Had an officer show up on my porch to give me a "warning" (threat) that I'd be fined if I didn't paint over the grafitti that had been painted on my back wall (and about a dozen otber properties) the night before. When I asked how come he was threatening me with a fine instead of trying to track down the taggers his response was "What do you expect us to do?". When I said "Your job" he just sneered and walked down the street to deliver his next threat.
I'm sorry, what right does he have to fine you for how your property is painted? Unless it is something obscene like a giant penis he should have to grounds to make such a threat anyway.
A formal complaint with the police departments Internal Affairs division (or equivalent) for the intentional dereliction of duty committed by Sgt. Dipshit, Officer A and his "Brother". A complete social media blast of the officers names and badge numbers...along with clips of the security video...showing their utter incompetence to do the one job they were called to do.
The "brother" reference came down to color I bet, which shows biased behavior. PO's are meant to stay neutral in everything, that officer showed favoritism. Should have also told the officers to remove themselves off the property until they had spoken to the supervisor, even if 911 was called they cant stay on the property once asked to remove themselves.
Wow. If this case ever makes / made it to a civil court then the lawyers and judge will make mincemeat of the police officers and the sergeant. That would be glorious to watch. That police department needs an overhaul, lack of critical thinking there. Scarey that idiots like that are supposed to protect and serve.
Audit the Audit: OA, OB and SGT get an F. Hotel personnel get an A+. Audit the Audit recommends pursuing legal action against OA, OB and SGT as well as pursuing civil action against Barry.
The Barry story is nasty. Why would you take an uncleaned room for all you know the previous person might have tracked in lice or bed bugs. Water damage as described can cost thousands of dollars to fix.
I understand your point but I guarantee you will never find a clean room I have in hotels I've seen kitchenettes clean with the same cloth used to clean the crapper
@Russ Walls that's nasty. When I was younger I was biohazard cleaner in the hospital for a few years. That training stayed. I can spot a 1 mm dot stain in a room from 15 feet. I can't help examine every hotel room I have to use. It's why I have a portable antiviral cleaning kit in my car at all times.
I wouldn't be surprised if Barry knew the policemen. They were entirely incompetent. You can almost guarantee the internal audit will show no issues, and result in a major lawsuit that costs taxpayers a lot of money, but a slap on the wrist for the police, as always. A major lack of accountability
As a black man, Officer B was an embarrassment. To be that chummy to one who caused that much damage, and have the nerve to take his side? What the hell? And even call OP and her GM racist? I pray he's reprimanded or fired for his prejudice ways, from that police force. Good story, yet the second and third parts pissed me off due to the treatment towards OP and staff.
The EXACT second officer b said 'brother' is the exact second they should have called the dispatch again and said they needed to send other officers, this is conflict of interest...doesn't matter if "I call everyone brother" that's instantly conflict of interest
I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop and turns out Barry's on the police force or something. How the hell is harassing the hotel staff for hours easier or preferable to just trespassing a guy and maybe throwing him in the drunk tank? Are these guys that allergic to paperwork?
My thoughts exactly. The cops seemed to flip a switch after talking with Barry, and were doing everything they could to give Barry everything he wanted without having to explain why. Barry obviously had some kind of card that the cops weren't willing to touch, possibly a family member in the police department, or a race card that might be a sensitive topic in that area and discouraging police from taking action against people of color. This whole encounter might have opened a huge can of worms exposing the corruption within the police department, and I hope someone was willing to investigate further.
When dealing with this type of attitude from police officer's just try to reason with them but don't antagonize them just file a complaint with their internal affairs department or whatever it is called in your jurisdiction. Don't embellish what happened , don't give your perceptions just give the facts. You also may want to retain a attorney before you do thow to advise you on how to handle the situation and never , never , NEVER make any threats of any kind. ......... NEVER !!!!!
not taking pictures and refusing to let them talk to the witness DOES sound suspicious. or at least, you want police to act with only verbal accusations?
They sound like a bunch of Karens. Also, the terms they use to describe Barry shows a bias against him. If Barry was white, the woman he was with would probably be refered to as his girlfriend, fiance, or something more respectful than "baby momma". Clearly undertones of racism. Along with the mention of his child playing in the lobby. That's what kids do. Completely normal, and not really worth mentioning. Everything about this guy upset them. As far as the damage. They already assumed he was at fault. But when they went to inspect the room, found no overflow of water. The room below had water coming out of the light fixture, and the desk below that. The only way that could be caused, would be a drain failure, withing the floor/ ceiling of the unit below. There is no way he could have caused that damage while not being in the room. They never mentioned how the room was repaired, but I would guarantee it was the drainage system under the tub. They blamed him for damage he did not, and could not cause. Of course that would upset him as a guest. Not really sure about all the officer involvement. I'd guess they were trying to be impartial, do their diligence to investigate, find evidence, (pictures), interview witnesses, (the woman from the room below his), and de-escalate the situation, (calling the man bro, and assuring him they would find out what happened). In a court of law, if they sued him for damages, the burden of proof to actually prove he caused damage to the room/ computer equipment would not be satisfied. He would win his defense, and possibly a counter claim for his treatment.
This is why I enjoy Law and Order so much. It’s how dealing with the police should be. Very unfortunate that it’s not true in today’s reality. I won’t delve deep into my issues but a neighbor caused property damage to my home and I had to go to the station to report it, because they refused to send someone out. Still an ongoing issue so I won’t say more, but annoying nonetheless.
@@DrownedInExile The return of the Original Series has been very fun to watch because it’s actually tackling a lot more real-world, current events issues. But I do understand that it still hasn’t bridged that gap to being realistic as of yet, and for entertainment’s sake, I don’t think it ever will. Lol
@@guitarbass22 There was an episode where the criminal-of-the-week was the proverbial Scary Black Man (tm). Unlike most of the suspects on the show, he absolutely refused to talk to the cops, or prosecutors. Which is exactly what you're supposed to do in the real world. Ask any lawyer, cops are not your friends. The SBM was framed by another criminal, but was ultimately cleared. But Jack McCoy refused to apologize, saying SBM "looked guilty on paper and acted guilty in person." Bad enough the show stigmatized the SBM for daring to exercise his rights, but McCoy refusing to apologize was way out of character for him. That was where L&O completely lost me.
I have a question. Although this shouldn’t be necessary where we’re the cameras? They might’ve caught the cascade or at least some audio of it or something. I mean this is a hotel, right?

Wow.....Im not saying "Berry" isnt a shitheel, he is. But this story reeks of millennial conflation and victim syndrome...... My money would be that they know who the tagger is and the threat of fines is a form of revenue for the precinct
What is the difference between a criminal and the police?
The police is above the law

Thanks for a serial story Rob. Have a good evening
100% guarantee that Barry knew the officers.

sounds like Barry might be a cop, make a FOIA request for his information and if he is, sue the department for covering up for him
