    Definitely pretin that wire & connector. It probably would've went a lot smoother

      Honestly I'm not trying to be rude but it was painful to watch, with such a powerful iron this should have been a one minute soldering job.

    Is the soldering gun the sold-out RadioShack 150/230W Dual-Heat Soldering Gun with Light? Catalog №: 6402187 ?

      I’m not sure if something like it is available anymore. Radio shack is a different entity now, even though the name lives on

    That 6AWG would fit there even when pre-tinned, if it won't, hit it with a hammer until it does, cut a tiny piece of solder wire drop it in there, pre-tin the connector, wick the excess if needed, shouldn't take that long to solder that, you're just cooking that plastic.

    How come I've never heard of these before? 🤔. I'm trying to see if I use these connectors for my xlx2 system that is going to go into my Outcast 8s.

    My 70 watt iron wasn't cutting it, then made the mistake of using a torch and melted it :( time to order more connectors and a soldering gun

    could it help to flux the wire?

    • @turnerhayes5303
      @turnerhayes5303  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could try that, but because the wire just barely fits in the solder cut, I’d worry about that bulging the wire. But you could try doing that once the wire is inserted into the cup before applying solder

      @@turnerhayes5303 oh okay thanks. The reason I ask is because I am using a Weller 100/140 watt soldering gun but it doesn't glow like yours and doesn't melt as fast as yours. I think it's too cold.
