same man I'm in the sixth grade and I can't draw worth shit (I actually posted a video with my art but...) My art skills are like trying to poke a donkey in the butt without getting kicked it'll never happen
Centari Yamokah is a Random Star im in 6th grade too. I'll probably use that as an excuse. But i think im getting better than my past years of drawing. Anx i really think that i was born to draw bec. Through drawings i can express my emotions and make it good. So i think im improving
I feel like if you wanna get really good at art you can’t stop when a drawing is good and be scared to experiment and ruin it. If you wanna get good at coloring then you have to try to color some of your pieces. Even if it turns out bad at least you got some experience. And if you really are gonna have a heart attack about ruining your art just make a copy and color that
I hate when I lose my old drawings. I want to keep them, but at the same time want to burn them up. I just want something to look back at so I can stay motivated. Looking at demented propertions, demonic anatomy, and quality colouring 😂 always inspires me to keep going because I know I can improve, and I’ve seen it happen!
I love how you finish with L. I'm 13 and my skills are at your 2005 ;-; Your a really good manga artist, your style actually reminds me of Vampire Knight.
lol when i heard that song it gives the vibes of time, you know like when you watch a movie and in the movie they have a flasjback of the main character's life and its a good or sad moment lol.
I cried half way through. I always beat myself up when I can't seem to get something right...but after seeing how much work you put into your drawings...well, I want to grab a pencil and do my best. I love your art work, and you will be an inspiration of mine Sophie-chan. I will do my best.

This is truly motivational. My drawing skills are really mediocre at the moment but you have clearly demonstrated that with enough practice, you can become brilliant.
6:09 L!!!! I draw anime too and i draw generously! Just i love drawing! Btw u are amazing!! Continue to draw epic drawings and keep up the amazing work! I hope that u will never stop to draw so awesome!! Congruts!:) 👏💕💕
Sophie, you are my inspiration. You taught me to never give up. I may not be as good now, but after watching this I feel I have more room to grow as an artist. Arigato Sophie-sama!!!!!
Oh god, looking through my old stuff reminds me of how much I improved. Of course in the past I knew nothing about proportions, anatomy or perspective. Now I can see the flaws easily and sometimes too lazy to fix them hah xD Good luck anyone out there whose trying to improve, I know you can do it, It took most of us artists A LOT of years maybe you can do it in less.
Increadible drawings, all of them. Sophie you are a huge inspiration for me. Really in life there is no limits if you just believe in yourself. Videos like this are a proof that everything is possible if you work on something that you love and i hope one day i will be able to create even better artwork. Thank you :)
I love your video. I'm new at manga and have only been Doing it for a month. I'm great at taking different pictures and recreating them, but creatively I still need to find my style. My eyes are life less, my head is shaped weird, don't get me started on bodies, the only thing I have going for me is my hair style. I love drawing and manga and try to follow hiro Mashsima(I'm so sorry if I spelled his name wrong) style. I watched this and you inspired me to keep drawing. I know you might not read this, but if you do thank you and I love your work.
