I love the improvements ZT made here. The pivot, the internal milling, especially the "Zero Tolerance" milled internally, the minimal branding. It's really just excellently done.
ESB- I really like the improvements. A little leery of the red. How does it look in person? Really like the new pivot and less branding. I love trailing points. Thanks for the early share.
I bought one and love it now but had to make a modification. It wouldn't flip with my finger or fingers resting on the lock bar frame. So I took it apart and removed the screw holding the over travel plate in place and bent the frame a few thousands of an inch to take the pressure off the detente and now it is perfect. Thanks for a great video.
I love all the models ZT made this year the one thing I wished they changed with the 462 is the sharpening notch isn’t big enough to clear the plunge grind witch is why the secondary is uneven great vid though
Seriously, where were these guys a year ago? Could have kept my hedonic treadmill on slow for a little longer. Then again, I guess I can buy all 3 for the cost of a single custom. Thank goodness they got the CF color right, the -baby poop- bronze color didn't do much for me.
Awesome vid, looks like I’m putting in a pre-order! I’m very happy about the option for left carry, and the flipper tab looks more finger-friendly than the 0460.
The 0460 turned out to be too small for my usage, but a brilliant knife with drop shot at that size, slichy shape and perfect action. The 0462 however removes the small, the "zero tolerance" on clip and moves up the size to usable for me. Think it'll be my best knife of the year. It's a must have in my book.
It would be interesting to compare it to the 0452CF . I didn't buy the 0460 because it's the same size as he 0450 and i sold mine . It was to small and the stupid point poked me in the pinky .
kerryrwac Love my 452cf and the 462 has better steel and nicer looking carbon fiber. Digging the Persian curve. Just ordered one from Knifecenter, $240. Bladehq only had preorders.
Thanks for your help, I bought the ZT0462 instead of the Spyderco Mamba, it's a great knife. I am going to pickup the 0460 as well for an EDC, the 0462 isnt legal in my state to carry (and I always follow stupid laws) and at the price point of the 0460 if it gets wear and tear I don't mind.
The 460 is good for small hands, the 462 is easier to hold for bigger hands. This is a big difference. I have both; the small bronze (its listed as bronze on the description, not brown) 460 fits my wife’s hand, the 462 fits my hand perfectly. I love the semi-Persian design. It slices like a razor and the fit and finish if amazing. ZT is my favorite brand now.
Nice looking knife - good to see "normal" sized blades being offered for a change too. Getting tired of seeing all these newer models with nice overall designs, only to find out they come with tiny blades. IMO, would have been better with blacked-out pivot hardware, and some thumb-ramp jimping.
Baz on Blades Yep. Love my 452cf and this 462 has better steel and nicer looking carbon fiber. I like that Persian style curve too. A little different and more unique.
Nice review. You made a comment that the edge wasn't great and pointed out how the secondary grind rises as you get closer to the choil. Even if the grinds were done correctly, I would expect that area to rise because the primary grind gets thicker closer to the choil.
True, but the lock side has a consistent secondary bevel whereas the show side does not. Either way, I'm not going to worry about it since it's rather minor.
Love the knife looks and size but it is somewhat difficult for me to flip. It seems that even the slightest pressure any place on the lockbar makes it impossible to flip. I have many flippers that require a hold away from the lockbar but I can’t seem to find a secure grip on this knife without touching either the lockbar itself or the clip which rides on the lockbar. Any hint on how to hold this guy would be appreciated. Love your vids. I think they are the best in the business! I have purchased several knives based on your reviews and have not been disappointed yet.
Don't know exactly what you intend by smaller in hand, but the more neutral grip of the 0452 might make it feel like a smaller/thinner overall profile.
Apologies, I should have worded it a bit better. Which one feels more comfortable in your hand. I have previously held a 452 and I recall it feeling a little big. I'm struggling to get hold of a 462 to compare.
I know this is an older review but, I did, this past week, pickup their Sprint run version 0462blk and I am loving it!! Here's a funny thing. I almost didn't purchase this knife on the grounds of, it utilizes CPM s35vn steel as opposed to their standard run with higher grade of 20cv steel. This being said, I thought to myself,"are you ever going to utilize the full potential of either steel either way"? The answer is absolutely not. I am a moderate collector but, that being said my desire can sometimes get the better of me. Just earlier today I was somewhat at war with myself to purchase a Benchmade Contego -the Blade Works exclusive with m390-. Someone had one available, in new condition for a relatively inexpensive price. The kicker is, I have actually already owned the black m4 steel tactical model and also two different m390 versions already. All three of which have been sold off. Lol, there is an issue there for sure. I have one more purchase on its way. This being another Sprint run by ZT, the 0452WBW. The white carbon fiber plus a stonewashed black blade of s35vn steel, why yes ma'am!!!!!! Anyways, that's just me carrying on about something I am passionate about as well! You somewhat introduced we to this world of higher quality knives, and I thank you kindly. Have a great day and keep up the good work 👍 Keith...
They still messed up the sharpening choil, which is sad. That, and the fact that the handle hangs way too far forward over a good portion of the edge, makes me think that sharpening it will be obnoxious.
Not a fan of that knife style personally...but cuddos to ZT for the tech work...Making a knife that large with that weight class, at that price in 2018, .. is just fantastic!...not to mention the fit and finish. Yeah..the branding on the clip of the 0460 is, in a word "hideous"(to me)...so.... no branding on the clip would be nice, but the new knife is an improvement, as with the blade and the CF. Very good listening on ZT's part. I have a ZT0580 in the mail right now (my 1ZT!..but not for everyone...I know)...and I definitely have an eye on the ZT0095BW. Glad to see that ZT implements customer input...in this transformation, it looks "all good"!
I don’t see going away from S35 to much of an upgrade. There really isn’t any difference if so it’s very minimal. I may be a homer since S35 is my favorite steel
Love everything about this knife (especially cpm-20cv which is my fav BS) but the Persian-style blade shape.. just not my flavor, bums me out bc i need a new ZT in my life! Thx for the vid bro! Great job
So hard to believe this is what ZT was doing in 2018... and now they're on to mini slip joints, 0223s and 0022s... their total abandonment of brand identity in such a short time is truly shocking.
It was late, and had to rerecord the video because of a technical issue. The first take had info on the balance and ergos.. alas, the balance is at the first finger, right where it should be, and ergos are good, but some of the other ZT's have better ergos.
Dustin Jachim Will be my sixth. I think it's a beautiful piece. Love the 452cf Sinkevich design and the 462 has better steel and nicer looking carbon fiber. ZT, Spyderco, WE, and Real Steel are currently my favorite brands.
I don't like flippers because they require a different - and looser - hand-hold than thumb-stud openers and that can lead to a catastrophic mistake in a dangerous situation.
Removal of the far less offensive logo, do you here this MassDroop, manufactures with class selling a $200-$300 knife don't slather their name on the blade in hopes of a future sale with in my case has had just the opposite effect, I won't be buying another Drop knife until they remove your lousy logo from the A or B side of the blade. OK sorry I didn't mean to hijack your video but when you mentioned that ZT removed their logo it got me going, again. Thanks for the video, I was on the fence with this ZT, my first but now I think I will be buying one as Amazon has them for $200 and SMKW has the G10 version for $165 so at those prices I think I will be buying my first ZT, as an Oregonian that is shameful.
EpicSnuggleBunny that’s fine. It’s just my personal experience that zt cannot stand up to the hard use I put on them. I’ve only found 2 so far out of almost all them that can.
EpicSnuggleBunny imo zt put more time and money into looking good, most people misinterpret that for fit and finish. Where as spyderco put more money In time working on the lock/ blade. Just my opinion from my existence use carrying both, I still like zt, but I wish they would charge more to fix the issues with about 95% if there models. Basically tighten up the tolerances. Good video tho really enjoyed it.
I disagree, I have several Spyderco USA and a few ZT knives, and the edge grind on a couple of my Spyderco knives is a little off near the tip and the frame, all of my ZT knives are perfect.
I love the improvements ZT made here. The pivot, the internal milling, especially the "Zero Tolerance" milled internally, the minimal branding. It's really just excellently done.
I never thought I'd edc a knife that big but it doesn't feel big in the pocket. I love it.
Damn the scales look way better with that slight change.
I got the sprint run of the 0462 in BW and tan G-10 and it is a really nice knife.
No other knife I have closes so smoothly and satisfyingly. Love it.
I have to agree
Looks like a great improvement over the 0460. I think I'll have to pick one up. Thanks for sharing.
ESB- I really like the improvements. A little leery of the red. How does it look in person? Really like the new pivot and less branding. I love trailing points. Thanks for the early share.
Looks great in person, much nicer than the 0460 color.
I like it quite subdued; I'd have liked a redish scale on the lock-side, but I love this one.
Glad you were able to optimize the knife for your use! Thanks for watching!
I love all the models ZT made this year the one thing I wished they changed with the 462 is the sharpening notch isn’t big enough to clear the plunge grind witch is why the secondary is uneven great vid though
I honestly quite liked the 'rusty' red carbon fiber, but that bright red looks goooood. I like the size upscale as well
Seriously, where were these guys a year ago? Could have kept my hedonic treadmill on slow for a little longer. Then again, I guess I can buy all 3 for the cost of a single custom. Thank goodness they got the CF color right, the -baby poop- bronze color didn't do much for me.
Wish it was plain CF though.
Really? Spyderco grind and polish is damn low and poorly executed at it's price point.

