  • I’m very excited to have the Torrent T2 Pro freestanding kicking and punching from Century Martial Arts.
I’ve been using the Wavemaster XXL/2XL for years at the various martial arts schools and ILoveKickboxing studios. I’ve broken 2 because I like to kick hard and sometimes forget to tighten the bag.
My biggest concern about the Torrent T2 Pro was a lack of reviews. Hopefully, this short unboxing video will help you with your decision.

this bag definitely seems like its just made as a slightly cheaper version of the wavemaster XXL

I'm not sure if it costs less to manufacture, but it retails for $100 more than the Wavemaster XXL. Both items are products from Century Martial Arts.

@@HauNgoDotCom thats interesting. the main pro i like about the Torrent bag is that the water sealant is inside the bag itself meaning it takes less floor room.
At any rate, i upgraded to a everlast hanging bag. the response feels so much better when i strike it.

Hello @Hau. Nice video. I have seen a lot of your replies, but I need some confidence buying this bag (because it costs quite a bit, especially in my country). You filled it with water yes? Is it easily tipped over? Sand would do better I assume. I am quite a heavy hitter and sometimes would like to sink into the bag. Been boxing for a good 7 years, but hanging a heavy bag is not an option. This standing bag seems like the best bet. Hoping you see my comment and reply! I'd be really helped out. Thanks for the video!

Great video...Thanks for posting. Seems like the T2 has a lot of movement especially with front kicks. Do you think sand would help keep the base from moving so much? Also...Do you have any training experience with the Wave-master 2XL and how it compares with the T2? I can’t decide between these two bags. Thanks I’m advance!

Thanks! I couldn't find any videos on the Torrent T2 Pro (other than the ones from Century Martial Arts) so I wanted to put one up for those who are also considering this purchase. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Yes, both the Torrent T2 Pro and Wavemaster 2XL/XXL will move with a strong front kick. There's no getting around that if you have heavy legs and like to knock things around. In class, I group 2-3 Wavemasters together so that they stop the main one from moving around.
I've been using the Wavemasters periodically since 1996 but it wasn't until 2014 that I was working with Wavemaster 2XL/XXL consistently with a IloveKickboxing membership.
I've broken a couple of Wavemasters 2XL/XXL and various instructors have told me to tone it down with the kicks (can't help it). For my own purchase, I was looking for something more durable and I think this new design helps.
The stem is much thicker and longer than previous designs. The Wavemasters would often twist/loosen and a strong kick will snap/break it at the joint if you don't tighten it immediately. With a Wavemaster, you have to tighten it a few times each round. No so with the Torrent T2 Pro.
Adding sand will make the base heavier but the movement might persist due to the floor material (plastic base on top of artificial grass).
Personally, I don't mind the movement because I'm working through a bad left shoulder. I would prefer the bag give/move a little instead of redirecting the punch back into my shoulder.

@@HauNgoDotCom Awesome feedback...Thanks so much! I ran into the same thing with only finding T2 videos from Century so, I really appreciate and am thankful for your video.
Im leaning towards to the T2. Can you tell me if, for example, you’re throwing a combination of punches / kicks, does one bag rock back and forth more than the other? When training with a partner, I expect the bag will rock but, I don’t want it to slow us down so much that we’re constantly waiting in between combinations / sets. I also don’t want to jam my punches bc the bag is sliding / rocking into me after every punch. Can you provide feedback on this too? Thanks again!! Osu 🤙🏻....

@@jlasorsa I’ll have to bring my tripod to class and record a short clip on their Wavemaster 2XL.
I’ve been meaning to put a yoga mat underneath to see if that helps with the sliding.

@@HauNgoDotCom Cool no worries, most likely they are using 2xl pros as they are designed for commercial use according to century rep whom i spoke with. I was in the market for a freestanding bag that i can go to town on as Covid prohibits use of the MMA area at the gym i go to. I ended up going with the 2xl pro; the only real issue i have with it is im on the second floor and using it seems to shake the entire building (A memory foam topper under it seems to help some what), I was just curious how it would be if i went with the torrent t2 pro. but from watching your video it seems the t2 pro would make even more noise/shaking because of how much more it moves comparing it to the 2xl pro.

    • @HauNgoDotCom
      @HauNgoDotCom  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@phantomskate84 Ha. Yes. Absolutely.
If you like lifting the bags with your kicks, then the weight slamming down on the floor will cause the shaking and noise.
I plan to add 25 pounds of sand to see how it lifts and moves.
Let me know if you find a solution to your problem?

I have the wavemaster xxl ghost edition and I store mine in the corner then move it out in the middle of my floor when I use it.