Im at the age of 13 and ive been drawing since i was 9 (when I was 9 i made my first serious type art, even though it was kinda crappy) and this really just slapped some inspiration in my face. I stopped drawing manga for awhile because everyone around me pressures me to do realistic, And nothings wrong with realistic drawing, I just prefer manga type art. I caved in a bit to it, but this makes me wanna go back to drawing manga again and not care what people tell me to draw. After all, its me with the pencil, not them. :D
SwiftX8697 Well some people say that if you can draw realistic, you will be able to draw manga better or something like that. In reality I suck at realistic drawings so I just draw manga
SwiftX8697 This is how it is with me. So far I'm doing really good in manga, and I show my teachers and they say,"Why not do something, you know, realistic?" It gets on my nerves a little, but I'm really interested in the Japanese culture so I continue to draw manga. :3
Just so you guys know... this art style is so much fun. I prefer this style as well, like 100%. But just know that if you want to go into college doing art and plan to take Advanced Placement Art, in AP art they don't like this art style for some reason. I've been told by an art university counselor that my art isn't good for the AP exam. It broke my heart. I hope that changes so there is at least a standard for anime-type art. But as long as you can meet their requirements you'll be fine. It's good to do both. So you keep drawing what you like and also practice what you don't. It pays off. I hope I wasn't a Debbie Downer or anything. Mkay, I'll be on my way then. o 3 o
I am 13 years old and i really want to improve myself.Everyone said that my drawings are good but they say i am too young for a perfect drawing. They love my style but sometimes i feel really bad,-cause i really really really want to draw better.and sometimes i don't like my drawings-...But then,i saw you. What an amazing improvement!I hope,i can improve myself too.Btw,i love your drawings
Faveed Ayasei im also 13 and i know how you feel i wish i could improve more on my drawing but I learned that you can't wake up the next day and be the best artists ever it takes time and patience to improve more also I suggest you watch people that really inspire you to draw and that will help you out more to see how far you can push yourself to get better at drawing. Hope this helps 😁😄
Hi! I'm 15 years old and I'm from Brazil. I first started drawing when I was around 6 years old, and I improved a lot when I got 13-14. I'm really competitive and proud of myself, so I get mad really fast when I can't draw what I want to draw. You can improve your skills just practicing another styles! Get out of your comfort zone and try to diversify your styles. It really helped me. It's not like you can't draw better just because you're too young to do it. JUST DO IT. I see a man with 30 years old drawing and I just compete with him, practice a lot to get to that point of skills with only 15 years! It's not like I really gonna get it, but at least I tried, right? Good luck, pal. Sorry for my bad English. I tried xD
Same. I'm 13 too and I've always had a knack for drawing manga stuff, but there was always one small little detail that I just couldn't get right, and it would make the whole thing look rubbish. Watching her tutorials has taught me how to perfect my flaws, and I'm so happy I stumbled across this channel because it's made me so much more confident with my drawings.
Ever since fifth grade I have had a love for drawing dragons, and over the years, I have steadily grown better at drawing them, but since last year, I have gotten big into anime, and I have been having trouble trying to draw my own characters, but after this video I have been inspired to keep trying, thank you, and nice artwork! ^_^
It must have brought back soo many memories in your mind. When I see my old drawings I start crying thinking about my childhood and my grandma who was with me once my kittens who used to scratch my paper and made a mess they all come back to me and I still feel they are there. 😭
I draw anime, but i can NEVER draw this good!!! IT LOOKS SO REALL!!
9 ปีที่แล้ว
+Shy Fantasy Guru just practice
9 ปีที่แล้ว +1
+Shy Fantasy Guru in the 1st -4th grade I was drawing something just a little less shitty that stick figures then in 5th grade I started drawing anime . I'm pretty good now (in the 7th grade)
Me too Lucy. I've just started studying cartoon & illustrating and have started the Manga section. They keep saying over and over in my course to practise practise practise and this just proves why. So interesting and fun to see how Sophie has evolved as an artist. Well done Sophie, if you're reading this. Your work is truley inspiring :)
I'm the same! After seeing this video i decided to go threw my drawings from 2011 to the drawings i did just yesterday December 21 2013 and all i could think was wow, theirs such an improvement if you keep going. I'm lucky, that many of my friends draw and have the same interest as me and are always there to give me pointers. Your drawings are amazing, My favorite of all was 3:40 it was amazing!!!!
Wish I had kept all of my old manga drawings. But I couldn't handle the ridicule I got from friends and other people, because they didn't like manga. They only ever accepted my realistic drawings, but I just love manga. If my friends stumbled upon a manga drawing of mine, they would ask me why I had it with a weird look in their eyes and I would have to answer I just did it for fun that one time and to test my skills. I therefore tried to keep all of my manga drawings secret, but it was so hard to lie to my friends about what was in my secret and locked drawer on my desk that I once decided just to throw them all away. I figured I had improved anyways and the old ones were ugly now. But now I regret it... it would be fun to see them again and remember the good times when I locked myself in my bedroom and drew manga all night in my own little world and imagination.
