Just a note to anyone reading: when you mix vinegar and baking soda, the chemical reaction can loosen some grime, but as soon as it’s done fizzing, the acid and base have neutralized each other. They literally become water at that point. It’s really more effective to scrub things with a baking soda paste and then spray on some vinegar if you want to take advantage of that fizzle, then wipe it all up. It’s a science game.

I found a recipe on Pinterest that uses dawn, peroxide and baking soda and let it sit for an hour before scrubbing. So far it’s worked well on my stove and oven 😀 Thanks for sharing!
Back several decades ago, when I was 19yrs old. I started using the combo of dawn dish soap and baking soda, back when "soft Scrub" was just a few years old. I found it almost as good at cleaning as the above but a BIG money saver. It was/is awesome to clean a very greasy tub after a dirty hard working person took a bath and in cleaning the kitchen and other like things. It cleans w/o scratching the finish and it is effortless in most of those thing getting clean. Oh and yes vinegar is a good added for stuff too. I found that the soap and soda needed a liquid to help activate it's cleaning component. Thanks for spreading its effectiveness. It truly is a super cheap and healthier way to clean easily!
I use PBW on all of my stainless steel in the house, including the oven racks. Soak in a few tablespoons of it and leave for 6 hours. Repeat until it all flakes off as necessary, especially if you don't want to scrub. It's also eco friendly and environmentally safe too for septic systems.
Put it BACK!!!! Put it BACK!!! OMG...I can't stop laughing!!! Girl you gonna give that man a heart attack!! The things we be trying and learning from the internet!!! Thanks for sharing!
I'm so glad I found this video and you're not the only one that finds it satisfying when you see how clean it get I mean it just satisfying and relaxing to me I've said this over and over before and you know it's just getting it done is what matters and then also I'm glad to have the motivation and some tips as well thank you
I use the Easy Off fume free. Heat up oven, turn off, spray on, shut door and leave overnight but not necessary. Works great. Yours looks great too. Thanks for sharing.
Yasssssss. That’s how to do it!! Push that OCD to the side and take control. Spray and wipe. Ya gotta get your shoulders in there and wipe the back but it all comes right off. Next time
Exactly!! That's how the kits work too, pour solution in the bag with the racks, seal up and four hours later it rinses off. Trash bag and oven cleaner is even cheaper, same principle.
She is just like me, I create a lot of mess when cleaning and when am done, I stand foot apart, hand on my hip and a big smile slapped across my face like there is a cape on my shoulder. Girl! Am so happy for you because I tell you, when one of those days come through for you, its like you won a lottery😅😅😅😅
I love your honesty!!!!! I have never cleaned my oven either!!! With three teenagers cooking, grease fires ect.its a gross mess! I am on TH-cam desperately searching for a quick fix for our three year grease mess!!! Thank you for posting!!!!
Self clean is chemicsl free nothing required hit the button snd go to bed...and i promise it works but that right there may have set the house on 🔥. Set a calendar to run the self clean every 90 days. Also run it now to finish off the lasy bit that didn't come off.
Agree! That’s what I do. But I do it twice a year (in the cooler months... I don’t want a hot kitchen for several hours in the summer). No chemicals required, just make sure that you take the racks out!
Wow, you did a great job! My oven was the same, hadnt been cleaned in years and you definitely couldnt see through the door! Literally took me FOUR DAYS to clean the whole thing!! I used a specific oven cleaner and that worked really well, (although you should check in the ovens manual/online to see what is safe to use on your oven) . I also took the door off- theres youtube videos that show you how, makes it so much easierto reach inside! It was extrememly satisfying to see the end result and im still happy every time I use it! Its funny the things we get excited about as adults! Oh also - the cover for the light screws off and is made of glass so I just popped mine in the dishwasher and it came out crystal clear!
I am so afraid of the fumes from oven cleaner I won’t use it. My solution is diluted awesome from dollar tree. It actually had my oven looking brand new. Although my oven wasn’t too bad, I needed to get it in great condition since I was moving
When my kid's was little. I've always just put "Baking Soda" all over inside of the oven and spray it with water where it's wet but not running everywhere. Before I go to bed I'd spray it down some more and if i get up in the middle of the night. The next morning I'd just take a damp towel and wipe it off. Then anyplace that it needs redone i just do it that day.. It's amazing how we did that. It was use military mom's helping each other and trying out new stuff that we already had at home...
Hey y’all! First off I’m not Jeff, I’m Theresa just so you know I’m not some man telling a woman how to do this. Lol okay, how to remove the average oven door, start with the door closed, open it just a bit, then grab it by the sides and pull up. That should do it. I have had three ovens and cleaned five different ovens and all of them have been like that, gas and electric. P.s. if you heat your oven just a bit with a pan of hot water in it, then try scrubbing the cleaner and gunk will come off easier.
