Roundhouse vs Front Kick on a Wavemaster XXL Freestanding Punching Bag
For JLAS75, here’s a short clip of a Wavemaster XXL for comparison (against the Torrent T2 Pro which I will refer to as the TT2Pro)
I didn’t have my punching gloves so I had to hit lighter as to not injure my wrists.
The roundhouse kicks were about the same intensity as the previous video on the TT2Pro (80% power). Here’s that previous video: th-cam.com/video/_PZgROuQSNo/w-d-xo.html
I didn’t have to do much to push the bag over with the front kicks because I have heavy legs (5’9” at 185 lbs). Both bags will tip over for advanced students on the front and side kicks. You just have to control your power.
That said, both bags (2XL and TT2Pro) are excellent choices and they are worth their money. The 2XL has a bigger base and will be more stable.
The TT2Pro was a personal decision because (1) had had broken two 2XL bags in the past and (2) I wanted a narrow base for my kicks.
Good luck with your purchase!

Torrent T2 Pro - Unboxing and Testing
มุมมอง 17K3 ปีที่แล้ว
I’m very excited to have the Torrent T2 Pro freestanding kicking and punching from Century Martial Arts. I’ve been using the Wavemaster XXL/2XL for years at the various martial arts schools and ILoveKickboxing studios. I’ve broken 2 because I like to kick hard and sometimes forget to tighten the bag. My biggest concern about the Torrent T2 Pro was a lack of reviews. Hopefully, this short unboxi...

Good video.
Hi! Are there any metal parts on the inside where you connect the actual bag to the base? You gave me the idea of getting one to leave in the backyard, but I don't want it to get any rust if theres any metal inside. Thank yoi!
Have you tried filling with sand? Is it stable for power punches/kicks or will it knock over?
This looks exactly like the FightCAmp bag
Do you recommend filling with sand instead of water?
Hello, are you still using it? How has it held up for the last 2 years?
how did this handle your side kicks? how much sand did you put in this?
Was it filled right up with water or just part way?
This is alive punch bag, you hit it and it's running backwards...😂 Nice video.
Hello, thanks for the video ! I'm a big dude so I wonder how much do you weight? Have a great day !
Is that base totally full?
great video! have you tried to use sand to make it more stable yet? would love to see that cus I'm considering buying one for my room but I don't want it to move around as much :( haha
Rr
How tall is it?
Sand will give the base more weight than water
Good stuff bro! I live in Vegas too and just ordered one!
Pretty good. Very helpful video. Interestingly having kids punching it also gives me a better objective idea the stability
Can you move it to other areas easily? Like store it in corner and then move it to middle if you want to start punching it?
I have the wavemaster xxl ghost edition and I store mine in the corner then move it out in the middle of my floor when I use it. Mine is filled with sand so it takes a bit of strength to move it. I also have the original wavemaster but I keep that base outside and just detatch the bag and bring it in.
Did you not fill the base with water or sand? Moves around way too much.
Not in this video. Just water so far. Will record a new one.
I want a freestanding heavy bag that can take my hard kicks, im a big dude and I kick hard. This looks kinda flimsy, will it hold a lot better with sand ?
I was wondering the same thing. I bought one anyway because I just need something to kick. Seeing how it moved a lot with his kicks I will be putting sand and water in it. When it comes in I’ll let you know how it goes bro.
@@KKzErstorung hey bro, can you give us an update on your purchase? I am really on the fence cause I too kick hard and don't this thing flying around.
@@xxdohkooxx it’s a decent bag if you’re practicing drilling and getting reps in. It’s not a good bag to improve your power like heavy bags or thai bags will do. But I will say I’m very surprised at its stability. I have not been able to knock it down with high kicks. This bag is best for practicing and teaching low and mid kicks. It’s a bit expensive but to me it’s worth it.
@@xxdohkooxx another thing….if you plan on getting this bag. I suggest getting those foam floor tiles and taping it to the bottom of the base. Just to protect the base more and keeping it from sliding to much.
Stay away the bag quality is Garbage the base is glued together and look like it was done by gorilla glue no joke lol
What do recommend?
USE SAND BRO in the base
Hello @Hau. Nice video. I have seen a lot of your replies, but I need some confidence buying this bag (because it costs quite a bit, especially in my country). You filled it with water yes? Is it easily tipped over? Sand would do better I assume. I am quite a heavy hitter and sometimes would like to sink into the bag. Been boxing for a good 7 years, but hanging a heavy bag is not an option. This standing bag seems like the best bet. Hoping you see my comment and reply! I'd be really helped out. Thanks for the video!
how tall are you?
I’m 5 feet 9 inches. You can find this bag at the manufacture’s site www.centurymartialarts.com/training-bag-collection/torrent-t2-pro-102162k
@@Hauser702 interesting....from what i can tell they said total height should be 67 inches? which is like 5'7 lol...not saying you're lying about your height but it's weird their measurement is a bit off. so for a 5'11 person this should be fine right
@@JJJinXXX I'm 5,11 I got this bag it's about 2 inch higher than my eyebrows when I'm in my stance it's as tall as me
@@JJJinXXX it's a good height its something I was worrying about too before I ordered it but it's a good height for 5.11 guys. I'm in love with the bag
How would this fare with maybe sand or rocks or pebbles in the base as opposed to water?
