I remember the video when you installed the accumulator on this system, great repair Dave.. I never trust those peanut LPC, had too many issues with them pulling into vacuum
Good Video ! Yea, One thing bad about pump down systems. if L p. control fails causes all kinds of problems worst is compressor failure. Something to be said for just Knocking it off & on Temp control & a Contactor when it has an accumulator. no chance of failure. less parts. less problems. i'll bet u could sell those guys a Maintenance. Tell them you will swing by every 3 Months Vacuum Evaporator & Give system a once over. Clean condenser Every 6 Months or as necessary. Did u get a Chance to Replace the Contactor ? Good video.
I’m not a fan of the sweat in LP controls. Dual pressures are fine but I have been using the threaded ones with a core depressor for a long time now and change them and the core every 2-3 years or so during a maintenance. Haven’t had a leak or failure in ~12 years, I do the same with fan cycle and high pressure switches. Cheaper than a dead compressor at midnight. I also have wondered if I could get away from pumping down just using an accumulator and solenoid valve, not willing to experiment with a customer though
Good thing it didn't smoke the motor, running in a vacuum like that. It would've done whole lot more damage. Been noticing a lot of the recips are getting scarce too. Where I work we have a shit ton of alliance recips in split system A/Cs and the replacement is a scroll "kit". I'm sure the government has something to do with it.
My shepherd is a hunter. She recently killed a rabbit who foolishly thought it could go through our yard. Big mistake. I've yet to take her fishing. My wife was keeping a few coy fish in a large plastic pond. One day we were late to get home and feed the dogs. The fish were gone. The pit bull ate them. The wife was angry. I had to work hard not to laugh at his resourcefulness.

I love those collapsible hoses! They are heavy duty, steel lined and I can carry about 400' up to the roof in one trip!

Way to go Dave i remember that one also I believe you had to use suicide cord to scab power. Thanks brother for the video keep rockin!!
If it was pulling in a vacuum for a while would the reformat you reused potentially be contaminated?
Only if you had a leak
How do you like those Eli tech gauges so far ?
There ok so far

Olá Dave. ABRAÇOS.
"Why did the compressor fail?" Because Dave worked on it instead of Hack and Moe? 🤪🤪
My guess is the years of abuse from the dirty coil caused flood back damaging the reed valves.
clogged coilititus
