Pete ! Thanks man ! I’ve got a 2000 XC 700 like scooters and never been much of a mechanic guy but she didn’t wanna start this winter and I’ve got my carbs all out and cleaning now thanks to gaining so much knowledge and confidence from your vids! Me and my friend Mike are obsessed with all your videos here in Maine! Keep it up they’re funny, informative, and down right just fun to watch!
I was skeptical about your real opinion of old polaris sleds, I knew it, your a die hard fan of all great 2 stroke sleds and your appreciation shows 😁 great vid, gotta love those 2stroke sleds!
Hey, love watching your vids! A little tip that you might not know that will save some energy is to blow through the gas filler hole creating pressure in the tank and the gas will go to the carbs in seconds. Saves a lot of pulling!
Put a golf tee in the line when you remove it and it will keep the fluid in. Thanks for sharing your videos, lots of good tech info with great videos and a few laughs along the way. .
I got a 1991, but I've owned a 99' before and man are they fun. They're controllable, Have enough power, and those sleds are very reliable. Fans can even get to 80 mph.
First of all - you are hilarious. Second- you are a great mechanic. Finally- you are a good friend. Wish you were my neighbor! I’d supply you with all the beer and donuts you want to keep my sleds running!
Hey Pete I have done the mouth around the gas filler hole before it works but the easiest way is to take a rag and wrap it around the filler hole and use compressed air it works so much better. 🍻
Great video Pete 👍👍.. at least you got some good donuts out of it... Great job on the Polaris back in the day I had the same kind of sled it ran forever.... Have a good week..
I too believe that’s a 1999 I have the same sled with the same decals. I’m so glad you didn’t rip that track off while doing donuts. I was sure waiting for it.😬
I love watching your videos you are a very smart man I've got a 2000 Polaris Indy 500 I would love to have you work on it if you are only closer to Gaylord Michigan you really know your stuff
I've stopped buying brake clean by the can, get yourself a 20L pail from Wurth/Napa/Piston Ring and a pressurized sprayer. You can also use a normal spray bottle to squirt it on and then hit it with a blast of air from a compressor and everything comes right off. I always clean the outside of my parts as much as I clean the inside too though, so I go through cleaner like crazy. The cans with a straw come in handy for carb cleaning, but I use carb cleaner for that.
Hey! I have a 1997 Polaris XLT Touring, and I got ripped off by a repair shop up in Hali. Both trailing arms have fallen off and the bolt is stuck in the hole. We just spent $2000 to get it repaired the first time and they have fallen off again :( If you want content, hmu! Love the content and keep up the great work!
the belt deflection just refers to how tight or loose the belt is. to adjust the amount of deflection is done by adjusting the secondary clutch sheaves. not all are done the same way, some use shims where as others use an adjustable setup with some sort of adjuster bolt. you'd have to check what setup you have to adjust it properly. hope that helps! 🍻
Another great Video, You have now made me want to get a Snowmobile But I would need to move back to where I grew up in NE Washington to really use it without having to haul it like 50+ miles, Much nicer to just go outside fire it up and go. On a Side note I have a 2000 Durango that needs a Heater fan replaced so I will have to do the same as you did on the Dodge, Maybe I will record it as soon as I know how to Bleep or Edit the Video. My videos are no where as close to as funny as what you make, Unless me making a idiot out of myself is funny to others.
thank you! I'm glad you like the videos! yeah those heater boxes can be a bear to get out sometimes but sometimes ya just gotta sit back and relax..have a beer...and enjoy the fact that ya don't own a Ford lmao 🤣🍻
mom had a 95 indy 500 efi and was stating to have problems so i swapped to carbs gas mileage now sucks and has about 10hp less but it was the only way to keep it running as efi parts were becoming obsolete and/or super expensive
Its hard to measure a jet diameter, but easy to ream one to a size. If you find that a jethole is corroded, or otherwise gone too big, heat it up, solder it up, blow out excess solder while molten and ream to size.
it might take a few beers and some busted knuckles lol but if you have the complete donor sled for the swap then I'd say you should be able to get er done! 🍻

How bout putting some pressure in the tank by blowing through the tank inlet so you don’t have to pull it 19 times!! I just blow into the tank with my face, I know it’s crude but it gets the job done

And does Kyle know how lucky he is to have a friend/mechanic whom not only knows what he's doing, but knows how to look good doin it? What would cause the studs to do that? To long as a pose to the lug ? Or just put on to tight when installed?
Does the brake switch work like a pressure switch with a diaphragm?
Wow! I almost did that job on my 05 ram. Then a logging truck took care of t for me :D