omg I KNOw HOW YOU FEEL.....the only difference is my friends actually drew manga as well but they drew way better than me OTL...I always got insecure and hid my drawings from them ew e;
You shouldn't care about what your friends think. If they don't like it, fuck them.. It's what you like to do and its your damn passion. Don't care what the world thinks and do your thing! >
I've been drawing manga for 1 year now and i can say i really improved a lot! i will keep believing. one day i will reach my goal. just thanks to you i wont stop believing. thank you
Thank you for inspiring me to become what I want and pursue what I love even if many discard my abilities and don't believe in myself. I also lost hope and stop in keeping my dreams but when I met my friends I regain hope and when I also watched your videos it gives me more determination not to give up my spirit in doing my passion. THANK YOU!!...😄😄😄
+O Sparks same. I cri coz I started watching anime when I was 5 but I stopped watching when I was 8 (now im 12). I took up drawing like a month ago and I suck. T-T hating myself for not liking anime back then
Me: *watches start for abit* this looks nice, let's see the recent ones. *Skips 3 quarters in and looks* N-NANIIIIIIIII?!?! H-HOWWWW?!?! DAMNNNNN THAT'S GOOD!
Sophie Chan thank u for bring your old drawings it make feel like it tells me not to give up even I cry .......I thought I give up but then when I watch your TH-cam channel I realize that all my old drawing start to look different before my old to new and I realized that we all had to try our best to keep believing it never give up keep believing in ourselves one day we can rich our goal just like u did thank u so much Sophie chan
You don't need talent to master a skill. Drawing takes a lot of hard work! I myself only started drawing (REALLY drawing) one year ago. My first drawing compared to what I draw now is much improved. Most artists don't even realize they improve until they look back at their old art. You'll find that a lot of great artists always had to start somewhere. They got to where they were because they didn't give up. You don't need talent to be the best!
Hello Sophie. I would like to say something. You have always inspired me, since I was about 11 years old, and with lots of practice I improved my drawings. I watched your videos all the time, even though I didn't even subscribe to your channel (until now), and they motivated me and taught me a lot. Thank you, Sophie, for all the inspiration and the beautiful artwork!
I'm 13. Before I can even I already learned drawing stickmen. I started watching Anime when I was 4 (until now) That's also when I started drawing them. But I never thought I'd come this far (though I stopped for 3 years and start drawing again). And I believe that I can improve just with my mechanical pencil. This video is very inspirational thanks alot
I'm 13 watched anime when I was young until now, watched anime and read manga to learn how to draw anime after I found out mechanical pencil is used in drawing works became better. Inspired too by this.
+Ryuu Otaku Dragon if u want to become a true artist look at realistic drawing but dont take this the wrong way this also takes skill to do but to get into art college if you want to that is, manga is not the answer.
I can draw stick people with hair 👏 i know I'm amazing but due to my common disorder called laziness i cant go any farther 👏👏👏👏👏👏thank you! Thank you! X3
12 years later... still coming back. I used to spend hours watching your videos every day after school, this one particularly was so special to me. Thank you Sophie chan for inspiring a generation of artists - I still think of you every time I listen to Endless Love!
be proud of what you can do and who you are, it doesn't matter what other people think of you, follow your ideals because you are the only one who knows what you really want
You should ignore the ones who are putting you down however if they are pointing out something critical about your art I feel you should accept it an fix to become an even greater artist! Good luck on your dream! I hope you succeed BTW :D
I remember watching this video when it first came out. I was a big fan of your work and was just starting out with working on my drawing skills. Back then I used to love the way you did the eyes, they look so incredible dreamy and soft and I just love it even until this day. You're a big inspiration, though watching this again also makes me feel old. lol
I'm 12 right now and I can say I was better than you in 2005 but it gets questionable in 2006. My mom says I'm very advanced at drawing anime. I remember when I first started drawing (about 3 years ago) I watched this video and I was so inspired to be just like you😉 I really hope I can get to your level! I may post my first video as soon as I can figure out a good time and enough time and a good film app/ program.