I usually do it when the oven is warm. I use brillo steel wool pads with the baking soda and cleaning vinegar. I too learned my lesson about leaving it over night. Great job.
Thanks for your time, effort, and encouragement. I set calendar dates to remind me to clean forgettable, unthinkable, or hard to clean things around my home to avoid those situations tho they still happen 😊
Buy the oven pride kit or put your racks in a trash bag after spraying with oven cleaner. Next day or 6 hours later just rinse. No messy tub, no scrubbing. Youre welcome!
I loved watching your vid, so entertaining but sis you really did it the hard way! Lol! If you don't mind...a couple of tips.... 1. After using the baking soda paste, spray with vinegar instead of water, and spray inside whole oven so by the time you finish the door the baking soda has been working on the rest. 2. Warm up the oven, easier to clean when warm. 3. Leave a bowl of boiling water inside the oven for about 20 mins before cleaning, (preferably when warming oven) to create steam. This all helps with all of that elbow grease 💪🏾 👍🏾 hope this helps for next time. Good luck and Greetings from 🇬🇧 🧡👋🏾 p.s I have more tips if you want. I cooked in a kitchens some time ago.
"the rest of the house is a mess, but this oven is going to be clean". Seriously, the story of my life. I get so fixated on something, and my husband just really gets confused how I could get one thing so spotless while everything else is a disaster 😂😂😂 I'm lucky and got a man not afraid to help out, but I like when he stops me from going a little too crazy on whatever I'm fixating on, too.
I can't tell you how much I relate to this! Not the husband helping out part, cuz let's be real, most guys won't help! 😭 At least mine won't! Sometimes he actually has to physically gently move me away from the situation I put myself in!
Mine is the same way. I am thinking about using some Sos pads just to try them out. I am going to see what you made first hope it works good luck 👍🙋♀️💜

Loved that you demonstrated the fizz sound to your children, I could hear their reactions, so sweet, what a lovely family, keep up the great work. Marian from across the water, England. 👍
I cannot tell you how excited I am for this, Jia's cleaning videos are so relatable.
😘😘😘
I found a recipe on Pinterest that uses dawn, peroxide and baking soda and let it sit for an hour before scrubbing. So far it’s worked well on my stove and oven 😀 Thanks for sharing!
“Trust me babe, I’ve been doing all my research on tic toc” 👍🏽🤣 living through you!!! 😆
Honestly if I were to try cleaning that oven I would have steamed the oven for an hour or so. It needs liquid to activate it.
I use PBW on all of my stainless steel in the house, including the oven racks. Soak in a few tablespoons of it and leave for 6 hours. Repeat until it all flakes off as necessary, especially if you don't want to scrub. It's also eco friendly and environmentally safe too for septic systems.
You are my favorite ever. I know we are soul mates because I think the calendar in your kitchen says “September “. You are my kind of people 💜💜💜
When you start to sing your shining, shining, shining song I know we’re getting someplace 🙌🏼👏🏼
Watching you made me feel I'm not alone! Your experience is real life and seeing that gives me confidence to try and laugh at the same time. 🥰
This video really should be at million.
I never laughed so hard when the husband came in and she asked him to remove the oven door!! 😂 You are too darn adorable!!!
Put it BACK!!!! Put it BACK!!! OMG...I can't stop laughing!!! Girl you gonna give that man a heart attack!! The things we be trying and learning from the internet!!! Thanks for sharing!
😂😂😂😂😂
Lol I laughed so hard when you called your husband over. I know we try not to use harsh chemicals but this oven needed some Easy off Heavy Duty.
Yes I agree and they have the one that has no fumes
That would have worked in an hour and would have cleaned it well....
Also, I love a clean oven, but someone tell me I’m not the only one who is too impatient to scrub the racks like that. 🤣🥴
Your moods together are priceless.
"Good luck!" That is exactly how my husband would have reacted! 😂 This had to be the most relatable cleaning video I've seen yet totally inspiring! ❤️
I thought the exact same thing!
You really told him Tik toks are only 30 seconds .....I can’t I’m crying with laughter!
Any sentence that starts with...”I was on tick tock” never ends well!!! Lol
😂😂😂😂
😂
“Where is the magic” 🤣 I’m crying, this is the best video 😂
I'm so glad I found this video and you're not the only one that finds it satisfying when you see how clean it get I mean it just satisfying and relaxing to me I've said this over and over before and you know it's just getting it done is what matters and then also I'm glad to have the motivation and some tips as well thank you
I use the Easy Off fume free. Heat up oven, turn off, spray on, shut door and leave overnight but not necessary. Works great. Yours looks great too. Thanks for sharing.
