I grew up on this song, I grew with a bone disease in my hip which left me with a severe limp and having to go through several surgeries, I could never run right and I was always the slow kid on the playground. When I first heard this song I cried because I would always get called names and got laughed at because I couldnt run like the other kids. They always made me chase them. My parents told me I listened to this song at least 5x a day every day. This song always stuck with me.
This song has always been special to me. My little sister has Down Syndrome and went to a program that had stuff to help them feel like regular kids and they played this song in a video they made for each kid of the fun they had. It was amazing seeing all of the kids being themself. They were all so sweet, loving, and kind to each other. We need more kindness and love in this world.
He is an amazing man. He played for the children at the Arkansas children's hospital many years ago and held my daughter on his lap while singing to her, she had just had her 4th brain surgery at the age of 3.
This song always makes me cry because I was bullied all through school. It was so bad that my senior year I attempted 30 years later I'm doing much better. And I realize that I am worth loving.
You always do a great job with your videos! As others have said, I appreciate that you let the video run without constantly interrupting it then give great insight into how you feel about it.
I can relate to what you are saying in your review. When I was growing up my parents bought us what we NEEDED for school! We learned to appreciate whatever they could afford to buy for us. Shoes and clothes were what was on sale. To this day I still shop that way. The way I see it... Why spend a crap load of money on a pair of jeans when I'm just going to go out and get them stained up doing whatever job I'm doing? My wife gives me grief because I only replace clothes when they are completely worn out. When I was growing up I never could understand what the big deal was with the kids that had to have nothing but the brand names and the newest tech. For that matter I still don't. To each his own. Keep on doin' what you do sir! You've got a ton of fans!
This is only my 2nd writing to ur reviews but this one is heart felt and I truly appreciate you telling ur stories and just being honest. I’ll say it again, you sir are very blessed and I will continue to watch ur reviews. GREAT work 👍🏼
Mark Wills "Nineteen Somethin'".... pretty much sums up life for us who grew up just a little before you were born.... yes, I remember the day Elvis died and was in 10th grade when the Challenger blew up. We were watching it in school. Also the song "A Different World" by Bucky Covington. They're both blasts from the past for those of us who grew up in the 70's and 80's. And we survived to tell the tale!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been overweight my entire life: a teenager in the 70s when being overweight was an anomaly. I've cried myself to sleep a lot. My daughter has Aspergers Syndrome. I'm crying right now. I'd give ANYTHING to take Robin's pain from her but all I Could do was show her how amazing she was. I am still learning to not despise myself for existing. I'm doing better. Robin is now a cheerful loving young woman. Thank you Jesus.
I’m a Tennessee Lady n I’ve been there while growing up and as an adult I went to 46 different schools so was hard to make friends when you was just gonna leave them behind knowing you was just gonna leave them behind thank you for doing this song so much it meant a lot.
That song is personal to me because I always had disabilities all my life. Kids always made fun of me when I was a child and even as an adult because I can’t do something as my sister did . I have epilepsy and heart disease and as an adult I have Asthma. I had trouble running when I was I was younger and I did have Braces on my teeth and I have a learning disability but I can tell you I worked at a hospital for twenty-three years until I got my pacemaker put in .
When i was in elementary school I was bullied mercilessly, to the point that I'd pretend to be sick so i wouldn't have to deal with it. At about 8 or 9 years old i got up in front of the school and sang this. It calmed some of the tensions for a while. This song brings back some memories for me. Such a great song
Racism, prejudice, and discrimination are an inexplicable collective of stupidity. “Blessed are they who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.” Matthew 5:10 Ty, you’re such an inspiration. I’ve said it before, and I’ll continue to say it as long as you have a home on TH-cam. There is a light and a spirit in some people. Know that you have it. I love how you don’t interrupt the songs. When they’re done, you speak on it. Keep doing what you’re doing! You are blessed and a blessing to all of us! May our Father in Heaven continue to bless you and your family through CHRISTmas and the New Year!
I love this song and the message. My kids wanna go out and buy my grandbabies every toy they want and i sat them down yesterday and told them I asked for 3 maybe 4 gifts in my life bc we were poor BUT I got sooo stuff they have no idea about.. They wanted to know my favorite gift... I said Wisdom.. i got it all the time and it never came wrapped but It was definitely the best gift I ever got from my sing mom....
Oh my God! This song gives me chills. The message is so powerful and so NEEDED today. I've never heard of this song or singer before. This message is one I have always believed in, and tried to teach my children. I believe we should have reverence for ALL living things. ALL of God's creatures should be respected and loved, including humans.
Another great song by Mark Wills Is" I wish you were here" about a husband that goes on a business trip doesn't make it home but after his wife find out he passed she received a postcard from him. It's a pretty interesting song.
Love what you are doing young man! I am 58 yrs young living in the beautiful state of Texas! People are going to need each other, country music has a many beautiful stories that can help out young people through their journies! God Bless you!
Fun fact Mark Wills wrote my 8 yr old son because has being bullied to tell him it would get better. A friend of mine went to school with him.. He was super night Do the Mark will 19 something'
It's ok Brother, I remember our lights cut off, no food in the house, me 10 years old going down the road, with my sorry brother in law, to a farm and stealing corn to get something to eat.. And I went to every elementary school in High Point, NC getting kicked out of so many rentals and all... Hard times but you wouldn't be who you are now...
