Great new piece of equipment. Just be sure to put something under the hydraulic line that is rubbing on the radiator. The vibration will surely wear a hole in the hose otherwise. I can't wait to see it put to work.
After the excavator I will check all possibilities for rubbing for sure. Waiting for the rain to stop and we will get it up to the plot and start is working 👍🏻
I knew it was some sort of digging machine in that box.
Wow, you guys deserve that.
Happy digging. X
Thanks Martin - we didn't know what to expect - happily surprised for sure 👍🏻
What a great wee skid steer, it will interesting to see how it coups with the work required on your plot.
They did offer a wheel one first but I thought this would be more stable on the sloping ground. I hope it is. 😀
What a fantastic little machine. I’ve always called em dingos. I got the ditch witch version and they are surprisingly powerful. You might want to look into down sizing the forks for 36in ones that makes a huge difference. And you can always flip the forks for a little extra height if you’re brave enough to work off them!
Cheers Harry - first thing I said to Julie was I might cut down the forks to reduce the weight - the back plate weighs a tonne.
Great new machine, can’t wait to see it in action. Wondering if the extra hydraulic lines at the front could be used with a screw hole excavator. That would be great for when you put the fence posts in. Lovely car as well.
Hydraulic pipe interface, can be equipped with hydraulic auxiliary tools (stump grinder, rotary drill, furrow plow)
There a lot of attachments you can get - I will see if I can adapt my auger to fit the front. I am interested in the front brush cutter, that may work great on the banks.
@@HomesteadingUncontained I ordered the skid steer after seeing it on your videos and also added the front brush cutter. Happy to share how I go once it's here in 2 months. Would be great to see more videos on how you maintain and service both machines. Thanks for all your inspo!
@@RandomName-ni2yi hope you like it. The brush cutter would be great.
Great to see the Renault on the road. As a retired equipment operator and car nut my entire life this was a fantastic video. Looking forward to future videos on the car and skid steer. Thanks!
Thank you - still ironing out some niggles on the car but at lest I am road testing now and not just on the ramp.
Best of luck with new Machine, look forward to seeing it in action. I love all your content Cars,Tractors Electrical and Building.
Cheers
Gerard
Thanks Gerard - building will be coming soon but the miserable weather makes it hard to get motivated.
Lin and I love❤️ that skid steer. Amazing 👏👏👏
Thank you so much - we were so surprised when it came, we knew there was something but not this machine.
Love your channel
From USA (Sacramento, California) 🇺🇸
Thank you ☺️
Love your content, a note on skid steers from one with 20 years on a small Bobcat. Always keep the bucket low, especially when loaded, as being very short they will tip front easily and launch the driver. A cute and interesting machine, looking forward to your review. Also looking forward to updates on the Rally project. I had a Dauphine project many years ago and it had the toughest little engine I have ever used. Good luck, always look forward to your next episode.
Most of my car is Dauphine, just out of a safety perspective (disc brakes) plus the additional power in the motor . Yes, I will be very careful on the mini skid for sure 👍🏻
This should be a great addition
Thanks John - we will get to work with it this week if it ever stops raining 🌧️
Excellent progress! Plans are made to go awry. But you can't do much without them!
We are back on track this week - Lidl have sold out of plants 🪴
That skid steer is a beast. Small footprint but looks to be very muscular. I hope it lives up to your expectations.
In this case I have no expectations as it was a total surprise but it will be great to test it out and get it working for us. Really pleased they sent it.
We haven't had any snow yet up in morbihan but i'm crossing my fingers we get a good dousing, I really miss snow in the winter. Nice little skid steer by the way !
I do not mind traveling up the road to snow, but do not really want it at the house - we used to get so much when we first moved here 20 years ago.
good video! and that little car sounds like a badass machine when you stand on it!
It is so loud inside even with sound proofing. The noise cancelling headphones will be needed.
How exciting! That thing is a little monster. What a wonderful gift. Ian, you've gotta start lifting with your legs more. Squat down a little and look up at the sky as you lift. It keeps your back straighter. Also, "Homesteading Uncontained" alludes to all the crates you've had to open as much as it does the container home you're building. Very serendipitous. Keep up the good work.
I am terrible when it comes to lefty and Julie is even worse. I do try though when I am thinking about it.
Nice machine I'm looking forward to seeing how it works out for you
Cheers Billy - we will get it to work this week. 👍🏻
Great video as usual! Looking forward to tagging along on that rally!!
Cheer Chris - just hope we make it there.....😬
very intersting "gift" !!!
They got so much business from my excavator video series I think they want a similar experience with this machine. I am happy if it does help as this is great for us.
