Hi Mike & Yvonne. Your trip was a regular one for us (in a car) to La Mata for a beach walk. Also our regular 10am Sunday morning group walk from the phone box at the top of El Chapperal, through the lake park, cross under the 332, & down the road to the Sea View. Coffee + Tostada for under €2 & back the phone box. The staff at the Sea View are excellent, also good wifi. Keep pedalling! Brian
Hi Brian, thank you very much for watching and for your great comments. We have been to the Seaview International a few times and it's always been great and we would recommend them without hesitation.
Good morning Mike & Yvonne. A very pleasant way to spend your Sunday. I cannot believe the temperatures the area is still enjoying! For the 1st time in 15 years, we took our 1st Sunday market trip to La Mata. We really enjoyed it, so much so, its now our favourite, so we'll definitely be going back! Thanks for the tip on the curry house.....thats in the book for next time too! Well from a dreary and dull Morpeth ( again) 😅........adios for nooo!
Hi Graham, great market at La Mata and a great place to visit as you well know. Thanks for watching and for your great comment. Best wishes, Mike and Yvonne.
@BetweenTheLakes afternoon Mike & Yvonne 👋......thanks for the reply.....hoping your day is sunny on this Tuesday 🙂.....have a great week ahead! Best regards, Graham.
Nice video, I was wondering if you knew why only people use La Mata Beach on the more southern side near the town itself and not further up where the park is? It always seems to look empty!
Hi MyammiRose, thanks for watching. We don't think it's anything sinister, it's just a really massive beach and that's the quiet end. Further up at Guadamar it's the same. The beach is very long and deep so maybe everyone is spoilt by the choice....Hope you are well, best wishes, Mike and Yvonne.
@@BetweenTheLakes Hi, Mike and Yvonne. Yes very well thank you..Yes I see now, it is a very long beach...but I was wondering if it was because of this part of the beach more prone to cross-tides, or if the woodland area behind it was protected or something...either way its a beautiful place I and area with the two lakes. - Best wishes!
Great little video. Love La Mata for a coffee before church. Nice to see you using the bikes, everyone does the beach walks so good to see something different. 👍
Thank you so much for sharing this! We are looking at La Mata for spending some months during the cold and wet Dutch autumn and winter. There's some nice appartments for rent at reasonable prices when you book for two or three months. Looks like a nice place with everything one could need close at hand. For now we're still working full time, but in a couple of years we can retire. Maybe next year we'll do a testrun for a couple of weeks. See how it feels 😊
I have rented through Casas las Dunas a few times - very helpful Dutch speaking staff. Last time I was at Parque Aromatico, 6:46 in this video. The watermill park is definitely a favorite.
Hola Zoya, gracias por mirar y por tus lindos comentarios. Ahora estoy jubilado, pero antes fui productor de video y operador de cámara para eventos en vivo, deportes y entretenimiento.
Hi Yes it's good now, about 26 degrees today, but starting to cool down. The coldest month is January so you will have it at its worst. It can still be very pleasant and sunny, just a little cold at night.Hope you have a good trip. Best wishes, Mike and Yvonne.
Great Ariel shots in this Vlog Mike. This is one of my most favourite areas so peaceful! I know it’s quite a long way from 😮your apartment but have you been or heard about the Moroccan Tea rooms in the countryside near Crevellente
Hi Sharon, thanks for watching. No, we haven't heard about the Moroccan Tea Rooms, sounds intriguing, We will have to see if we can get there, think it might be too far for the bikes though. We are always looking for new places to go so thanks for the tip. All the best Mike and Yvonne.
@@BetweenTheLakes yes definitely too far on the bikes. Maybe persuade some friends with a car. Think you might find it on the internet, you will not be disappointed!
I have the same bikes and the problem is keeping the batteries charged when not in Spain. I have gone through 2 sets in 4 years and at €200 each it’s expensive
Hi Tim, yes they are very expensive, ours are now 240€ each. We have gone through 2 in 6 years. We were told by the shop to store them at half-power, this helps to make them stay healthy and last longer. Thanks for watching, Mike and Yvonne.
Hi Sean, thanks for watching. I've worked out a possible guestimate for how many kilometres we may have done on the bikes. We must have done around 250 days on the bikes in the six years we have been here. Using an average of 15 kilometres per round trip, that would be 3,750 kilometres. Not accurate but as near as I can get. The bikes have been very reliable, all I have had to do is basic maintenance, and replace the batteries once. We have had zero issues with them.
Cheers for that and for all that working out.PS I arrived on the 19th at the bus station from the airport I thought it was on fire for a second before relising it was fog interesting how it settled here and there in the town, all the best thanks again
Can you tell me the wattage of your e bikes? I ask because there is an EU wide limit of 250 watts these days. I use an 800 watt battery (living in an EU country) which I really need for range and especially to cope with hills. Because of the mobility problems I need the e bike for everyday errands. Do the local cops really enforce the 250 rule or turn a blind eye? I see many higher wattage bikes for sale in the area you live in. Many thanks!
Hi, Our bikes are 250watt so Okay, I think. We bought them from a large department store, Decathalon, so I think they would stay on the legal side of things. We have never been stopped by police or anyone regarding the size of the motors. Weve been riding them now for seven years with no problems. Tanks for watching and for your comment, all the best, Mike and Yvonne.
Hello mike and yvonne i am travelling to torivieja next month i am going to look at areas for buying a property. Have you any tips to look out for like flood areas and places best for pensioners. I would like somewhere with good public transport links please. If you dont mind i welcome your feedback thankyou. Marie.
Hi Marie, that's a difficult question for us to answer as we only know mainly about where we are and can tell you about that. We are in Altos del Limonar and although the rains, when they come they can make the roads look like rivers. That applies to lots of areas but it doesn't necessarily cause flooding as the drainage is good in most places. We like the areas around El Chaparal, La Siesta, Limonar and San Luis. They are all well served by bus and have plenty of commercial areas, parks (the new one at La Siesta) and bars and restaurants. We always say you have to come and spend time here to get a feel for the place and make sure it's what you want. Everybody is different. We have done many videos about the different areas which will give you an idea about them. We are very happy where we are as it's got all we need and we can walk to town in 25 minutes although we get about on our bikes which is even quicker, and its quite flat so no massive hills. Thanks for watching, all the best Mike and Yvonne.
Sorry Mike, a negative post. If you don’t do the strap up on the helmet, you may as well not wear one. Otherwise a great video and love the new camera.
Hi Graham, my apologies for not fastening my helmet, I’ll be more careful in future. Yvonne also gave me a telling off for the same offence. Best wishes, Mike and Yvonne
Hi foalteam, The camera on the bike is an Insta 360 x3 and the drone I would recommend for starting is the DJI Mini 2, if you can afford it go for a DJI Mini 3 pro which gives you a lot more tracking features. There are many TH-cam videos about them. The new DJI Mini 4 has come out now also, don't much about that yet as I haven't researched it. Thanks for watching, best wishes, Mike and Yvonne.
