. So well put together and greatly articulated. You’ve got my sub off this one video alone and I can’t wait to watch more!
I am, compared to you and to those of your age watching this video, an old man by comparison.
As a child, games (mostly in the sega in our household) were all gameplay over narrative. But then came the PlayStation, and games with more story, then the PlayStation 2 where narrative really came into its own. It was on these consoles that my love for gaming flourished. I’d always loved stories and these were stories where I was an active part of them. It’s this reason why the Ace Combat series of games are my favourite of all time. As that quote says at the end of this video, those games and the choices I made in those narratives shaped me into who I am now.
With the PlayStation 3 there was a weird crossover between games focussed on online gameplay and story, but even then I remember the thing me and my friends were most excited about in Modern Warfare 2 was the continuation of the story. For a while it felt like gaming had done a loop where it was more focussed on gaming experience and mechanics than narrative, but then with games like those mentioned in this video we really got the ‘second coming’, so to speak, of narrative gameplay.
I’m so glad it’s having another golden age with so many rich narratives within games at the moment.
The future of gaming is bright, and I know a lot of us who grew up witnessing this cyclical change will be gaming until we die.

cryaotic was one of my biggest heartbreak. in middle school, i started watching him more instead of pewds for the last of us because he kept fucking around while cryaotic actually took his time to read files and loot the places, his gameplays were so comforting to me and it was just sad watching his downfall.
growing up, i couldn't afford those games nor the gear for it so i experienced them vicariously through youtube gamers, and i have no shame calling them my fav games despite never playing them, they just mean a lot yaknow? but now that i have some adult money (and steam sales) i finished my own playthrough of the walking dead and heavy rain a couple of months ago and it made my inner tween self sooo happy!

Detroit is probably the single worst civil rights allegory I’ve ever experienced.
It’s incredibly pandering and overly simplistic on incredibly complex and very real themes. It’s as if Michael Bay tried to direct a holocaust drama. Just don’t, for gods sake, leave it to more capable hands. I played it for literally $3 and I still felt I got ripped off by it.

@@ladhassaan3463 No I do understand that. Basing that on how I look is pretty naive. I can appreciate and praise something despite how it was created. Top Gun Maverick for example, has a horrible foundation but is a great movie nonetheless. Also, corps might be milking the woke agenda, but corps milk everything. I don't mind in this case, as it actually helps represent minorities