Interesting motor choice in the stand-on loader: intended for the North American market maybe. That said, the B&S Vanguard has historically been an excellent unit
My remote lawn mower has a Kohler motor in it so they maybe moving towards western engines to keep the confidence up. Although I have had no issues with the little Koop either.
Good video. Can't wait to see the skid steer in action!
Thank you - it will be great to start using it
Nice bit of kit! 😃👍
Cheers Simon - I am pleasantly surprised as we didn't know what was coming.
Wow, we just found you guys recently, as the other half wanted a digger 🙄Needless to say said digger has now been ordered from Alibaba thanks to you, Ian and Julie!
Love your channel, we are also building and homesteading in West Cork and channrling it through youtube.
Very much looking forward to your house build, and gardening (currently hoping to get a tunnel up ourselves).
Love your energy and light heartedness on the camera ❤
Hi guys, sorry for the late reply. Been working on the car non stop and now sulking. Have subscribed to your channel and following your work. Nice to follow other European channels for sure. We will be back to normal service now.
Great little stand-on machine. I envy you 👍
Cheers Torsten - I feel lucky to have it for sure 👍🏻
Great seeing you working on the Renault Thank You for That, I’m wondering with that digger loader if you put some substantial weight under the platform you stand on possibly fabricate a bracket to hold the weights, I think it would be necessary when your unloading something lets say from the side of a large truck/rig and you have your forks at head height or above or put something up high on your properties, when do you Guys and Gals plan on leaving for Milan?
All The Best
Fabrizio
To begin with I thought the orange back plate was a counter weight, which made my think about what you have suggested.
That sounds nice on the mountain road
The little car - just ironing out some niggles before going further for testing.
Very nice looking machine. It looks like it fun to have. Clean up the crust then make a decision on the state of the concrete. It is probably going to be OK 👍. You should have put some plastic sheets on it.
I know, I am kicking myself for not covering it up, specially as I did all of that on the garage slab..... 👍🏻
More play toys for Julie. Ian on the rail where the forks attach to the top you want to put grease so they slid better, take it from me as a forklift operator i have to deal with them every day and some grease helps, you could put a little on the bottom rail as well. Larry
As I was dragging it across, I thought, why don''t I just grease it. Could not believe the weight of them - cheers Larry 👍🏻
Awesome Addition, I added one to my JF12 Mini Ex. in November. Be sure to check all the Hose Fittings for tightness, 4 of mine were loose. I am thinking on a 3 point hitch Box Blade, Fabbed in reverse as a Snow Pusher/Land Leveler. Then a Finishing Mower Deck. I will be watching to see if you head this way also. Keep up the Great How To's!
That's exactly what I did. Bought a 3pt 48" blade and a quick tatch plate. Cut the hitch off and welded the plate onto the drawbar of the blade. Need the rain to stop or snow to arrive to test it out. I also bought a clamshell grapple, a 4way bucket, added digger teeth to the smooth bucket, a land plane, and a receiver hitch . I have a one tooth ripper for the receiver hitch and I want to add a landscape rake. My digger came with the Chinese Briggs. Not sure how good that is (doesn't have the Donaldson air filter).
After the excavator I will do - but so far it looks great.

That's life in the village, everyone can always help with something.
Be it with mechanical power, as shown here, or with knowledge about solving stubborn problems that modern solutions fail to solve
Trouble is our local farmers are dying out - 5 farms when we moved here, 20 years ago....now only 2 left.
@HomesteadingUncontained yeah, same situation over here in Germany, where I live.
Back in my childhood days there was still 4 "Bauernhöfe" of sustainable size at that time...
Sadly the animals have vanished, aside from the sport horses.
And another thing I really started to miss in recent years is the hour strike from the church, yeah back in the 90s we still had that in the Kassel region
From the video alone, Its pretty clear the skid steer is more solid than the mini digger.
So far I would say your right but we have not been on the slope yet - 2 cylinder motor and bigger hydraulic pump really makes a difference in control 👍🏻
No need to check the engine oil or the hydraulic tank. Just drop in about 10 liters of petrol and take off. I'm sure it was shipped with those topped off. :)
cheers from Louisiana USA
I do check it all, maybe not film it all.
my favourite duo is baaaaaaaack
Cheers 😀
So glad you realised that it took petrol not diesel. I believe all Brigs & Station engines are petrol.
I thought so, but double checked in the manual. The "G" here is always Gasoil which is Diesel. 😬
Julie its called a ‘skein of geese’ whilst flying or a gaggle on the ground.
Thank you - it was strange to see it at this time of year, they were going around in circles 😀 Jx
Welcome to Norman then... Does Norman's bucket have a cutting edge installed? there's holes but...
It didn't but now I will take a look. 😬
I saw in another video where .. The little wheels at the back of the belt may not have enough grees in them and just get mangled.
The spacer helped and the tracks are staying on now.
