Yep my father has been a lure maker for nearly fifty years and I have been lure fishing for over twenty years. Your advice is spot on! One little tip for barra and jacks can be a simple stall technique. Watched my old man get numerous fish doing it. Tricky part is timing, speed and knowing the buoyancy of the lure.
My first time lure fishing, bought a $80 popper, I did try your popper tips, after 16 cast I got hit to kingfish 78 cm, Absolutely great time and great fight. Thank you for your tips. Mate.
Thank you for dropping knowledge Briggsy! There was so much information that I'm going to watch over and over again. It's awesome how you guys give credit to each other because you are all amazing fishermen! This has to be the most informative I've watched yet. Thank you again!
Thank you so much legend , me and my son met you at the fishing show on the weekend and you gave my son the fcl popper in this vid . U made his day . Thanks again and keep up the great work :)
Always good to see what someone from a different part of the world does with their lures and techniques. I'll adapt some in my part of the world. Thanks
you guys cavy and yourself are the reason why I'm tired in the mornings! Watching all your videos every night before I go to sleep! Thankyou soo much for this video! It gave me the courage to go get some of these lures and hit the jetties here on St Croix usvi! THIS MORNING WAS EPIC after watching this video. I caught four Jack's and my first barracuda three foot long. I will watch all your videos as long as you make them! Good job explaining your lures and knots! Hopefully one day I'll make my way to Australia and fish the big gts! Or you guys can come visit my boutique resort on st croix. (We are building it right now) should be done like year and a half or so.
Your tutorials are always easy to grasp, even I reckon for someone just starting out. Fishing is such a democratic sport, anyone can enjoy it even with the simplest types of equipment and fish can be found almost anywhere ( the Earth is mostly covered in water) but even though a small child can catch a lot of fish, I don't know that anyone ever completely figures out every aspect of this sport and that's what keeps it interesting.
This was very informative and helpful for someone like me who doesnt fish often and gets bored easy. Maybe trying out some of these will make it more fun and give a better chance of catching something. Love your videos! ❤
Awesome tutorial vid for topwater, thanks! There's such a lack of content for this technique out there. Up to now I've had to try and glean stuff from your other videos and Morningtide. I wish I could give two thumbs up. How could anyone give this video a thumbs down!
When I have a fish / fish's following my popper but not hitting it I stop the retreive about 3 m out from the rocks & it gets smashed a lot of the time it's got me lots of BIG BIG Kingies off the rocks in NZ. Chur for the tips bro.
Thanks for the vid Briggsy, I think it explains enough for the newbies starting up and assures the seasoned fishos that even when they're not catching their doing the right thing! Good on ya.
That was amazing man! Thank you, this and your FG knot video are bound to get me a big fish soon. Been putin in the casts, now just honing my skills and lots of hopes and prayers 😅 🐟
Yeah Briggzy! Very informative video mate. So cool, No secrets at all! Much respect brah. Makes me feel like going fishing right now but, its night time and just like the end of your video, its RAINING! I actually thought it was music! Keep the videos coming, no matter the content, always FROTHIN! Yew! Aloha!
Awesome vid. Going to the Phillipines in 2 days for 5 weeks with a mate, taking some gear out but as a UK fisherman not too familiar with this style of fishing so the info you gave is invaluable! Would love a GT but not too big mind as I doubt the gear could handle a giant! Really loving this channel man keep it up :)
Thanks for the great informative video! I love to see the different techniques used by different anglers around the world to expand my own fishing game. 🤙🏼 Keep hooking up 🎣⚓️
Great informative video Briggsy, I've been using metals lately and been snipped while the lure is still sinking to the bottom, but I still repeat that process as you described, cheers.
Great stuff Briggsy, its the little things that you say you can do that can make the difference of a hook up or donuts. Thanks for a really good explanation of why and when you do changes, when to retrieve fast or slow, the countdown method works great. As you say learn how your lure sinks, dives, wobbles and skips. Really good info Briggsy. Cheers Muzza
Love watching a master at his passion. Come and do a Striper Blitz, and punk a few Cows. Maine and Nova Scotia would love to come and hanner some Bluefin.
Thanks for sharing. In USA - Northeast don’t really see anyone sweeping mostly keep the tip up and vary retrieve. Will definitely try the sweep even though I may get some looks :)
good tips mate but im a pike fishing man UK and ill try some of your tactics on the lures i use for Pike fishing mate. thanks again and love to watch you guys fishing for GT only if i had the money to come and join you guys one week or so man.. pease out....much respect
I would say it’s dang good since I caught a pike first time using it! My cousin had one that cost the same price I paid, but for one. And didn’t catch anything. I say it’s a winner!
Hi Briggsy, Great video regarding poppers when you fish with the rod tip constantly moving causing walk the dog , this trick is used by striped bass fishermen to catch striped bass on pencil poppers however these pencil poppers are very different they are cone shaped with a small cup .
Good stuff briggsy i was burning a popper back over open water and had a monster pike kill it, straightened out the hooks :( A lot of times id cast, pop, then chill for 10 to 20 secs and have one hit it. (Across Usa for reference) Try out a suspending jerkbait. Ive seen you guys use xraps n such, but try to jerk on slack line. Just a quick flick of the wrist, not a long drag. From reeling with a twitch, up to a 20 second pause for super finnicky/cold fish. Works wonders over here.
Great advice for every level of angler. Covered all the bases and gave me some great new tips. Am i wrong or is the eye on your popper on the wrong end lol. Wont it look like it's swimming backwards
Can't remember the exact story on that but the lure builder i think is trying to imitate a certain bait fish that when they're injured they sit head down in the water? Pretty sure that was the story haha
I was hoping you would show how you pick the hooks for the lures n what sort of ties/ knots for different apps 🙏 very informative video Thank you 👍🏻👍🏻🎣🎣🎣
Very informative would love to get up north and give this sort of fishing trying to get your arms stretched in victoria is either sharks from the surf or tuna charters lol
Hey Briggsy. What rod type and length should I get for this kind of fishing? Been reading about saragosa. New to this so better not buy a stella or salita. What size? 6000?
You da Man. It all depends on the feed where I am. Fast slow all depends on the forage, current, and depth. I always start with the biggest popper I have. If that 70 kilo fish is around that's what I'm looking for so big first. Learn to use a carpenter floating stick and you can work anything else no matter how stiff the rod.
Cheers for making that mate, good to know some of the stuff I'm doing is right and picked up a few tips to try out. Like you said, it's a constant learning process
Thanks for tutorial lesson bro, salam from indonesia ❤️, I like shore jigging and shore casting too, I will try poper and stick bait after watching this, I bring camera too hope my chanel wiil biger than now if get big GT with poper, thanks alot, mantap 👍👍👍
Does float/sinking stickbait work well at night? Would you prefer single hook more over tremble on stickbait? Can you also tell what is the biggest drag pressure you ever put on the fish?
Poppers 0:21
Floating Stickbaits 6:23
Sinking Stickbaits 10:17
Divers 16:10
Metals 20:35
Stoked everyone's frothin on the film!
Love your work buddy
thnx alot!
Any links to the lures?
Thanks
Thanks buddy for your tips, are really helpful, hope one day you can come to bali to visit us and fishing!!!
Cheers