That's a good idea, very similar, but different.
kerryrwac Love my 452cf and the 462 has better steel and nicer looking carbon fiber. Digging the Persian curve. Just ordered one from Knifecenter, $240. Bladehq only had preorders.
This is something I wanted to see as a video. I want it more now that I’ve seen this
Nice one Mr. Bunny...i dig that cf...looks slick
Got this bad boy on pre order, love sinkevich designs.
SPECTRE 21 Knifecenter has them in stock, just ordered one. I saw Bladehq only had preorders.
A clear case of Bigger is Better.
Glad you're happy with it!
I just got the sprint run version of this with the tan G-10 and BW on the titanium and blade.
That was a nice sprint
@@EpicSnuggleBunny They have some still at BladeHQ last I checked and on sale.
Love the looks of this one-wish handle colours were varied though.Would love a dark blue.
You didn't sound too interested in this one yourself. Do you prefer the smaller version? How is the blade shape for EDC tasks? Thanks!
"Give our wallets a break"
Lmao
is the 462 the same size as a poluchotky?
The 460 is good for small hands, the 462 is easier to hold for bigger hands. This is a big difference. This will be a good partner for my 0452cf. I always liked this design, but the 460 was too small for me. Thanks for the look.
Baz on Blades Yep. Love my 452cf and this 462 has better steel and nicer looking carbon fiber. I like that Persian style curve too. A little different and more unique.

