Glade Runner- www.printables...
3D printed 1:8 scale air boat. The Idea was to design a 3D printable air boat that does not require sealing sections together. No glue, just screws. If you break a part you just replace that part. As always, the model must be easy for everyone to build with assembly videos and easily acquired parts.

Prototype testing the "Glade Runner". For the first time out, it did very well! I didn't like the steering linkage. The steering has already been completely reworked. I raised the prop 10mm and increased the buoyancy in the back. I will be testing new propellers to get the best ratios. .... Printing prototype 2 now!!
I live right on the Colorado river in Arizona and have been considering printing a boat. I really like the looks of the Glade Runner and, seeing how I'm currently working on Thumper, and maybe the Morrigan, next, I might as well keep going and print yet another Black Crow design! Seriously cool stuff. Looking forward to this and as always, really appreciate that you share these awesome designs.
LOL .. I am keeping you busy! Thanks! I have been working on another boat for two years now and it kicked my but. Boats are not as easy to design as they look. I started over on this boat with what I learned and seem to have got it right this time. It is easy to print and assemble ... and uses fewer parts than a 4x4s. The only down side is that it has three 36 hour prints. It takes almost two rolls of filament.
What are you doing to me lol another im gunna have to do got the rear mid and the front is printing for the morrigan gunna need a big shelf lol but seriously great work dude
Thanks! I understand the shelf space problem. I usually end up with three of each model before I am ready to release a finished product. My hobby room is shrinking.
@@RockyTop_BC just finished the body just need to do top of frame I found the bit on center that clip into front part diagonally were really tight not sure if it was my printer
@@stulofty2008 Thank you. I will check the tolerances. It doesn't need to be tight.
Do you think this would work well on snow? How much would you estimate the cost to build this at?
I don’t know how well it would work on snow. It does amazing well on smooth concrete. It works well on a concrete gym basketball court floors and even linoleum floors. It takes about 1.75 rolls of filament. Amazon prices: Motor $22, ESC $49 propellers $8 battery $34 screws $20 Radio transmitter and receiver start at $39 and go over $500. The Aliexpress prices are usually half to 70% of the Amazon prices.
@@RockyTop_BC Very cool! I already have a transmitter as I've been in the hobby for a while, looks like a fun cheap build!
@@carsoncrook702 Update, it goes fast on pine needles but not on wet grass. Full trust is slightly more than half the weight of the boat.
@@RockyTop_BC Sweet! Are you planning on making a trailer for the glade runner?
I designed and printed a trailer for the Glade Runner. Pictures are in description on Printables. I have not released it yet. I am waiting to see how many people are interested in the Glade Runner. You are the second person to ask about a trailer.
