I'm surprised you didn't mention how Charlie is Guile's mentor, which is why he's better at their fighting style, only needing one arm for the Sonic Boom and Somersault Shell being so much bigger and flashier than the Somersault Kick.
Charlie was my main through the whole alpha series and x-men vs. street fighter. I always liked how he felt/animated better then guile. I don't really like the robotic eye piece thing they did with him in sf5 though. I hope he comes back in SF6 a bit closer to his original vanilla ice look.
Charlie is a fascinating character. Whenever Alpha popped up in arcades, I made sure to play him first. To see his journey unravel beyond death. I always wondered how he survived everything.
one of my favs in the sf franchise. glad he at least was in the alphas n vs games. not a fan of his sfv version tho. but its interesting. RIP charlie nash...
Something that was kind of a big deal in 2009, when Street Fighter The Legend of Chun Li was being promoted, was the revelation that Charlie's name was canonically retconned to Charlie Nash. I can't find the original article from back then anymore though, but I remember reading that Capcom themselves gave the idea.
impressive. ya nash is the master of the sonic boom using only one arm. where guile needs both. then also their flash kicks are different... nash does his flash kicks in reverse n with style. i think charlie nash was the superior fighter of the two. hence why guile also had such huge respect for him.
The very first version of Nash's death according to Guile's SFII backstory: The former elite SOF teammate from the United States, Guile along with his best friend and co-pilot Charlie Nash were missing in action during a mission in Shadaloo, Thailand six years prior in 1987 during the events where Ryu fights Sagat in the Street Fighter I tournament. After many months of being Shadaloo POWs in Cambodia, he and Nash have succeeded their prison break from their cell to escape the jungle camps. During their perilous trek to civilization, Guile witnessed the ambush and murder of Nash at the nefarious hands of a caped dictator in a red uniform, this has stricken Guile with grief and vengeance ever since. In the present year of 1993, Guile is now affiliated with the USAF under the rank of Major, and has deserted both his wife and daughter for the opportunity to compete in the World Warrior tournament as an opportunity to avenge Nash against the host of the competition whom Guile holds responsible.
Glad you gave my favorite SF character some limelight. I enjoyed playing Guile when SF2 hit for being badass, but Charlie connected with me on being cool. Hell, I got his SF5 statue! But I love him not just because of canon, he's Guile's superior/teacher and one of the strongest characters in SF timeline for being one of the few characters to beat Bison (and at full Psycho power level). Now's he's a schrodinger's cat type character, tied to the hip with Bison in that "Are they dead?...or Alive?" If Bison can come back to life, so can Charlie. As with any fighting game, NO character stays dead. Hopefully in SF6 or SF7, Charlie will be back in some shape or form.
Charlie Nash is one of the most unique SF characters, ever since his appearance in the Alpha series. It’s cool that he’s been known in SF2. He went from being killed to turning him into a Frankenstein’s Monster.
What started out as "ooh this be a great lil piece to open up the lore" at the time. Only a decade later, everytime I see him, his story, it's a big ol "Huh?"
Fun fact that you forgot to mention: Abel, a character that was introduced in SF4, was rescued by Charlie Nash from Shadaloo. He was also a playable character in the both Capcom vs SNK 1 and 2.
You sure you didn't mix Capcom vs. SNK with X-Men vs. Street Fighter and Marvel vs. Capcom 2? I've checked CvS's roster, and *Guile* is on there, not Nash. Though Kyousuke Kagami _does_ kinda look like Charlie a bit.
Lol, just yesterday I was wondering what the official story was if Charlie dying was, because he died three different times in Alpha, and once in X-Men vs Street Fighter. I’ve never played SF5, so I don’t know how that ended
personally charlie nash's name isn't confusing what so ever in the SFV story because its basically just calling him by his last name. we been calling Guile by his last name for years so why is some characters calling him charlie or nash in points of the story that hard to not understand to who they are referring to Edit: also Shadow (like Shadow Lady) is a robotic version of charlie nash that was hinted at in X-Men vs Street Street Fighter
Nash recently became one of my favorite characters in the series. What started it off was his Captain Commando outfit in Street Fighter V since Captain Commando is one of my favorite games of all time. Then, he ended up being really fun to play as and I really liked his V-Trigger. Then his lore was even more interesting. It's too bad he never caught a break. Even in SFV he still seemed to die trying to kill Bison. At least Shadaloo was finally stopped in the 6th game.
