I was charged with DUI 30 years ago. Haven’t had a drink since. Learned my lesson for sure. No one was hurt in the accident, thank the Lord. Back then the punishment was very light. Every time I watch this type of content, I try to make time to apologize to all of you for possibly putting your lives at risk. That night still haunts me. So please understand that some do have remorse. Sometimes people are just plain stupid at times. I’m very proud to volunteer for MADD. Wonderful organization. Have made many friends and try to help people with addiction. Be well, friends.

No matter what they will take you in as soon as they ask you to do field sobriety...even if you are sober! You can see many videos on youtube where this happens. And if you noticed, most of these people who drink and drive just got done drinking at a bar or friends house and hop into a car. Usually most don't hit the peak UNTIL they are arrested and sitting and waiting to do the breath machine. You don't get arrested for not doing field sobriety tests...they are volunteer tests...officers can't enforce them...they are used for more evidence in court against the person. If cop asks you to do field sobriety, they are 99% going to arrest u even if you think you did well. They are not required actually. Cops can detect intoxication fairly easily, bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, erratic behavior, falling, the smell of alcohol on the person etc etc..not hard to see those signs..
......actually nothing. In the state of Florida the field sobriety test is not required. A chemical or blood test is required or you may lose your license up to a year.

Of course we knew that before, but as a youngster knowing what’s right isn’t always enough. They made sure we knew just how much we could lose or how we could ruin the lives of others if we operated a vehicle while impaired. I’ve always made sure no one around me drives, and if that means taking their keys then I’ve done that! These days there’s simply no excuse; taking a cab was always an option but Uber/Lyft is much more affordable. Absolutely NO reason to put other’s at risk just because “you have to get home”. We need to replace the legal driving age with a legal emotional stability and maturity test. That should help clear up road congestion, less automobile accidents, save tons of taxpayer money, etc.

@@sharonjohnson8512 I couldn’t’ agree more. Since the military (when I came of age to drink), it was beat into us not to drink and drive. Of course we knew that before, but as a youngster knowing what’s right isn’t always enough. They made sure we knew just how much we could lose or how we could ruin the lives of others if we operated a vehicle while impaired.
I’ve always made sure no one around me drives, and if that means taking their keys then I’ve done that!
These days there’s simply no excuse; taking a cab was always an option but Uber/Lyft is much more affordable. Absolutely NO reason to put other’s at risk just because “you have to get home”.

We need to replace the legal driving age with a legal emotional stability and maturity test. That should help clear up road congestion, less automobile accidents, save tons of taxpayer money, etc.

Much quicker and less open to interpretation than a roadside dance of dipshittery that can put both the suspected offender and the LEO at risk.
Still just an "indicator" of intoxication that needs confirmation by a blood draw, but IMHO a better process.
