The fabric and its curves and flow have been inspired by the paintings of Ravi Verma and in his paintings the flow and fold of the saree of Mother India flows in the shape of India. It has cultural significance and I personally thought it was the prettiest looks of the night.

Cardi's Gurav Gupta dress blew me away.. I kept looking at it, and while it does absolutely look like water... To me it almost looks more like a giant brush stroke from a paintbrush, and because it's so 3D it jumps out at me, like paint is literally coming out of the dress into the air, and even through my screen almost. I was absolutely mesmerized by that as you were talking, and I think that's something so unique I've never experienced that it's a really special dress for that alone. It also is beautiful on other levels, and looks amazing on her, despite the uneven and exaggerated hip shape. 💙
The original sketch for Taylor had a hood which could've been a fun element (although I think we're on the verge of an oversaturation of red carpet hoods). She also wore a hood in the Bejeweled music video so it would also be a midnights reference.

I don’t think anyone ever brought anything that everyone was talking about. I was a teenager in the early late 90’s I was 19 in 95. I don’t remember anything being a BIG deal back then. I just remember being extremely disappointed that Sheryl Crow beat out Counting Crows as best new artist. But I don’t remember it being an awards show women brought awesome fashion. AND I have been an avid follower of fashion since then.
Okay old person here - the 90’s were a rebellion against the BIG EIGHTIES which is why the minimal grunge heroin chic look took over but just do a Winona/Johnny retrospective where they look like a Tim Burton set- before the 00’s there weren’t red carpet stylists and so stars chose their outfits and you can def tell but def. there was fashion- Bob Mackie/Cher in the 80’s, Audrey Hepburn/YSL and then music hip hop took over fashion in the 90’s Tommy and such. It would be fun if he were to do themes like looking at the impact of stylists or rappers on red carpet fashion. Cause red carpets are disappointing bc award shows are in death rattles
@@Exorcist364xs I apologize I had meant to let you know the Grammy’s 95 was an anomaly both in terms of fashion and the music although the Grammy’s were always less fashion forward than other awards I think bc so many artists wanted to be ‘respected musicians’ and not entertainmen per say. But 95 In the music history is epic as I am sure you might recall- but it was as you said supposed to be women getting the power and honors finally in music and so there was anti focus on appearance with pantsuits etc the only standouts were Mariah Carey (scarlet says a lot about how low the bar was that night) who lost all nom setting a record and TLC who won but made their historic “we broke bc of Puffy” announcement after. For fashion people like yourself there’s was a momentous moment in fashion history and hip hop music made that night that night. I am going to put that in the general thread for everyone. You may already know what I am talking of.
The problem I have with Harry’s jumpsuit is it feels underappreciated being presented this way. It’s like he just showed up and wanted to wear something beautiful but without intention outside of we know he’s likely to wear a jumpsuit.
I think a shirt would have enhanced that outfit so much. I was picturing a satin finish pussy bow neckline with massive sleeves gathered at the wrist, in a plain color like black to make the jumpsuit pop.
Kinda not sad about moving on from the Gucci Granny era...I think the Cardi B blue Gurav dress was stunning. It looked better on her curves than on the runway. Also I like they took what was essentially a top on the runway over a bodysuit, was made into a gown. I missed that Paco Rabanne died. One of my favorite designers. Taylor puts all her creativity and fun into her music which is great, but when it comes to red carpets all the fun and playfulness is gone. She obviously can dress how she wants, but I agree with you, she has so much opportunity to do more and she just doesn’t. She plays it safe. It feels like wasted potential which ironically enough reminds me of a lyric from one of her songs lol.
I believe that the Cardi B look is made from silk abaca. It is more commonly used in millinery and is made of silk and abaca fibres (banana plam). The silk gives the lustre while the abaca provides the structural element and can be steamed and shaped into these liquid forms.
You were able to put into words what I was thinking about Harry's look and couldn't quite express. Cardi B in that blue dress was out of this world, I think it's her best look of all time. What a stunner!

I’m bummed you didn’t like Adele’s look! I loved her outfit. I loved Cardi B too, except for that blob on her hip. Also, Harry’s tattoos ruined his look. The ink on his chest marred the visual of the neckline, and the others distracted from the look. A white ruffled shirt would have been better.
That is exactly what was problematic my opinion. Who didn't take his actual body into consideration? When you have ink it should become part of your look, not compete with it(or God forbid ruin both like that look did).

Cardi's dress reminded me of how a Sari is draped and the fact that the designer is Indian reinforces that! It looks like the drape going across the waist, up to the shoulder and then covering her head. And she was caught in the wind or something. Idk just very pretty and magical.

Kinda not sad about moving on from the Gucci Granny era...I think the Cardi B blue Gurav dress was stunning. It looked better on her curves than on the runway. Also I like they took what was essentially a top on the runway over a bodysuit, was made into a gown. I missed that Paco Rabanne died. One of my favorite designers. Jane Fonda's Paco Rabanne costumes for Barbarella were formative for my childhood .

Taylor puts all her creativity and fun into her music which is great, but when it comes to red carpets all the fun and playfulness is gone. She obviously can dress how she wants, but I agree with you, she has so much opportunity to do more and she just doesn’t. She plays it safe. It feels like wasted potential which ironically enough reminds me of a lyric from one of her songs lol.

I believe that the Cardi B look is made from silk abaca. It is more commonly used in millinery and is made of silk and abaca fibres (banana plam). The silk gives the lustre while the abaca provides the structural element and can be steamed and shaped into these liquid forms.
You were able to put into words what I was thinking about Harry's look and couldn't quite express. Cardi B in that blue dress was out of this world, I think it's her best look of all time. What a stunner!

As someone who's been burned by horsehair braid before, I feel for Shania. No matter how delicately you hand stitch that sucker in place, it WILL show through a lightweight fashion fabric. A fabric with sheen? She never stood a chance.

I’m bummed you didn’t like Adele’s look! I loved her outfit. I loved Cardi B too, except for that blob on her hip. Also, Harry’s tattoos ruined his look. The ink on his chest marred the visual of the neckline, and the others distracted from the look. A white ruffled shirt would have been better.
That is exactly what was problematic my opinion. Who didn't take his actual body into consideration? When you have ink it should become part of your look, not compete with it(or God forbid ruin both like that look did).