*I usually heat the oven a little with the same DIY cleaner for easier clean up without the struggle.. saves time for me*
I do as well. The heat helps soften any grease
I would definitely heat up the oven a little bit too sounds much easier....
Poor thing I could feel your pain when asking your husband for help.🙁Atleast he came back🤣😂
@@lisahart6668 Yes!! So much better !
@@skullbarbie8015 Yes!
I always spray my oven racks with oven cleaner and put them in the trash bag let sit then rinse off. EVERYTHING COMES OFF, NO SCRUBBING 🧽
Me too. Easy peasy
I'm trying this tonight. I hope it works.
Omg!!! I’m so trying this!!!! Thank you!!
When you said tick tok was on only 30 seconds, the look on Charles face was priceless
Amazing vid - so much fun. This will be the focus of your holidays ...look at the oven!
I adore your humility and hard work. Just found your channel and am loving it!
Your husband’s reaction to removing the door was priceless. Hilarious!!😂
"Here's the thing, I was on tiktok..." is the new "See what had happened was..." 😄
BEAUTIFUL SHINE! CONGRATULATIONS!
@@pbug867 I accidentally left my racks in during self cleaning and it messed them up. They now look discolored.
WOULD U PLEEEASE TELL YOUR HUSBAND HE HAD ME DYING LMAO WHEN HE WALKED OUT THE KITCHEN; IM CRACKING UP TYPING THIS TOOOO FUNNY GURLLLLLL!!!!
Next time use scalding hot water!!! The hot water is what actually activates the Dawn dishwashing liquid sweety. Good luck next time.
Cleaned my oven for first time last night. Tried 2 methods and was not happy but it’s semi clean now at least. Will try your method. Thank you.
You did a great job. Oven cleaning is not for everyone 🙂. I had a few laughs tonight. Thanks for sharing.
Leave your trays in your bath tub with drier sheets for a few hours. I added 7 dryer sheets with hot water and they come up shining
I am so afraid of the fumes from oven cleaner I won’t use it. My solution is diluted awesome from dollar tree. It actually had my oven looking brand new. Although my oven wasn’t too bad, I needed to get it in great condition since I was moving
I'll just use Easy Off, save me the time of mixing just turn oven on and wipe down without all that scrubbing.
Easy off is the bomb. The night before , spray, then by morning the fumes are gone and wipe it off ~ the dang racks too!
Yes, Easy Off brand is the truth. Spray leave overnight and wipe in the morning.
That blue can is everything!
any suggestions on if easy off will work if i don’t have self cleaning oven?
Kelly, yes Easy Off will still work I use it all the time to clean my oven. Just warm the oven up and spray, it has directions on the can…
Oh my goodness I have to do this!!😱 SO satisfying....thx for sharing!🤗💓
When my kid's was little. I've always just put "Baking Soda" all over inside of the oven and spray it with water where it's wet but not running everywhere. Before I go to bed I'd spray it down some more and if i get up in the middle of the night. The next morning I'd just take a damp towel and wipe it off. Then anyplace that it needs redone i just do it that day..
It's amazing how we did that. It was use military mom's helping each other and trying out new stuff that we already had at home...
I thoroughly enjoyed this video….laughed out loud, girl at your husband and your reaction to his reaction! 🤚👍❤️
“Trust me babe. I have done all my research on tic tok” 😆😆 that was great.
I wasn’t even looking for this type of motivation today but I am HERE FOR IT all the way I couldn’t take my eyes off 🙌🏻
Never knew cleaning an oven could be so hilarious. Great content.
I might save this task for early Summer and buy a kiddie pool so I don’t have to clean the tub, haha!
Good luck and Greetings from 🇬🇧 🧡👋🏾
p.s I have more tips if you want.
Well why don't he work on the others then? 💁🏾♀️🤔🤣🤣🤣😤🤭
He said “put it back!” 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I’m crying. Husbands are so simple but the funniest things are like “oh gosh I do not want to consult him on this issue”
I DIDN'T KNOW BAR KEEPERS FRIEND MADE A SOFT SCRUB! I've been using the powder for decades. Nothing beats it.
They make a glass stove top cleaner too.
This is definitely healthier than using oven cleaner.
What's wrong with using oven cleaner
Chemical fumes...tough on nose & lungs.. maybe really rough on persons with Asthma.
@@robynjones6423 tell my lungs that
I so enjoyed this vid. Your personality is awesome. Loved the interaction with hubby😬.
You did an amazing job - most of our ovens look like this👍🏽.
Mine is the same way. I am thinking about using some Sos pads just to try them out. I am going to see what you made first hope it works good luck 👍🙋♀️💜