.. Nowadays young artists can rely on useful internet sources for their influences.. In 2005, we didn't have as much inspirational artists or pieces to work off of. :) It's more advance today
OMG i wonder what my anime drawings will look like when I'm 15 or 14 cause right now im 12 and people say i draw anime really good , now i just want to grow up >///
maria luna ^ lmao same here >3< >:3 people say i draw really good im not sure if they're just trying to make me feel good tho .-. XD but this video sure does make me want to visit my future self and see what my drawings are like
+maria luna I wonder the same thing about what my drawings will look like >.< cuz i have no idea if im even good or not, as anime is hated at my school :( but i really look forward to seeing how i improve:)
Im 17 and I draw like shit but I've always admired drawing and wanted to learn it, do u think its possible to learn it if you're not exactly talented? xD
I think that if you put enough effort into it and put your ind to you can do anything so just keep practicing and you can do it trust me i wasnt a talented artist a all now look at me i have gotten first place 3 times in the pencil category at my beta convention
you know what Sophie I think your awesome and beyond amazing you are a fantastic artist I kept doubting myself about my art but then I saw it videos and draw your life and it made a cry because of you things you went through and still kept that determination and if you can do so can anyone else
This makes me feel so much better about my first drawings. I'm not the only one who started out the way I did. I started drawing anime in 2014 when I was 14 and my art has all ready improved a lot. I can't wait till I can draw as well as you though!
UMMMMMMMMMMM......MASTER PLZ TELL ME HOW DID U IMPROVE SO MUCH IN JUST 1 YEAR (2005-2006)? I BEEN DRAWING FOR THREE YEAR AND I HAVENT IMPROVE MUCH FROM MY SECOND YEAR. PLEASE........HELP ME!!!!!!!*BEGGING*
Well, uh, it also depends on your age. Say, if you're 20 with 5 years experience, you're probably better than a 10 year old with 5 years experience. There are many more differences too.
She improved by watching Mark Crilley. In fact, she didn't even start with manga. I suggest for you, is to start out with a little cartoon doodle type things. That is practicing, and I have improved as much as Sophia from doing that. Maybe I"ll start doing how to improve your drawing skills videos.....
I improved in a month. What I did was drawing everyday and doing it in all of my free time. If you want to be a Mangaka you'll need that dedication. I in fact improve daily. Just practice and you'll get better.
Does anyone ever look back on pictures they've drawn and just cringe? I do all the time XD
Oh damn XD
Holy shit my old drawing scare the crap out of me XD
lol mine scare me too
Yes
I can totally relate to you. My friends say it's it awesome and I say it's crap XP
In 2008 I was drawing horses with stick legs... 10 years later I still draw them with stick legs
If this ain’t me
I thought that I'm the only one who watches this at 2018
*I'm egyptian so I'm not so good in English😂*
Me too

yerp. but I can't do legs.
I can't drew proportions so I'm screwed aha
If you want, I can make a video on how to draw anime/manga hair
I love seeing coloured drawings but if I coloured mine, it would turn into crap. So I'm just going to stick with grayscale
白空 ikr
白空 saaame omg
I shade so good it looks like Sai paint tool lol.
(I like colouring, it's stress relieving).
I feel like if you wanna get really good at art you can’t stop when a drawing is good and be scared to experiment and ruin it. If you wanna get good at coloring then you have to try to color some of your pieces. Even if it turns out bad at least you got some experience. And if you really are gonna have a heart attack about ruining your art just make a copy and color that
Youre not alone buddy.
The feeling when you don't know where your old drawings went...
Actually i feel glad that i lost them ;)
Omg :"
Reuben and Peter ha ha meh too
I hate when I lose my old drawings. I want to keep them, but at the same time want to burn them up. I just want something to look back at so I can stay motivated. Looking at demented propertions, demonic anatomy, and quality colouring 😂 always inspires me to keep going because I know I can improve, and I’ve seen it happen!

Definitive proof that hard work is the key to success
+Jonathan Chen True.
I remember my drawings last year and it's gone by now T^T ..due by laziness, I forgot to keep those :( huehuehue
Me too. I started to draw again since 2016,
It feels
Aha..
Same thing happened with me last year 😭😭
21eNCryptO I feel you
This also gives me hope not to stop drawing anime
Ever since fifth grade I have had a love for drawing dragons, and over the years, I have steadily grown better at drawing them, but since last year, I have gotten big into anime, and I have been having trouble trying to draw my own characters, but after this video I have been inspired to keep trying, thank you, and nice artwork! ^_^
That's awesome! :P

It's fascinating to see how you get better and better as the time goes!