Hey snuggles, I'm about to get the 456 Black Version, can you recommend anything?
Like what?

I'm doing a live stream tonight, I'll hit this question.
EpicSnuggleBunny thanks, I watched your live stream and your advice was very helpful!
Trying to decide between the 462 and the 452. Which one is smaller in hand?
Don't know exactly what you intend by smaller in hand, but the more neutral grip of the 0452 might make it feel like a smaller/thinner overall profile.

The 0462 will also feel quite large in the hand. If you didn't like the 0452, I don't think the 0462 is for you either.
Have you ever had a zt lock fail? Im planning this 0462 to be my first zt so i want it to be perfect. Thanks
I personally have not.
@@EpicSnuggleBunny thanks
man awesome.lookimg knife. have the smaller version. can't wait to pick this one up. when does the larger version drop?

360p only?
Definitely an improvement, but I still hate all the text on the non show side. Is “Sinkevich Design” necessary?
No doubt Sinkevich thinks so
Well done Bro! Any idea when the 0609 will be here?

Is it my internet its not your usual quality video resolution?
I don’t see going away from S35 to much of an upgrade. There really isn’t any difference if so it’s very minimal. I may be a homer since S35 is my favorite steel
20 CV is significantly better but only if the heat treat is done right. ZT doesn’t do 20CV justice so yes it is barely any different than their S35VN.
Gotta say.. you didn't sound all that excited at all lol
Recorded the video at midnight, then passed out.
Love everything about this knife (especially cpm-20cv which is my fav BS) but the Persian-style blade shape.. just not my flavor, bums me out bc i need a new ZT in my life! Thx for the vid bro! Great job

LMAO, I look up and I see a silver handled dlc pm2 just like the one in my pocket... Flytanium Aluminum all day :)
I'll need to bore out that rear barrel for a lanyard hole :)
Anyone have the all black version or the tan? I'll buy both!! I've been looking forever. HMU please 🤞🙏🔪
Looks like Count Dooku's knife.
That it does!
Looks like the CTSmart YH11
Great video, thanks!
Love it 😊
The biggest problem is the stainless screws threading right into the titanium.. And they still did that crap
I've yet to hear an argument from any engineers about threading stainless steel into titanium.
This will be my first ZT knife!!! Great review

I’m gonna buy one

Yes
I don't like flippers because they require a different - and looser - hand-hold than thumb-stud openers and that can lead to a catastrophic mistake in a dangerous situation.
In the last 7 years, I've never had a problem, but you should definitely buy what you like.

Need to cut a bigger sharpening choil
Ivan Beard doesn’t matter with free hand 💪🏼

Spyderco high end manufacturing has better fit & finish then zt imo.
