As a producer/remixer dave lee aka joey negro was far beyond his peers because he understood the principle of incorporating disco into the emerging house sounds of the early 90's! it took m.a.w nearly 10 years to realize this!
Wish the recording was less clippy but this is the absolute gold standard for Detroit House. IYKYK. The keys have so much energy and the vocal is so smooth. Peerless house music. That bass line is unreal and the toms are out of this world.
Heard this back in 94 but never knew the artist. Over the years it has been running through my mind. Today I just journeyed back to a epic track. On repeat
WoW !!!! This does it for me everytime...late 80's into the 90's was jst clubbing n music for me best days of my life...always shakin ma shimmy n shakin ma ass smilin' and feelin goooood ....Wot a tune.. Epic !!!
My compliments, cuz your mix is taking me like a time machine right back to the fantastic early clubbing '90's!! The time of my life!! I'm 40 now, I was 20 back then... Figure it!! Wow .. (sigh...)
dave lee was one of the most hard working and prolific mixers and producers back in the 90's, and i think i can safely say this was his best ever remix, tho its a very hard call to make cos he done so many great ones...dave and along with marc kinchen were the kings of this period thanks so much for upping this
Evening, Mr Lee is still here and delivering more wonder. Imagine a disco-orchestral version of the Six Million Dollar Man theme?? Look up 'Metamorphosis'; Dave's new double album as "AC Soul Symphony" in style. Bought a copy and we are all dancing - even the oldies. Probably the "SWAT" (police show from the 1970s) theme next .. And the original is on YT and still a moody tune. Night
Evening, just to say a big thanks for posting this classic. Have the original 12 from BMR in Soho (I think) and Dave's new project is well worth a listen - 'Metamorphosis'. Double album on vinyl including a wicked remix (with orchestra) of the $6M Man theme. If that doesn't get knees trembling then I dont know! Music is a staple in our family and 'He Is' is another Dave Lee work of art. It's on here (green CD) and first heard when doing well over the speed limit on the M3 years ago. No drink or drugs, just banging stuff that Mr Lee has been doing for 30 years. God Speed Dave and your team. This stuff will be the soundtrack when we go to the Moon, Mars and elsewhere hopefully. 'Me gone' in the words of David Rodigan, MBE.
Great remix. I actually heard it as part of a radio mix back in the 90's. Ironically, I never knew that this existed as part of a whole song. The horns at the beginning of this mix, led into a mix with this instrumental over the top of an acapella track of "It's Not Over-Let No Man Put Asunder"...dope. I think it was Stacy "Hot Wax" Hale on FM 98 WJLB-Detroit.
Wow!!! Used to play this everyday on my MP3 player. I too have this on vinyl. There is another mix which is really impressive too. Thanks for the memories.
Did anyone on here used to listen to Paul "Trouble" Anderson in the early 90s? He used to hammer this tune, along with all the other classics that Dave Lee was knocking out at that time. Check out his unreleased mix of Alison Limerick's "Getting It Right".
i agree this is such a great forgotton deep disco house classic .1 st heard it in 92 .reminds me of that summer along with t diva - picture this ,chic - your love, sandals -profound gas, marathon - movin, ann consuales - do it for love ect ect

Absolute gold standard. A real masterpiece. Sooo many memories of the best years of my life attached to tunes like this 👌🏼

Couldn’t have put that better myself!
