Very recently, I got into a situation wherein I will have to rely on call recordings. As luck would have it, I had switched on call recording on my android Samsung phone and kept my primary sim unchanged to my new iPhone 12. I now use iPhone 12 as a secondary phone. And thank you Samsung for putting in free call recording in your software.

To all the people complaining about Apple and Google's decision, hear this. They made this intentionally. In America and some European companies, it is illegal or partially illegal to record calls outright or without prior knowledge. Hence, they removed that feature to avoid court time. But by doing this, they are also leaving us out even though we don't have such laws. They don't care about us!
Nowadays global variant of Xiaomi, Oneplus,Samesung, Oppo, all are coming with stock google dialer which doesn't allow to call record as it announces that call is being recorded. So buy an android phones which has company based dialer

You can visit the apps and clear the app data that will clear all the information they stored. Besides, I rather like targeted ads to be shown to me. I have purchased some useful stuff through them. They reduce the price of an iPhone only after the launch of the new model. You cannot use chargers or data cables interchangeably with iPhone. With Android you can. iPhones come in only a few models. With Android there are hundreds of models with different shapes and sizes to choose from. Also the price point of Android gives you a large variety so you can buy one as per your budget. The apps in Android's App store are mostly free. In Apple's app store most are paid. You can download songs and videos in Android for free. With iPhone you can't. If you use a PC many files would be incompatible with your iPhone and vice versa. I can go on but I believe you get the picture.
It's not illegal in India, Unless a Third Person records a conversation of 2 people. Mobile phone companies are able to provide Call Recording feature in India only because it's not Illegal here. We are Indians and we follow Indian law.
It's possible to use other tricks to record but it's not easy. 1. Using third party voicemail services (paid) that connect to your call 2. Using a hardware recorder 3. Recording by putting on speaker All are not practical though

ASUS give Auto Call recording by default. ASUS phones uses ZenUI Phone Dialler. It also doesn't tell the other person that the call is being recording. All the parties call gets recorded automatically or per contact basis. That too the File name gets saved as per Caller's name automatically to internal folder. All the above things happens automatically.

I got the iPhone 13 for my mom's TH-cam channel. But I used it for the majority. I had a Samsung earlier and it always bugged me. I am paranoid that way. Now, on 30/1/2024, I wanted to get away from the Samsung ecosystem so I got myself a OnePlus 11 256GB variant. The Google dialer is there for important future calls, from the perspective of the court. And for my regular call recordings, I get ODialer which records without announcement. The Google Phone app records after a chime or a declaration. The chime can be easily mistaken for a notification alert. That is the only good thing Google did in the app.

I believe recording telephone conversations is illegal unless you inform the caller that you are recording the conversation. Maybe that's the reason why iPhone does not support this feature. Because in most jurisdictions of the world, call recording is against the law, unless both parties consent to it. Because Apple makes both the phones, as well as the software on them, they would be an easy target of ministries of justice around the world. There isn’t a call recording functionality in Android either, and for the same reason. However, you can easily find such third-party applications, because neither Google, nor phone maker, nor mobile operator, fully control distribution of such apps. For iPhone, this is not possible, since Apple has full control of app distribution, and they won’t allow apps that provide illegal functionality. An apple is a hardware company unlike google or Microsoft which are software companies. This might change in the future.
Recording Calls without the permission of other party is illegal in many countries. It can never be considered a binding verbal contract too. Recorded calls can't be considered Evidence coz it can never be established whether the call is complete, not trimmed, spoken in full `hosh-o-havaas` (cognizance of the matter) or not.
Recording Calls is ILLEGAL in many countries too, which makes sense. Acc to logic, It can never be fully established through an audio file, whether the talk was casual, fully complete, in full sense (hosh-o-hawaas), legally binding and authentic (not a mimicry artist). Thus, it is never considered an incriminating evidence.

At those high-end price and processor power, the performance difference doesn't make a difference in real world tasks.
So buy a good Android phone instead :)

Call Recording should be 8nbuilt and comes in Samsung Android devices and some other devices. From Android 9 and above, you can't install and use an app from Playstore to record calls. If a app promises that, it requires root. So be aware. Check before you buy if call recording is something you want.

SAMSUNG doesn't allow users to do call recording in WiFi Calling mode. Whereas ASUS gives call recording option irrespective of WiFi Calling or VoLTE Calling.
Same thing happened with me, though I didn't filed a criminal case. I let it go, the person also let it go.

I once recorded a call that my chacha had made to my dadi Ji. There was some tension between my father and chacha Ji. I just simply started recording and gave the phone to grandma. Later when I heard the call, I couldn't say if there was anything bad said or not, as I had no context. I forgot about it and about a week later I remembered about it and made my father listen to it, turns out my chacha Ji is a backstabbing snake. My father never trusted him again.

