Thank you so much for this explanation! It really helps to understand WHY the x-component is the negative of "h." It's always better to understand than to just memorize.
I'm 26 having to re-learn high school math from scratch because my old teachers just told us to memorize formulas like they're magical incantations instead of explaining or visualizing why they even made sense, so I inevitably forgot all of it as soon as those classes were over. These videos are way more effective, i almost think teachers should just put these on for their class instead of trying to teach their own way
So I'm a parent, my 14 yo just brought this to me. I last did math in the late 80s (86 - 89 high school) and went all the way to calc I before i stopped math. Was this taught back then? I remember the first two completely, remember FOIL, remember the and then the quadratic formula that was x= the -b +/- stuff. However when I looked at this vertex form it looked like nothing I've seen before. When was it introduced in US math? Where was it hiding in the 80s? I'm really curious as I don't even remember my now 22 yo doing this (older sibling) or my 20 yo kids doing it.
how i understood it, by having the vertex version of a quadratic formula, you dont need to find the derivative of the function to find the break point and you can immidiatelly find the extremum of the function
This really helped out during virtual school, this seemed like rocket science to me at first, now it’s like 1st grade math.
Bro howwwwwwwwww
It was always easy, just never explained thoroughly and/or over time
It’s 3 Am and I’m about to cry I have a math cumulative tomorrow and I have no idea what I’m doing
Rahaf Satary hope you scored a pass
coolio beano I didn’t get my grade yet but I feel like I messed up really bad
how did it go?
lmao i have math module and the deadline tomorrow *i procastinated real hard*
@@KirukatoMirekuru lmao tfw filipino school
Missed a class and needed to catch up on some work. This was quick, efficient, and managed to teach a really good lesson whilst being under 7 minutes!
This guy always makes things much more simpler, thanks !
Who watchin this in quarantine rn for school?
@SneakyAutobot me
Me
Send answers please
I thought u said whos doin quadratic in school rn
Guess the quadratic formula took over my life... i see it everywhere geez ;-;
me
I didn’t know it was this easy. I feel kinda stupid now lol
Same here
Dont
Bruh it’s still so confusing for
Chimpanzee same
The greatest explanation for this. Had to come back to this video after a few months and this is the only video that refreshes my memory.
thank you mr. salmon khan, without this I would not be able to complete my quarantine homework!
his voice is iconic
THANK YOU!!! I spent weeks trying to understand this but I couldn’t. After 3 minutes of watching this video I completely understand now!!! Thanksss 😄
This is exactly what I needed to watch!
Then 3rd......even then I feel this is best!!! superb video...👌👌👌....
I’m taking the SAT tomorrow. Hello cram session
I would imagine SATs have more difficult mathematical concepts than ninth/tenth grade material.
How did you do?
@@scourgi5274 well you gotta know the basics
@@bobjohnson9806 Yea your right.
cool explanation... logically explained.
thank you this was very helpful .💕😊
Wonderful explanation math made easy
Thanks for the video, very helpful
This saved my 8th grade test
8th? bro im my country this is 11/10th
bros graduated/ing
This is really helpful!!

this is pretty cool, I like this video a lot. I learn stuff so yeah good very nice nice
really helpful!
Thanks a lot.
i have a test tommorow :|, thank you. I now understand vertex form :)
How does this person write so good
stylus and writing pad
Thanks alot
Does anyone know if all the writing is done on a computer with a mouse, or if it's on some sort of tablet. If it's a computer, he's god.
Jordan Denny I believe its on a computer, since it seems to track his movement across the screen even when hes not writing, much like a cursor
its on a computer but hes drawing with a tablet
What is the drawing program called?
I think it's just photoshop and he's using a drawing tablet
wow, i wish you were my rl teacher

Saving me in 7th grade
What I want to know is how can I make an entire equation just by being given the Vertex of origin and the Focus?
because its not a traditional equation, not really at least. Its a relation
just realized its been 2 years so u prob know this by now lol
@@thesnowman2509 uh yeah😅 but no😭

Schools should be done away with. Just have a Khan Academy video on and get into Harvard. It's that easy
Stop reading comments, pay attention