I think Capcom should let a (well established) studio convert the street fighter series into some sort of modern rpg. God knows there is plenty of content and characters to flesh it out.
Yea . . . Don't take the movie too seriously. I have no idea where these dumb ideas came from, but definitely not out of the Street Fighter lore. One of, if not the best upside is Raul Julia doing the movie for his kids (R.I.P.)
It would’ve been a cool story if M bison took Charlie’s body and Charlie (M bison) was the main villain. Imagine what the story would’ve been if guile had to take out his best friend in order to avenge him. That would be so cool.
Great Video on Charlie Nash, But in case you forgot, Charlie Nash did appear in the Live Action Mini Series, Street Fighter: Resurrection! Where Nash would locate M. Bison’s Whereabouts!

another Q i dont think it was ever solved where abel saw sonic booms? if answer is seth, where did he get the data?
i think its said charlie saved abels life on some mission. before he got taken out by bison.
@@y0gafire i heard that too, but wasnt sure its official. then i still want to know where did seth learn it?
@@vg4917 its part of his dna he can copy moves by seeing or data. so he prob got his sonic boom data from guile tho.
dont think seth fought nash. n i really dont remember anythin related to seth from him.
since he also has ryu shoryu n sims strechy limbs n stuff. so im guessing guile.
@@y0gafire but as far as im aware guile didnt meet seth until- if you are guile the final stage of the game so he couldnt copy before then? i guess he has dp and spd tho...
i thought spd dp and boom was really sick combination
The less said about the existence of another movie with Charlie Nash, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, the better. ;)
If Charlie Nash was a wrestler his entrance theme song would be BeeGees' "Staying Alive". #LOL
Charlie Nash is Guile's Top Gun boyfriend. He has that hair quaff dangling in his face because he loves things dangling in his face specifically Guile.
I love that you have done this level of research into streetfighter but still pronounce ryu as rye you
Quif? What's up with the hairstyle! Hammer pants 😂. Inner city youth jacket 😆
Do a video on Remy from street fighter 3rd strike
i think he was in street fighter 2 v anime, as a Jean Reno lookalike
My favorite character who my never return
Nash should be a main in every SF roster. I hope he returns in sf6 will buy it asap then. He has a fun movest, cool look and a solid plot to build around. Amazed Capcom use him as a middle tier or jobber character essentially. Put him on the roster please
Those are reading glasses. Like the ones in good profile picture.
Charlie (aka Carlos) is Blanka who is Also Nash???
They retconned him in the movie to be Guile's personal cocaine mule. Poor bastard collapsed from exhaustion and died for the 19th time.
16:00 did Charlie call Bison the N word ? 😂
In the famous words of big daddy top hat.... Yeeeeeeaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@joeyfarris2543 😂
No he's just making a sound.
@@SkarrGaming yes but the sound he’s making sounds like the N word when you read it .. NN-GH … it’s a joke 😂 I’m sure whoever made that picture didn’t intend to do that .. or maybe they did and I’m one of the few who read through their racist BS 🤷🏻♂️😂
Remy from 3rd strike does the flash kick better than Nash🤣
lol nah nash has the cooler looking flash kick. lore wise he is the originator of it all and master of it. but remy could be his son. or so many fan theory go...
that would be kinda cool if so. but we wont ever know cuz sf6 fails. 😂
Charlie and nash use sound hence
The term sonic
Remy uses light hence his light of virtue
Street Fighter stopped making sense when every other character became a Ryu clone.
What are you talking about?
Who knew Nash was partially based on a real fighter?
Sagat is based on sagat petchyindee
Those aren't sunglasses they are just glasses.
The sf community was calling him Charles nash as soon as it was noticed that there was a name difference
M. Bison - Mike Bison - Mike Tyson
Charlie was turned into blanka in the movie lol
Chalies cool but I rather he just be someone mentioned that motivates guile to get bison. His moves n look is too much like guile.
Can you cover Ryu next please? :)
he reminds me of vash the stampede
how?
