Going through this kind of family is hard enough, but to have to deal with it in front of the whole world has to be even harder. I hope she is able to make a healthy and happy adulthood for herself. Sadly, lots 😔 my family has done that to me my whole life even when I try to have a normal conversation as an adult. My mom's excuse to yell and cuss at my face was always, "because I am your mother." HATED IT. Older generations normalized very toxic behavior and it really is disgusting. They still raise their voices at the young children in our family and it makes me so uncomfortable.

I noticed her father was VERY QUIET during Alana's speech. He knows what she's telling them is THE TRUTH. He loves her....but he doesn't want to be her full-time parent. That's why he was so happy to sign custody over to Pumpkin and Josh. The pain I heard in Alana's voice as she said those things, I have ABSOLUTELY NO DOUBT that she's telling the truth. The pain was real...and she wants to stay with her sister. I truly hope she's still living with Pumpkin and Josh. That's where she needs to be. She's safe and happy with them.

I have dealt with the same thing Alana is going through except it was for visitation (I was about 14 or 15 at the time) my father was supposed to come and pick me up for the weekend and my dad skipped out one weekend all because he wanted to do "family stuff" with the woman he married and his stepdaughters. The woman my father married is very vindictive,a gold digger and thinks her family is perfect but she views me as the daughter of Satan and acts as if she can do no wrong(but her oldest daughter spills the tea about everyone else and is a total snitch) Basically I was automatically public enemy number one in her eyes and she HATED my mother so she took all her anger out on me,she was stricter on me when it came to the rules(keep in mind I lived with them in 7th,10th,11th and when I turned 20) long story short when she kicked me out I was BANNED indefinitely from staying in her house which is fine because I didn't want to stay somewhere where I'm not wanted plus at least I know what kind of witch she was anyway

my heart breaks for Alana. Her ENTIRE world is crumbling around her. I am so glad that she has Pumpkin and Josh. They stepped up to the plate.
I'm so impressed with Pumpkin! At 19, I don't think I could have done what she is doing. What a strong, loving sister, mother and daughter she is. I also really appreciate Josh--a lot has been thrown at both of them and they are both doing their very best for Ella and Alana. Pumpkin also has been doing everything Dr. Ish has recommended in order to do what she can to help June, although, in the end, an addict has to be the one to ask for help and get the help, which it seems now that June has done and is continuing to do (hopefully!). I'm so rooting for them all.

My heart just breaks for Alana. I was never wanted or felt loved by my dad. He only wanted us as extra money for income tax. His girlfriend controls all of his decisions. I went through a horrible time staying on the weekends with them... She hated my mother so she took it out on my sisters and I. Thankfully I finally quit going to their house. Now married with a beautiful baby girl and God is my true father. Praying Alana gets away from this situation and people can be grown when dealing with it.

Why doesn’t Jennifer realize that it is NOT HER DECISION where Alana stays that is Alana’s decision. She should stay where she feels most comfortable and feels is being treated best.
Honestly it’s the courts decision. I went through the same thing but the courts made me and my sibling continue seeing our abusive parent. Alana is 14, I think she can try to make sure she doesn’t get forced to live with someone she doesn’t want to, but because she’s a child she has a lot to fight for.
I was thinking she will be 18 soon enough. The judge would take her wishes into account.

Exactly because when I was 10, my parents divorced and I lived with my mom for 8 years and I only visit my dad on the weekends. And I'm 18 now and I chose to live with my dad and brother because my dad is a sick old man who needs help and my brother brings money to the house leaving me with responsibility as the household adult. And I'm not lying that's the path I chose to move back home because I have been through hell as a kid, my older sister has issues and I comfort her through panic attacks because me and her shared one room when I was a kid. I can almost relate to Alana in that level except that I don't have a step mom or a step dad. My dad's relatives are around the world, only his brother and one of his step sisters lives close to him by miles away not like hundreds of miles away. Because I knew my mom's relatives for years and I nearly knew my father's relatives and I lost my grandpa from prostate cancer almost on christmas and we were planning to visit him in Arizona. 😢 when I heard that my grandpa (my father's father) died I was heartbroken because I only saw him when I was 3 and seen my grandma my dad's mother when I was 3 months old and she was dying. 😭 I wish I can see my grandma Dee one last time and I tell her that I miss her with all my heart and soul.

My father has never recovered from my mother leaving. Long story short, he has the beginnings of dementia and right before covid we moved him here. He is literally 3 minutes from me and so can’t see him. 😞 I’m really glad that your able to help care for your father. There really is no more important job and I know it can’t be easy. ❤️
