    I tried your steps, but couldn't get it to work. For one, the serial port didn't have permission. I worked through all the online suggestions, but could only get the serial port to have permission for a few minutes. And, the first scale I tried didn't have the ability to continuous print, even though it was more expensive. Finally, I added a RS232-USB converter and a $70 scale from Amazon, and changed setup to ttyUSB0. Now, it's working great. Changed the ASCII to number, and I'm writing the value to an Allen Bradley PLC. Thanks for your video.
