  • In this video we take a look at how to use the Post-Processing Stack in Unity to drastically improve the look of our visuals in our project.
    We take a look at how to get started using post-processing and work to create a realistic auto-exposure effect.
    We also take a look at how to use the depth of field effect to create a tilt-shift effect on our camera.

    Awesome! I liked how just by adding the effects the whole feel of the scene changed. It would be cool if you could show us how some of these effects can be applied to the UI. So people can turn certain effects on and off, change resolution and such. I'm no GameDev, but all this looks so interesting to me.

    For someone who doesn't use unity on a daily basis, only comment I'd give is that you go a little bit more in depth with the layers, because I wasn't aware you needed to create a post processing profile. Other than that, great video!

    We can add a secondary camera that is not rendering but is only depth check that can control the DoF effect dynamically and simulate a human eye even more. The camera shoots out a ray of infinite length and wherever it lands, is the focus length and voila, dynamically adjusted DoF effect.

    I still need to figure out how to get lighting to look good in my scene. I have like a sunset for my skybox, so I moved the Directional Light so it's basically lined up with the sun and pointing across my scene (a city block). However the scene is too dark, with buildings on the opposite side of the sun quite dark. I get that it's realistic but I want it lighter. I tried adding an Area Light, disc shape, with a 200 radius which covered everything it looked like, but changing the Intensity and other values did do squat.

    Can someone tell me what package or tool is he using to display the colliders like this at 3:36 ? In my project they only show the wireframe, I want to be able to see the faces of the box collider in green for easier placement and such, thanks

    • @DreadKyller
      @DreadKyller 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That green color is actually the post processing volume, it's rendering two things there, the wireframe of the collider, but then the Post Process Volume is also rendering it's extents at the same time as a green box. That green color is unfortunately not part of the collider, it just hap pens to take the same shape as the collider is what determines the Post Process Volume.

    The auto exposure was too slow for my liking, there is a way to make it transit faster?
    Also the depth of field isn't really smart to know where to focus and I don't think there is a good way to solve that.
    Unless there is a way to unfocus just thing's far away from the camera and that aren't on the center of the screen.

      @@isaacdishongh2432 So basically he adds a box collider to the object called PostFX he created at 02:58. Click on PostFX, add the box collider from the "Add Component" button in the Inspector. He scales the box collider (makes it bigger using scale tool, or R on windows) and he places it over the camera. For me my camera stays still so I just placed the PostFX object on my Camera, I just dropped it on there in the hierarchy and suddenly I was able to start seeing all the effects. Essentially he's making the box collider big enough that it can wrap around the camera. I hope that makes sense, let me know if you have any issues. (Make sure you also have the post-process volume, along with the box collider)
