Getting 5 progress shouldn't be that difficult, You just have to plan your, trip to explore as much new tiles as possible and to reach Knossos on final day, 80th. There are technologies and exploration cards that can give you extra progress, and a lot of progress comes from adventure hubs, which You should still get some on Your way. I was in similar situation and I managed to get all the progress for 4b and was still 2 doom away from losing ... although I didn't have to swim through the river again, my "sepulcher" tile was in a much better spot. :).
So, it's not necessarily that finding 5 progress would be difficult but more that it would be a time crunch before we lost to Doom. Plus, there was the option of getting 12 which just wasn't in the cards. Haha Yea! We had the stupid river and had to keep going through that this campaign so thematically, we should've found the Sepulcher way earlier. Lol
