    I had example of teacher that was from some country in the Europe, he got contact with bunch of students with different accent everyday. After I think 5 years he managed to speak like a native.

    I agree, it takes a lot of effort and once you're able to get it right it takes a huge amount of energy to be able to maintain it in certain circumstances. It also depends on the level of tiredness you may experience at times; that may well trigger your native accent to come out more or less. We see most actors that are very good at the accent as long as they work with a script, because that's essentially what they get paid for. After that they revert to their natural way of speaking, like you mentioned, because it's a lot easier to express themselves naturally in the way they learned growing up and it's not crucial for them to sound American at that given point. Me personally, I find it easy to project the American sound as long as things in my life stay on track, meaning I'm generally doing well for myself and I'm satisfied. When I get bad days, I'm not really that focused, my native accent will definitely come back to some extent. So this is my next task, is to be able to sound American even when things don't go well and I'm less motivated. And sometimes it's disappointing having come such a long way and not being able to have your success there and enjoy it all the time. But this is my next challenge.

      Actors are really good at learning accents because it is their jobs. They're also able to devote a considerable amount of resources in order to achieve that goal. Some actors stay in their target accent until the entire film is complete. Martin Freeman the British actor who played the CIA agent in Black Panther did an interview where he stated he likes to stay in the target accent (he usually plays characters with an American accent) but not in character because it is easier for him to maintain the accent.
      Forest Whitaker for his role in The Last King of Scotland had to learn to do an African accent. He stated in an interview that he hired a dialect coach and spent anywhere from five to ten hours a day practising the accent. After filming was complete, it took him a couple of months to completely lose the accent and go back to his normal American accent.

    Hello Annie! Nice to see you! In that video, you gave me the hope to eliminate one day my accent. Thank you so much! Some people say that it is not possible, but I don't want to believe them:) I prefer to rely on your great experience here.

      That one of the reasons I love about this video. Annie never said it was impossible to lose the accent she said it was rare. Now this gives anyone who wants to completely lose their accent hope because there at least know it is possible.

      Judging by your first and last name I assume that you are a fellow russian. Idk how good your accent is but if we work hard enough we will get there one day! Never give up! You have a dream, you gotta protect it. People can't do something themselves, they tell you can't do it. If you want something go get it. Period.

    It takes a lot of effort and time to change your accent. Actors are able to do it because it is their job and they are able to dedicate time, resources and training in order to master that particular accent (not saying that normal people can't do if they wanted to). Their repeat themselves countless times and spend several hours a day to truly master that accent. The British actor Hughie Laurie is a prime example, he was able to change his accent and to be truly honest I had no idea he was not an American until I saw him speak in a normal British accent. Other actors include Tom Holland a.k.a The Amazing Spiderman. I found this trailer on youtube and it is not about the video although the moving animation helps but it is really about the motivational speech and determination to push your body and mind to do incredible things like doing something new. Replace the word Shen yu dancer in the trailer with whatever you want to learn and that speech would apply directly to you.

      Hugh Laurie did such an amazing job that I thought he was American. Even the executive producer Bryan Singer had no idea he was British when he auditioned for the role. Other actors who did such a great American accent and had me convinced that there were Americans until I so an interview with them speaking in there no normal accent are
      Christan Bale (British) for the role of Batman,
      Hugh Jackman (Australian) for his role in Wolverine,
      Dominic Sherwood (British) as Jace in Shadowhunters the tv series
      This person Lewis Capaldi is not American but surprised me never the less. After listening to the song below I thought it was a great song so I thought I look up the artist. Imagine my surprise when I heard him speaking with his Scottish accent. I had to double-check if it was him speaking.
      Neutral accent in song

    Good to see you again, teacher. I got a lot to ask but let me just start with the most important one for me, I really don't know how to apply the sentence stress when I talk, how can I make the content words louder and stronger without even thinking about it? I hope you have a tip on that. I will really appreciate your help. Thanks!

    I think that a non-native speaker with perfect accent might fully or partially loose it in an unaccustomed or critical situation. The later one started to learn English the more probable this to happen.

    That’s very true, I saw a movie trailer last night and I was amazed how Kate Winslet was talking without a British accent 😃

    • @abbysands9510
      @abbysands9510 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kate Winslet has done a lot of films using American accents now and has gotten a lot better. I saw an interview she did a year ago and the interviewer commented on a great job she did on her American accent. She responded by saying that she has had a lot of practice and that her very first American accent was for the role of Titantic which she thought that she did a terrible job in the accent. I might go back and watch the film to see if she is right and listen for any slips in her accent lol.