And here I am, with my odd structured eraser, looking at stuff I can't make, knowing it'll be different if I practice more.
Love the improvement. You have just inspired me to keep on moving forward. Thanks and love your videos
That was SOOO inspiring! I cannot believe how I wasn't subscribed to you before! :D
once you started improving
you never stopped, i see :)
god damn that comment is so touching
But now I regret it... it would be fun to see them again and remember the good times when I locked myself in my bedroom and drew manga all night in my own little world and imagination.
omg I KNOw HOW YOU FEEL.....the only difference is my friends actually drew manga as well but they drew way better than me OTL...I always got insecure and hid my drawings from them ew e;
Sianna Auvaa You should have practiced more and one time surprise them. :D
You shouldn't care about what your friends think. If they don't like it, fuck them.. It's what you like to do and its your damn passion. Don't care what the world thinks and do your thing! >
lol u draw secretly because of your Friends ?? so ur Friends control you ? dont fucking mind them, just do what you want. its not like they feed u
i love how detailed their hair and eyes are
I've been drawing manga for 1 year now and i can say i really improved a lot! i will keep believing. one day i will reach my goal. just thanks to you i wont stop believing. thank you
Lol everyone started drawing when they were 8 or 9 while I'm 13 and started last night 😂
It's alright. I'm 18 on Tuesday and I started maybe 5 months ago
I started to draw cats when I'm 8.
Such.
+Dauphi-neX4 ._. same when I was 8 I started drawing cats and wolves lmao
Levi Ackerman Now i'm better at drawing cats. hue.
I started at 10 :3
1995: stick figures
2005: smiley faces
2014: smiley stick figures.
thank you very much :D
Thank you for inspiring me to become what I want and pursue what I love even if many discard my abilities and don't believe in myself. I also lost hope and stop in keeping my dreams but when I met my friends I regain hope and when I also watched your videos it gives me more determination not to give up my spirit in doing my passion. THANK YOU!!...😄😄😄
... Everyone's saying how they started drawing anime at age 9 and 8 whilst I'm here thinking... I only started 3 weeks ago and i'm already 15.
same here ;_;
+O Sparks same. I cri coz I started watching anime when I was 5 but I stopped watching when I was 8 (now im 12). I took up drawing like a month ago and I suck. T-T hating myself for not liking anime back then
Don't let that discourage you! Just keep on drawing and eventually you will become better and better!
+O Sparks Uh oh me too, I started like a month after I turned 17, and now I've been drawing for five months D:
+O Sparks Could be worse... could be 22
Me: *watches start for abit* this looks nice, let's see the recent ones.
*Skips 3 quarters in and looks* N-NANIIIIIIIII?!?! H-HOWWWW?!?! DAMNNNNN THAT'S GOOD!
Watching this makes me want to never give up drawing! :D
Sophie Chan thank u for bring your old drawings it make feel like it tells me not to give up even I cry .......I thought I give up but then when I watch your TH-cam channel I realize that all my old drawing start to look different before my old to new and I realized that we all had to try our best to keep believing it never give up keep believing in ourselves one day we can rich our goal just like u did thank u so much Sophie chan
i am jealous on your talent. drawing is something impossible for me. i want that ability too! =D
Princess Leah This is motivating. :) I think.. without gift you cant be best, but you can be very good. thanks :3
u d0nt have t0 be jea10us i cant d0 that t00!
@Princess Leah Did you teach yourself to draw or did you look up stuff on how to draw? I want to start drawing too but idk lol. I'm no artist
3:37 That drawing is just amazing so are the rest your so talented :)
your song make me wanna live in anime world so badd :"(
Hello Sophie.
I belive in you!!!!
Same I only have a mechanical pencil too I draw really well for my first drawing once I watched her video I could draw pretty good
im 13 too i watch anime too i started watching and drawong anime at a young age too... what is this? coincidence?
I'm 13 watched anime when I was young until now, watched anime and read manga to learn how to draw anime after I found out mechanical pencil is used in drawing works became better. Inspired too by this.
