There are of course downsides of not having a spell, but would a nail upgrade ammend this?

I think the gameplay would be a lot more interesting if abilities were conquered as a team. Example: if a member of the team gets VS, the other team player also gets it. If a member gets dash slash, the other gets it too. This would play hugely into routing strategies because while one player gets false knight, the other rushes to greenpath. While one player goes to one dreamer, the other tackles another dreamer. This would also make it so that no member of the team lags behind and also the matches would be faster while improving the team aspect of the gameplay. This could also increase the relevance of optional abilities such as Ddark furthering the route from the traditional any%.
@@a006delta I don't know how these mods work but in the 3 vs 1 challenge they do something similar. The chasers get mothwing cloak only when the speedrunner does. Also they get an extra mask at some other point. Maybe a similar solution would be enough, but then again I am not an expert on mods. If it worked it would be a lot of fun to watch.

I'd prefer it if as soon as an item was claimed no one else could get it. Have to strategize how to get claw or how to play when only one gets it. Only one gets the stag stations (like monopolu), charms are one only, etc. Not a shared inventory but they share an inventory and it's divided up by finders keepers law.

You got fire decimating enemies like Hornet and false knight and speed running shit like the mantis claw. I just downloaded the base game on PS4 and I get stick progression wise after mantis claw and dream nail. This is just a long way of me saying. Fire your damn skilled and I enjoy the content so much
I was really sad that I was struggling with ummu in order to get the speedrun achievements but I watched this and realized that current patch ummu is a “scary” and a “4 cycle is good” thanks for the accidental support for my speedrun goals!
Have you considered running a free-for-all BINGO race with a custom made BINGO card? It would highlight smart routing and adaptation of all the runners. Plus, it could open up areas runners don't normally go to in Any% runs. I think it would be fun content to watch, and it wouldn't necessarily have to be gated behind getting all dreamers, doing WK, THK, etc

I think it's better that only one needs to finish, because it invalidates certain strategies and it can make a team lose even though one of them had a huge lead.

It's a legit strategy but there's no fun as a viewer. Fire was miles ahead and Ax had the opportunity to sabotage the other team. But what is fun about a one sided victory? If Ax had to beat the Hollow Knight too, then it would have been a much closer game where Pest and Skurry would have an advantage given that both were actively trying to win.
The thing is, in the second game, they were *all* at THK. The only reason as to why Pest won that game was because the others didn't have time to stop him with their own THKs. Now, imagine that but in a 2v2 setting. You wouldn't even be able to tell who is who. Sure, it might be more fun to watch, but it'd be way too hard for both teams. And also, it can still be considered teamwork, as similar tactics are used in Minecraft manhunts, where at least one hunter chases the speedrunner, while the others get ressources, and no one calls it a bad strat.
