Interview with Alessandro Bianchin on the grand challenges of small wind turbines (part 3):
”We need back incentives to catalyze the technology and these incentives must not be intermittent, says Alessandro Bianchini. “It is also important to promote specific policies and contracts for small wind to be included in the electricity grid.”
Besides these two main actions, the authors propose 10 key enablers to significantly develop small wind turbines worldwide. These include improving aeroelasticity and control strategies, focusing on airfoil aerodynamics, providing open data, accurate performance and resource assessments, validation and verification, standardization, cost and life-cycle analysis, grid compliance and integration, shared incentive programs, and addressing social acceptance.