@enigma I'm certain that it would be much harder to move with sand in the base. In fact, I have a bag of 25 pound play sand waiting to be used. For the moment, I am using water as I need to move the bag in and out of the rain. I'll upload another video when I add sand into the base.
I use sand. Much heavier than water. Certain ones has suction cups on the bottom
Thank you for this review of the torrent t2 pro! Ive been looking around for a decent free standing heavy bag for my training. I really appreciate it thank you
You're welcome, Michael. Good luck with your purchase!
Thank You, when you say you broke the wavewaster was it the 2xl pro with the locking nut or just the regular XXL. also can you post another video if you decide to fill it with sand/gravel .
Yes, I'll do that. For now, I'm working to rehabilitate my should and get back into hitting the bag regularly.
I wasn’t aware of a 2XL Pro. I’ll have to drop into an ILoveKickboxing class to see what they are using (XXL or 2XL Pro)
@@Hauser702 Cool no worries, most likely they are using 2xl pros as they are designed for commercial use according to century rep whom i spoke with. I was in the market for a freestanding bag that i can go to town on as Covid prohibits use of the MMA area at the gym i go to. I ended up going with the 2xl pro; the only real issue i have with it is im on the second floor and using it seems to shake the entire building (A memory foam topper under it seems to help some what), I was just curious how it would be if i went with the torrent t2 pro. but from watching your video it seems the t2 pro would make even more noise/shaking because of how much more it moves comparing it to the 2xl pro.
@@phantomskate84 Ha. Yes. Absolutely. If you like lifting the bags with your kicks, then the weight slamming down on the floor will cause the shaking and noise. I plan to add 25 pounds of sand to see how it lifts and moves. Let me know if you find a solution to your problem?
this bag definitely seems like its just made as a slightly cheaper version of the wavemaster XXL
I'm not sure if it costs less to manufacture, but it retails for $100 more than the Wavemaster XXL. Both items are products from Century Martial Arts.
@@Hauser702 thats interesting. the main pro i like about the Torrent bag is that the water sealant is inside the bag itself meaning it takes less floor room. At any rate, i upgraded to a everlast hanging bag. the response feels so much better when i strike it.
Great video...Thanks for posting. Seems like the T2 has a lot of movement especially with front kicks. Do you think sand would help keep the base from moving so much? Also...Do you have any training experience with the Wave-master 2XL and how it compares with the T2? I can’t decide between these two bags. Thanks I’m advance!
Thanks! I couldn't find any videos on the Torrent T2 Pro (other than the ones from Century Martial Arts) so I wanted to put one up for those who are also considering this purchase. Glad you enjoyed the video. Yes, both the Torrent T2 Pro and Wavemaster 2XL/XXL will move with a strong front kick. There's no getting around that if you have heavy legs and like to knock things around. In class, I group 2-3 Wavemasters together so that they stop the main one from moving around. I've been using the Wavemasters periodically since 1996 but it wasn't until 2014 that I was working with Wavemaster 2XL/XXL consistently with a IloveKickboxing membership. I've broken a couple of Wavemasters 2XL/XXL and various instructors have told me to tone it down with the kicks (can't help it). For my own purchase, I was looking for something more durable and I think this new design helps. The stem is much thicker and longer than previous designs. The Wavemasters would often twist/loosen and a strong kick will snap/break it at the joint if you don't tighten it immediately. With a Wavemaster, you have to tighten it a few times each round. No so with the Torrent T2 Pro. Adding sand will make the base heavier but the movement might persist due to the floor material (plastic base on top of artificial grass). Personally, I don't mind the movement because I'm working through a bad left shoulder. I would prefer the bag give/move a little instead of redirecting the punch back into my shoulder.
@@Hauser702 Awesome feedback...Thanks so much! I ran into the same thing with only finding T2 videos from Century so, I really appreciate and am thankful for your video. Im leaning towards to the T2. Can you tell me if, for example, you’re throwing a combination of punches / kicks, does one bag rock back and forth more than the other? When training with a partner, I expect the bag will rock but, I don’t want it to slow us down so much that we’re constantly waiting in between combinations / sets. I also don’t want to jam my punches bc the bag is sliding / rocking into me after every punch. Can you provide feedback on this too? Thanks again!! Osu 🤙🏻....
@@jlasorsa i own a wavemaster XXL. it seems a little more robust than this one. you just need 2 people to properly tighten it onto the base or else you are constantly going to be tightening it up.
@@jlasorsa I’ll have to bring my tripod to class and record a short clip on their Wavemaster 2XL. I’ve been meaning to put a yoga mat underneath to see if that helps with the sliding. In the meantime, check out this video of my good friend who recently got a Wavemaster 2XL. th-cam.com/video/Ztux9uMijwE/w-d-xo.html Both bags are great. Good luck with your decision. 🥊
