Victims of a juvenile carjacker call for Mayor Cantrell to apologize

- A week after Mayor LaToya Cantrell sparked a firestorm of criticism over her court appearance in support of the family of a juvenile carjacker, the victims of the crime are speaking out, calling for the Mayor to apologize.
When we first spoke to Stephanie Uddo she asked us to protect her identity.
“I just wanted to scream at the TV and be like 'what about us?'" she said. "She made us feel like victims all over again.”
A week and a firestorm of controversy later, the mayor’s response encouraged Uddo to show people who she is, saying, “I felt fearful that someone who can’t take accountability for their actions is the one that’s leading our city.”

He’s committed Three carjackings? Uh uh, how many victims does this youth get to have? If his family asked you to show him some support, that was the wrong time and place for it. She did not care about the victim’s feelings. Why couldn’t she just admit she could have been more thoughtful of them?

Whew....the Mayor's actions are very disturbing, but tell us where the USA is headed when it comes to supporting crime as we see it continually grow throughout our nation. New Orleans continues to decline and crime grows. Businesses will continue to leave when their safety is more important than their bottom line. Such a beautiful historic and culturally gifted city to be destroyed from within.

You obviously don't have an understanding of what is going on here. She showed up in court to support a CONVICTED carjacker and she completely ignored the victims in this case. Now she doesn't show up in court for every convicted criminal in the city but she did it in this case.

@@robertepps2834 separate issue, just because a person has access to a gun doesn't make it ok for that person to use the gun to rob someone, if it were ok there would be robberies every day all day by tons of people, just because a person can shoot a gun doesn't make it ok to shoot people, hold up people etc...there are a lot of people working toward gun reform, separate issue altogether, there are a lot of people that own a gun that are responsible gun owners while there are criminals using guns for the wrong reasons, like this young guy is a repeat offender, how many chances should he get just because he has access to a gun that he is so ready and willing to use to commit crimes? having access or owning a gun doesn't give a person the right to use that gun to commit crimes hurting other people

We here in New Orleans don’t have the same type of support for this generation of children/kids like I had growing up!! I’ve NEVRE seen a mayor support a child that committed a crime before and never seen those that have committed a crime finish the program that they’re placed in for troubled youths. Now I do believe that she should’ve reached out once the lady tried to make contact with her. But she really didn’t have to.
Second chance? he had a second chance after the first time he committed a violent carjacking yet went on do it another two times. That punk kid is a natural born predator. Nothing more.