I am waiting your rally footage. This will do in the meantime.🎉👍🤙👊
thanks Stefan -2 more weeks before we depart from Milan 👍🏻
Cool new toy. There is a huge need for those small affordable machines. Lots of people out there that have a need for one but can't afford a pricey commercial duty version and renting when you need doesn't work as renting rarely makes sense as you often end up spending as much as buying over a short time.
Car is looking great. There is allot to be said about those small cars VS our bug v8s. Those small cars are so much easier to take apart and work on. I was looking at that rear axle and thinking how tiny it is compared to the one out of a ford Explorer I just narrowed for the Mustang.
I think we have you beat on the cold though. It's noon and still 13*f here in Texas. The minisplit is keeping the shop at 63* which isn't bad considering it's less than half the size I need for the building. High of 20* but I don't think it'll make any higher than around 15* But it'll be back to normal in 3 days. Our cold only comes for a couple days here and there in the winter but summer is 9 months long with no relief...
This machine will be great for me and it seems very well built - time will tell but the same for any machine. I do like the big V8 cars but just wince at the fuel consumption, specially with prices here in Europe - but I watch all the US motoring shows. Keep warm 👍🏻
@@HomesteadingUncontained Definitely a great size machine. Something that I would like especially with the hydraulic function for running trenchers and other attachments. Wonder if they will have a diesel version of it.
Yeah fuel is an issue here too especially here in TX where many have a commute of 100 miles a day. I just paid $2.37/gal. Yes cheap in comparison but when figured along with the mileage driven...
I rented a Dacia Sandero on Naxos (Greece) back in May and I think I was paying 2.25euro/liter there. Didn't use very much though. Was a surprisingly fun car to drive around the mountain roads. Yes I rented an automatic. I am extremely uncoordinated and have never been good at driving a stick. And yes I am a car guy too...
Hello, I recently followed your TH-cam channel and I like it very much, Coming back to the topic of the excavator you purchased on Alibaba, I would like to know how you did it and whether I can count on your help?
How can I help you?
Dear friend, I would like you to give me instructions on how you purchased this mini excavator step by step and what additional costs you had to deal with after the purchase, I mean customs duties, freight etc. etc. and how your excavator is performing after the time since you bought it, did you have any more
Thank you for your answer, I enjoy watching your program on TH-cam

Hello ian & juley wow 👍
Hi Liam - Thanks 👍🏻
As we suspected .... Tools/Machinery .... Good times !
haha, you guessed right 😀
What a great gift. Put it to work guys!
Not a bad little machine....Hmmmmm....I,m sure I could use it, but I have other machines to do the same jobs. (Next summer I,m looking for a new tractor/loader....and I will go for a loader that can have quick release forks like that).
Really impressed with the build - I wanted forks for the Tractor but this may work a lot better.
I can see even from the vid how well built it is...or rather the materials/steel looks thick and sturdy. Just remember fork lifts are built for flat ground, even a couple of degrees of camber and things can go 'sideways' pretty fast...have fun🤣.@@HomesteadingUncontained
I don't think briggs ever had diesel engines... also you can figure it out which fuel it is if you check for sparkplugs or glowplugs. Also always lower the bucket when unloading equipment. Prevents the possibility of flipping it
I would have figured it out but we were filming real time, so seeing the G for us means Diesel. I did then double check on the B&S website.
The concrete should be ok you just need to seal it when the weather drys up
What you did wrong was using very old bags , it's just ok to use old bags on this type job but you should of finished the last couple of mixes with new bags
Keep your concrete or cement bags inside or undercover for no longer that 4 months ,
Love the new not so small toy
Cheers for the positive comment - yes, I should have just used those bags for fence post ballast. I will get some concrete sealant and as you say, wait for some nice weather
The Link to the nuoman skidsteer don't work for me it's just for uk ???
Try this one - www.bossgoo.com/product-detail/free-shipping-cheap-mini-skid-steer-63275225.html it seems to work from France.
👌 Hi that`s a nice bit of kit for a freebee 😘
It was a surprise - we knew they were sending something to say thank you but wow 😯
Tyler Mac see I’m going too find it
🤣
What’s the width of the new machine?
Just measured it for you - the bucket is the widest at 110mm and the width of tracks is 103mm. A little wider than the excavator.
Skid steer, I was right! (As many others) ...
Please do a speed run side by side with the excavator, the biggest distance you can get 50-100m. The skid should be many many times faster.
no need - you can feel the speed difference on this machine. The excavator is so slow......😬
Hi, is this loader from alibaba? Thank you 🙂
It was supplied by Nuoman Engineer - www.bossgoo.com/product-detail/free-shipping-cheap-mini-skid-steer-63275225.html
@@HomesteadingUncontained Thank you for reply. Bossgoo is beter like Alibaba? Maybe has company storage in EU?