+Ryuu Otaku Dragon if u want to become a true artist look at realistic drawing but dont take this the wrong way this also takes skill to do but to get into art college if you want to that is, manga is not the answer.
your drawings show so much emotion :').... i- i'm sweating through my eyes again aren't i? T~T
01:15 wait... is that the 'girl' from Boku no Pico??
Ashmate Thank goodness... I thought I'm the only one xD
I thought the same thing!!
GUMI I guess it can't be unseen now xD
+Kagamine Lover (Yuki) Lmfaoooooo!! You just ruined the whole damn video omg XD
all the sins ; - ;
I love to draw and I wanna be a artist when I'm older and no one never really takes me seriously when I tell them that :(
i hear you
wanna know what i try/ i ignore them becuse i know my drawings are cool and so does some of my friends :3
be proud of what you can do and who you are, it doesn't matter what other people think of you, follow your ideals because you are the only one who knows what you really want
You should ignore the ones who are putting you down however if they are pointing out something critical about your art I feel you should accept it an fix to become an even greater artist!
Good luck on your dream! I hope you succeed BTW :D
Evan Akamien and fix it* haha fail :P
Thank you Everyone you guys really helped me to keep drawing ^.^ Thank you guys sooo much
2005
Me: Not bad, however it's a bit iffy (even though I'm unable to draw them...)
2006
Me: Ok, that is the weirdest transition ever.
Lol
I remember watching this video when it first came out. I was a big fan of your work and was just starting out with working on my drawing skills. Back then I used to love the way you did the eyes, they look so incredible dreamy and soft and I just love it even until this day. You're a big inspiration, though watching this again also makes me feel old. lol
3:39 Oh gosh. So hard and wonderful. All your Drawings r soo good
I'm 12 right now and I can say I was better than you in 2005 but it gets questionable in 2006. My mom says I'm very advanced at drawing anime. I remember when I first started drawing (about 3 years ago) I watched this video and I was so inspired to be just like you😉 I really hope I can get to your level! I may post my first video as soon as I can figure out a good time and enough time and a good film app/ program.
Im 11 and same here....
me to
.. Nowadays young artists can rely on useful internet sources for their influences.. In 2005, we didn't have as much inspirational artists or pieces to work off of. :)
It's more advance today
Dude, your just like me, but im 15 now, i been drawing but i suck at shading, why can't i improve, and i been using only pencils\
xophan lauj I know the feeling, shading sucks. I never know where I'm supposed to shade so I never do it haha.

I CANT EVEN DRAW A APPLE WTF

It's not that u r blessed to draw,
I was like that too but I just practiced and watched videos and shit now I'm an artist

Im 17 and I draw like shit but I've always admired drawing and wanted to learn it, do u think its possible to learn it if you're not exactly talented? xD
Of course, just practice, practice and practice, also seaqrch new methods and so, good luck :)
MCShvabo Thank you, kind person! :D
ShadowTBlack Your' welcome =D
I feel you buddy
I think that if you put enough effort into it and put your ind to you can do anything so just keep practicing and you can do it trust me i wasnt a talented artist a all now look at me i have gotten first place 3 times in the pencil category at my beta convention
LOVELESS!!!
:video starts
:me
HOW CAN THIS GET ENY BETTER??!
you know what Sophie I think your awesome and beyond amazing you are a fantastic artist I kept doubting myself about my art but then I saw it videos and draw your life and it made a cry because of you things you went through and still kept that determination and if you can do so can anyone else
5:00 I'm sorry but I couldn't help but laugh at that one
IRedust ikr
it scared me
IKRRR
Hunter x Hunter best anime
I want to start drawing manga people but do I need to buy fancy color pencils and pencils?
Thanks man, I 've been practicing and took me a long time to make me one picture
TheGamerGuys You'll get better in no time if you keep practicing! ^^ good luck
***** Haha that's true. The more you draw something, the more you fingers will remember how to draw that particular thing.
This makes me feel so much better about my first drawings. I'm not the only one who started out the way I did. I started drawing anime in 2014 when I was 14 and my art has all ready improved a lot. I can't wait till I can draw as well as you though!
3:44 How could you even draw that?? :O
I CANT DO HANDS OR FEET
I'm 13
Hmm... Okay then.
Just practice and you'll get better.
no word can expresse the pleasure of watching your drawing progress 😮😍