I used a pixel for 2 years and it stopped allowing to record calls post android 10
To all the people complaining about Apple and Google's decision, hear this. They made this intentionally. In America and some European companies, it is illegal or partially illegal to record calls outright or without prior knowledge. Hence, they removed that feature to avoid court time.
But by doing this, they are also leaving us out even though we don't have such laws. They don't care about us!

I have a recording of all my calls and contacts and other phone data since 2014 😁. This includes my 3 years of iPhone 6 Plus use which I jailbreaked and used a ton on cool features like auto call recording, auto phone backup to drive etc etc

Is it mandatory to produce only the original device where the calls are recorded or is it ok produce a pen drive / hard disk where these important stuff is transferred to a safer place / safety reasons / to clear up space in the original device for further recording?
Nicely explained. Also, If you buy a Samsung flagship smartphone these days, the camera quality is absolutely top notch and the software is very well optimized. You also get crystal clear call recording ofcourse and you even have the option to play those recordings in 1X, 2X speed and you can also skip silences in the conversation.

Google has now restricted auto call recordings on new phones.. It can be initiated manually followed by a message alerting the caller that the conversation is being recorded

You can visit the apps and clear the app data that will clear all the information they stored. Besides, I rather like targeted ads to be shown to me. I have purchased some useful stuff through them.

iPhones come in only a few models. With Android there are hundreds of models with different shapes and sizes to choose from. Also the price point of Android gives you a large variety so you can buy one as per your budget.
The apps in Android's App store are mostly free. In Apple's app store most are paid.
You can download songs and videos in Android for free. With iPhone you can't.
If you use a PC many files would be incompatible with your iPhone and vice versa.

Call recording without consent is actually illegal in many countries .
It's not illegal in India, Unless a Third Person records a conversation of 2 people. Mobile phone companies are able to provide Call Recording feature in India only because it's not Illegal here. We are Indians and we follow Indian law.
It's possible to use other tricks to record but it's not easy.
1. Using third party voicemail services (paid) that connect to your call
2. Using a hardware recorder
3. Recording by putting on speaker
All are not practical though

ASUS give Auto Call recording by default. ASUS phones uses ZenUI Phone Dialler. It also doesn't tell the other person that the call is being recording. All the parties call gets recorded automatically or per contact basis.
That too the File name gets saved as per Caller's name automatically to internal folder. All the above things happens automatically.

I got the iPhone 13 for my mom's TH-cam channel. But I used it for the majority. I had a Samsung earlier and it always bugged me. I am paranoid that way. Now, on 30/1/2024, I wanted to get away from the Samsung ecosystem so I got myself a OnePlus 11 256GB variant. The Google dialer is there for important future calls, from the perspective of the court. And for my regular call recordings, I get ODialer which records without announcement.
The Google Phone app records after a chime or a declaration. The chime can be easily mistaken for a notification alert. That is the only good thing Google did in the app.

I believe recording telephone conversations is illegal unless you inform the caller that you are recording the conversation. Maybe that's the reason why iPhone does not support this feature. Why other phones have this feature, I can't explain. Please tell me, I'm a non-legal person, how a conversation recorded on a phone is submitted to police/court? Won't the police/court ask you to submit the phone for investigation/examination/ evidence?
You could always submit an official court order to procure call list and recording from TRAI

Call recording is not allowed in iPhone because it's against privacy laws. Even Google pixel/stock android doesn't have it. Only Chinese companies offer this and samsung. It's illegal if you record without giving a disclaimer to the other person

The reason iphones dont have call recording is because its illegal in most american states. And I know people will say but why block it in India, its basically because they are too lazy to implement software features that arent in compliance to american laws. Not just apple, google has also blocked call recording on android devices nice pie, only custom skins have it, now google dialer is also rolling out this feature but it doesnt allow it automatically and also it announces that the call is being recorded before starting call recording. Only samsung phones are having a decent inbuilt call recording feature now.

Because in most jurisdictions of the world, call recording is against the law, unless both parties consent to it. Because Apple makes both the phones, as well as the software on them, they would be an easy target of ministries of justice around the world.
There isn’t a call recording functionality in Android either, and for the same reason. However, you can easily find such third-party applications, because neither Google, nor phone maker, nor mobile operator, fully control distribution of such apps. For iPhone, this is not possible, since Apple has full control of app distribution, and they won’t allow apps that provide illegal functionality.

It can never be considered a binding verbal contract too.
Recorded calls can't be considered Evidence coz it can never be established whether the call is complete, not trimmed, spoken in full `hosh-o-havaas` (cognizance of the matter) or not.

Acc to logic, It can never be fully established through an audio file, whether the talk was casual, fully complete, in full sense (hosh-o-hawaas), legally binding and authentic (not a mimicry artist).
Thus, it is never considered an incriminating evidence.