Congrats on the new skid loader. The Chinese are really beginning to make great machines. Using Briggs and Stratton is a positive as parts available everywhere and will be around for years to come. Two things' Briggs and Stratton new engines use braking oil. Use the machine for 2-3 hours then change the oil for recommended. Secondly please manufacture something to support the bucket when raised if you intend to work under it. I have seen failures firsthand not pleasant. We made a half pipe adapted to cover chrome of rams. Ensure you do not scratch or mark them. Again, good luck in the rally.
Thanks Louis - I will change the oil after a few hours - good tip. Is it some sort of collar you put on the piston ram. That is a good idea.
Yes, we had our fitter's fashion a metal pipe cut in half vertically to use as a collar along the piston rams. We did both sides. We used different things to protect the exposed rams carpet, rubber, foam and ended up just using old clothing and sheets cut up to suit. We firstly placed metal angle line from somewhere on the front of the machine to the bucket or forks etc. We decided this was too sketchy as it could be knocked off the machine.
How much can the pallet fork lift without the machine tipping forward? Seems the only counterweight is the person standing there.
You are right - I have cut down the backing steel and also the length of the forks. I plan to get some tractor weights to bolt to the bottom of the stand plate. These forks are standard and much too heavy for this machine.
Can't play audio in my environment, and didn't see price/cost, delivered, in transcript or description. How much was it?
We have no idea at the moment - this was a gift for our work on the Excavator Video Series. I will update more once I get the details from Nuoman.
How much did you pay. Everything included
Nothing at all - it was a gift for all the work we did with their Mini Excavator - but contact helen@nuomanjx.com and she will give you a good price, mention my name.
Julie's jacket...is it ex French military?? Looks good. Being Ex Army myself I notice things like that? I,m a bit of a collector or Army combat jackets.....but Julies looks like it might be ex French? airforce? Here in Easter Poland.......+1 C and about 6 inches of Snow.
It was €3 off the market so not sure it is authentic.
You may be surprised, by some of the ex mil things you can pick up dirt cheap (good quality too) - if it's fake it will be crap quality...I bought a Brand New German Civil Defence parka in field Grey for 100 Zloti 5 years ago (23 Euros) and it is really good even in -10C?? I did pay a lot for a Swedish M90 Combat Jacket but now it is worth 3 times what I paid. I,ve had many offers for it.@@HomesteadingUncontained
did anyone tried buying one of these Nuoman skid steer ?
I'm trying to contact the company with no luck.
Email Helen directly helen@nuomanjx.com and mention my name.
@@HomesteadingUncontained I got in contact with Ella Yang.
and I did mentions you guys.
Thank you
Concrete is fine. Do nothing and relax. Use the loader and save your back. You seem very hesitant to save yourself, instead you save the excavator, very confusing to me?
Thanks for the reassurance on the concrete - I do need to start using the machines a little more.
You go to either website to buy and the pictures that are shown are of many excavators and wat not. Not pleased with how the website looks like a fake sight or for u to even know wat ur buying or wat motors are in them worst sight i ever looked at
It is easier just to contact them directly and ask for information and prices helen@nuomanjx.com
The Renault
Your oil resides in your sump & I have totally no idea of how much or how far you or your engine builder have gone about baffling it, be honest Ian you will be giving her a right canning.
The oil pump picks up the oil & pumps it to the mains & big ends, then up to cam bearings followers & the bottom of the pushrods then up to the rocker shaft bearings, rockers & the top of the pushrods some parts are directly feed while others are just splash feed.
Then what ??????????????????????
Well all that oil at the top of your engine slowly drifts across the top of the head PICKING UP RESIDUAL HEAT FROM THE WATER GALLERIES IN THE HEAD & draining to the sump.
Ian is not just a pretty face as he knows all the above, The Renault has a short wheelbase under heavy braking the back end will be dancing around like a lap dancer at a Gogo bar in Thailand .It has & small engine displacement which means he must keep the reeves between the maximum torg & HP that his camshaft dictates.
Ian to finish you need to put your hand in your back pocket.
Summit racing has Perma 55589 oil cooler kit for $113.98, Derale 15405 oil cooler kit for $139.99 add to them either a CVR oac91 oil accumulator (3quart) $216 or Moroso 23903 (1.5Q) $296.99 OR Canton Racing 24-046 (1Q) $259.00 Ian if you just go for a accumulator then you will need a adapter Moroso 23690 $113.99 (or buy a Perma kit )
Then you need a man with a van who goes to industrial sites & makes to measure hoses.
Kiwi Rod
PS modern USA engines are now metric
I did put a baffle sump on it. I am working through the issues now.
