I built a similar shelter in a ravine in Ontario Canada when I was a teenager. I was lucky enough to have access to a few bags of almost expired cement and a few hundred bricks. That made the fire place a lot nicer. As well as made my outer facing walls a little straiter. I had a deep V like you had here but I didn't dig a sleeping cave. I like that idea! Anyhow I did a V wall making a roughly square shelter with a fireplace in the back corner of the earth wall. I went back and checked on it fifteen years after I had made it and it was still there!! Roof was a bit punky and sagging. But that would have been an easy fix. Walls were brick and stone with mud and some cement. Roof was logs, a tarp and moss.
Well done, Hakan.. I love watching every second of this!.. Sila is always so cute so helpful with the digging 😁.. and I love the fact that she was alert and ready to protect you when those animals came in the night.. so precious! 🥰 absolutely love the way you did the chimney of the fire place.. you probably need to dig a deeper trench for when the rain comes, it’d be so sad to see your work flooded.. it’d be nice to see you and Sila revisit the shelter afterwards.. and you may probably need to set up a fence around it, in case animals or even humans wander around and accidentally step on the roof because the camouflaging is so perfect, no one can guess there’s shelter underneath 😅.. hugs to cutie Sila ❤️

This is the most amazing shelter I've seen. I'm under my husbands account tonight, so I've subscribed to your channel for him. He would love this build. He owns a paving co and is always talking about taking his excavator and digging a hole for an underground safe room. Of course he wants to bury a shipping container but it's also for a different purpose. Regardless, he would absolutely love this build so I've saved it for him to watch later. Your dog is adorable and it was the cutest when she helped you dig and how she trusted you and squeezed through the small space when you first completed the roof. She was hesitant and when she gave in and went for it, you were so happy and proud of her. Your smile doesn't lie 😊😊 One question, why do you check the base of the mushroom before you decide whether to pick it or not? I'm so curious and have to know... Oh and I absolutely love the fireplace and chimney! Great job all around. I'm impressed to say the least. Thank you for feeding Sila the yummy human food 💜 She's a good girl, she deserves it. Watching her enjoy it made me so happy. 😊😊

Your builds remind me of the things my friends and i constructed as kids more than thirty years ago when kids still played outdoors. Amazingly some are still there now having been found and improved upon and claimed by new generations of kids over the years. Greeting from Australia 🇦🇺
Loved it! I was having fun with some kindergarten children today at work out on the playground and was describing this underground fort. Now I’m downloading it so I can show them! We were in the sandbox and they dug a hole but not as big as yours!

I'd say I was most impressed by the way you fortified your shelter after the hogs visited that night. But probably my favorite part of your video is the relationship you and your dog have. @@BushcraftHakankarahan
I thought the same, but then I thought “he’s just renting the place. What does he care if it’s nice for the next occupant?” 😂 Also, if you want to propagate more, give them a couple shakes where you cut them to release more spores into an already welcoming area. But again, that requires a sense of stewardship. I think most of these are made on public land for the TH-cam clicks. I doubt if anyone who builds them to go viral ever returns to them. At least this guy did seem to use only downed wood. Sometimes I cringe at the number of young trees a maker will cut down for a temporary shelter.😖 I ğdo wonder about his chinking materials though. They seem to be mostly sand, and we know what happens when sand dries up…..

If you mix dried grass into that mud slurry, you would get excellent cement-like plaster for the stones.

I'd say I was most impressed by the way you fortified your shelter after the hogs visited that night. But probably my favorite part of your video is the relationship you and your dog have. @@BushcraftHakankarahan
always cut mushrooms so the roots stay in the ground so new mushrooms can grow
It's worse for mushroom if you leave a stump, it's better to pick the whole thing
They grow from the spores or mycelium, the stump just leaves an open wound exposed
I thought the same, but then I thought “he’s just renting the place. What does he care if it’s nice for the next occupant?” 😂
Also, if you want to propagate more, give them a couple shakes where you cut them to release more spores into an already welcoming area. But again, that requires a sense of stewardship.
I think most of these are made on public land for the TH-cam clicks. I doubt if anyone who builds them to go viral ever returns to them.
At least this guy did seem to use only downed wood.
Sometimes I cringe at the number of young trees a maker will cut down for a temporary shelter.😖
I ğdo wonder about his chinking materials though. They seem to be mostly sand, and we know what happens when sand dries up…..
