    7.2.4 is the way to go...my set up is the same as yours ...with couch on back wall ...was able to put the surround backs behind couch ...no problem ...you will notice a difference ! I have the SVS elevation also and i had a hard time getting the speaker mounted on the bracket to line up and sit right in their slots...phew....! but got it and put those plugs in....you made that part look so easy....should have had you come over and to do my install ...lol ....but my transporter was down ! Set up looks good! Hope you do the 7.2.4 ...got nothing to lose and everything to gain ! Of course in the future ....7.4.4??? lol

    1. Use it as heights over my tv..with less wiring and work..or
    2. Fix it to the ceiling above my listening position which is bit complex
    Let me know which is best

    Real nice setup but I'd reposition your Canton upfiring speakers and use them as back surrounds. If possible, you may want to mount your projector on the ceiling as it looks like it's blocking the main seating position on your couch.

    You run your projector next to your head?
    I had the same one and I ended up returning it due to how loud it was. It was very distracting in the room and I couldn't deal with it. I ended up going BACK to the optoma uhd60. I had returned that for other reasons (user error). Much quieter and the picture quality ended up being better. Only downsides is the massive size of the thing. Makes adjustments a bit harder.

      @@Kpaceguy I had the optoma uhd51a. It's the one that came before the 3500 lumen upgrade. My experience with optoma projectors haven't been the best when it comes to noise. The noise is not with the fan but rather the color wheel. I am sensitive when it comes to noise so it may just be me personally.

    I feel so old and out of touch with modern surround sound, like I'm Atari when they put out the Jaguar.... 7.what.huh? don't know the atmos lingo. Swapping the black and white grills was awesome. Everybody should try the Zeos technique of putting your surround channels on the floor shooting up against the wall. It works wonders. I have JBL GO 2's as surround channels in on the floor in the rear corners of my living room. It makes the surround channels image really well. It's ambient instead of blasting right in your ears. I'm going to put out a video about it soon. (Or eventually.)

    • @williamsmith9194
      @williamsmith9194 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Like that corner idea. Surround sound came out a long time ago but i was so happy when the 2 main front speakers played well that i just said I'll get to the rears later. Sometimes later came much later but still I hang on to the concept. Just slower. Love it.

    You don’t think the Vento height speakers are better than the Elevation? Also why don’t you put your projector on the wall or ceiling? System looks good!

    • @Kpaceguy
      @Kpaceguy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do think they are better BUT the room makes the elevations a better option because of placement. I tried mounting it on the ceiling but the ceiling fan is an issue. When I move we'll have everything placed better. Thanks for the compliment!

      @@Kpaceguy Ah okay, it just makes we wonder since I guess the elevations and the Vento highs could be placed the same way. Wall or ceiling. You could have a longer mount for the projector or mount it higher up on the wall. Maybe it doesn’t bother you :) Just some thoughts!

    Hey KPG!.. I'm using Canton AR-500 as front firing Atmos speakers (5.1.2). THX recommends placing them between 30-45 degrees from your head at the listening position. You mention in this video that they should be firing directly at you. It's true that the angle of the Cantons are probably less than the SVS elevations. So mine are installed at about 30º, but this doesn't direct them directly at my head (approx. 18'' above my head). So my question is, are mine placed too high?

    • @Kpaceguy
      @Kpaceguy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The cantons are hard to get correct because their angle is not steep enough. So it's not that they are too high it's that they aren't far enough away so that don't shoot over top your head. This is why I decided to buy another pair of elevations instead because if their angle.

    How do you think the svs would have sounded against the back wall facing inwards? I have the same issue you have, with the couch against the back wall, but I can't drill into the ceiling. I'm currently running a 5.1.2 with the prime's in the front like yours, powered by a Denon 4500h, with Klipsch LR&C and Infinity bookshelfs for the rear.PB3000 for the sub. I would appreciate the advise. Great video as always.

    • @Kpaceguy

The first job is to put a Rear Port on a wall mounting speaker, the second job is to put a predetermined angle on the cabinet to make speaker alignment imposable. lastly, an overcomplicated crossover coupled with a high price tag ...Seriously...
