Damn, Corey. You do such a good job with your videos.
Your retention must be through the roof. I just watched the entire thing.
It’s funny you mentioned putting the life jacket on the deer because I was thinking the same thing but then thought, “Nah. That’s weird, right?”
I guess I’m not the only weird one.

I appreciate hearing that. My retention is probably good with my subscribers and returning viewers.
I'm sure you understand how that works, being a TH-camr yourself.
When new people find my channel, they often watch what they need, and then click out of the video. Being an 'educational' channel, people want info. Once they find it, they move on.
The buck life jacket thing...sounds kinda neat huh? I wouldn't want to be paddling up stream though!
Have you started hunting yet? I hear Michigan is a tough state on public land.

@@RelentlessSportsman brutal on public land. I used to hunt public as a kid…not really anymore.
I haven’t hunted with a bow in a long time. Family got in the way. I don’t have the time it requires to be proficient. I’d like to get back into it sometime down the road.
I’ll go out for firearms this year. November 15th.

Here in the Midwest we're not accustomed to hauling big game on foot or small boats. My best advice for getting a deer out on a Kayak is to simply quarter the animal and put it in your pack on the kayak. If you know how to do this not only is it simply easy and simple, but it also saves work. You can quarter the deer without gutting it. (Watch someone do it with an elk or moose and the principle is the same.) Take the quatres, head, and put the backstraps, rib and neck meat in some zip locks in your backpack. You should end up leaving a clean, headless skeleton with an internal gut pile. It's quick, cuts the haul weight of the deer in half, and you can stop and have a nice lunch of fire cooked backstraps. Why only Alaskan and western Elk / moose hunters do this I'll never know. Ever since I learned it I have only brought home one whole deer. Everything else I quarter out and pack it. Now part of the reason I do this is because of my back. I just don't want the pain for two weeks from throwing my back out trying to horse haul some buck up and down trails. learn how to quarter up a whitetail, trust me your back with thank you.

I know this had been out for a while, but really enjoyed it. Just bought a 10’ sit on-top for next year.
What length is your blue one in the video?
Thoughts on fourth haul out option? using a jet sled to pull a deer behind? Also was pondering the gutting vs. gutting after method for lifejacket. Thanks for all the great info!

I have a hybrid style kayak. Its for fishing. It’s sit in, but has a removable seat like yours. A deer will actually fit inside the very large opening with the seat removed. I just sit on the dear. I hunt fingers of the lake not easily accessible by boat. More work, but less peaceful as you say

That's a good way to do it - sitting on the deer.
      Good luck this season!

Using watercraft for hunting makes the journey, IMO, much better and more interesting.
