Why can't I push up into urdhva dhanurasana?

    In my case, I know realize that this is absolutely what made it so hard for me to prepare my body to come into this pose. While practicing strictly the Primary Series, I simply couldn't get myself up. But one day I found out, that I could build up to this pose by practicing bow pose. And after bow pose, it is much easier for me to get into urdhva dhanurasana. I mean yes, it is also strength in the arms that helps (as well as mobility in the shoulders and wrists! That was what I was missing as well). But as you say, I find it easier to get into this pose once I have opened up my front body. This took me 2 years (including wonderful assists by my teacher) to figure out :D

    Yoga is although a way to observe our limits without judgment... accept what your body is able today, no projection, no desire just love yourself 🙏🌱✨

    I still can’t do this pose. I just can lift my head when I use blocks and if I don’t us blocks I can just lift my head 1 cm off the floor for one second.😢 what should I do?

    I can't do halasana... can't lift my legs or low back off the ground. Nothing happens.

    No attachment, there’s so many other cool things you can still do hold that close to the heart without expectation.
    Great explanation David tension is the resisting force to lifting into that backbend. Good luck to all on our journey, blessings

    First lift lower back then middle. Watch video by Viru Yoga. To lift the head swing the body to lift the head, do not squeeze buttock muscles.
