There are many debates and discussions that happened about the use of modification factors while designing the structure. There are two schools of thought. Many people recommend using them for analysis only. For design, no modification factor should be used according to them. Which one is correct is still a mystry !!!!
Already gone through it, and it is really very helpful and makes the concept clear. But as I have attended many offline lectures of persons who are in a good position in industry and also involved in the codal amendments, they are taking the word "For analysis" of the clause seriously. Also, I share my own experience about a high-rise building, and when design is done with modified I, some columns fall under the sway column category, which shows impractical r/f demands. While in other case, those columns fall under non sway column category and show very less r/f than first case...
It would be better if you put the conclusions that you arrived at the end of discussion in the WRITTEN FORM in the same way you wrote the comments in red colour during the discussions
what is the essence of stiffness modifier? what is the rationale for it? is it stiffness reduction for members during analysis to attract less forces? in my Kenyan undergrad engineering class, this topic was not taught at all, I have researched on it but it still eludes me. In my personal studies, I have leant stiffness attracts forces. A stiffer member will have more moments and so on. Does stiffness modifier means the structure is made more flexible during loading action? Does it mean the building will attract less lateral forces since stiffness of members are reduced? Is that not dangerous since the structure is very flexible under stiffness modifier application? A flexible member will not be good under earth quake especially the R.C walls. Is stiffness modifier applicable in analysis or in design? if it is about cracked section, doesn't it mean it is applied in design only but not in analysis.
I am thinking of taking civil engineering but all saying this this and that then CSE CSE CSE ... please tell me on opportunity, struggle, efforts 😢😢😢😢 Please 🥺
@@ilustraca is the struggle on finding job or after getting the job?? I don't have any CSE or civil engineer in contact... became frustrated listening to random dudes, people with other engineering like textiles, coaching teachers etc...my teacher suggested me to go for Civil but all others are against it 🥺 Please 🥺🥺

Very well explained Sandip

Watch the lecture.. Mystry is solved with logic

Good explanation..... I have a doubt why you are considering SLS for wind?
What's the logic?
@@nikkiboy30 After this explanation also if u need to know that, extremely sorry, I'm unable to make u understand that futher

For serviceability checks should we use crack or uncracked section?

Sir then How we can apply both SLS and ULS modifier in Single Modal Analysis?
23:00
Sir, If wind load is governing the design then which model shall we consider for design? ULS model or SLS model ?
Design should be performed in the model with stiffness modifiers for Ultimate loads (ULS Model)