This song was one of my favourites as a kid (still is) and got me through a lot of hard times. I was bullied a lot for various things and this song somehow always made me feel a little better.
I was just talking about this very thing last week that when you're a kid EVERYTHING matters and if you only knew then what you know now, that even though things were hurtful then and yes, it does follow you into adulthood, but just realize that it doesn't matter and that the bullies are no different and no better than you and when you're grown it all equalizes out and you don't care anymore. Everything can be SO devastating to you when you're growing up. I wish kids knew how bad they hurt each other. Great reaction and really enjoy this channel.
I live in Tennessee. I'm so sorry you went through that. I had my son when I was 19 and I was blessed to have friends and family that would help me at times but they didn't have a lot themselves. When I was young we lost our dad. My mom worked day and night just to keep us fed and a roof over our head. She died from cancer when I was nine years old. I was ten months old when daddy died from heart problems. This was before public assistance etc. Whatever we had it was from picking cotton or helping with the garden of whatever. I feel blessed because our family was so close and still are close. I feel sad for kids nowadays. They don't know what that kind of happiness is and unfortunately never will know. I have a roof over my head and a safe place to sleep every night and I thank God every day for it.
I'm the youngest of 5 boys, My brother who is a year older was slow and I was the only one who could interpret what he would say when we were kids. I can't tell you the number of times I got in fights with kids that made fun of him back in the 60's and early 70's. When this song came out it brought back some very tough memories.
Mark Wills is an awesome guy . When this song came out , I met a person who went to school with him and my son was being bullied at school. She contacted him and wrote to my son . It made a huge impact on his life.. you should do it was 19 something from Mark
MRM, Thank you for your reaction. I too was a bit of a scrapper when I was in school. Not just defending myself, but jumping in the middle of taking up for the underdog. My parents told me “You were right, you handled the situation wrong.” Valuable lesson from my parents.
You're voice is so calming and I like how you don't talk overly loud and fake. You earned a new subscriber even though I see I am late to the party! Keep up the good work!!
my daughter came to me and told me a girl needed shoes because her mom refused to buy her any. i let my daughter buy her shoes to be proud of. Im in Tennessee and kids everywhere sometimes need help. I'm so proud of my daughter for caring.
This is one of those great songs, that I'd completely forgotten about. Thanks for playing this, it's a great reminder that it's no harder to be kind than to be cruel.
I have ten and twelve year old girls. When I see them hold doors open for people and offer help to elderly loading bags in the Walmart parking lot or wanting to give water and food to people on the street corner...I am so proud and I know I've done something right. I like to lead by example. One of my oldest daughter's best friends is that little girl in a wheelchair. She loves helping push her around school and helping her. Makes my heart happy! This world needs more of that. Thank you for this!
MRM i completely agree. I lived with my mom and she raised me to be independent and work for what i want. I did not get name brand clothes and shoes. (Except the school clothes my dad bought once a year.) My brother lived with my dad. My dad bought him all name brand clothes and shoes. He gave my brother anything he wanted. My father enabled him to do nothing with his life by not making him work for it. I have not lived at home in 20 yrs. I have an amazing husband. We have 3 children. 1 in college and the other 2 start next year. My brother on the other hand has lived with my dad all his life. He is 39 and in a drug rehab now still expecting my dad to buy and do everything he needs. Has a 6 yr old son that he has nothing to do with..
My dad showed me this song when I moved in with him in the 8th grade but before that from the beginning of school till the end of 7th grade I was bullied I finally moved and have had a good life since then but I listen to this song and it brings me back
I'm not a country fan (I'm more of a blues/rock fan). But THIS SONG is just GREAT and something I hope children will learn early on. We all want to mold our children into good, empathetic people.
I just want to make it very clear that my like that I gave this video had absolutely nothing to do with the song. It's a great song but...wow... my heart💕 I listened to every single word and I heard you. I can relate. Without going into detail I will say I survived my childhood. You are brave when you share things from your personal experiences. Keep doing what you do. You reach the hearts of others. I know you did mine!
I grew up poor too. Always lived in apartments, always wore second hand clothes. Christmas never brought me the "in" toys or name brand clothes. However, I never demanded much more than what I got because I was thankful for the things I got, and I knew we were poor. Like this song though, I got shunned by kids who had things better. Kids can be cruel, especially in a small town.
I particularly love this song and it means so much too me. I was born with spina bifida. I was bullied 2 no end. It was a nightmare. This song speaks volumes 2 everyone who thinks they are different or not loved. Because we definitely are the same and we are all loved! GOD BLESS💙

@@Modern-Renaissance-Man You are such a kind, fun-loving, and caring spirit. I really love ur videos and I have nothing but ♥ & respect 4 you! GOD BLESS U MY DEAR FRIEND💙
So you just put yourself at my age with Buddy's. I also remember "Walmart special". You know... I've been there myself, growing up low income in Mississippi. But I mostly ignored it, kept my nose in a book all the time. This song is beautiful. The message is beautiful.
This song is what I sing to my daughter who is Autistic. She relates to music. I tell her she is perfect and God made you exactly how you are supposed to be.
PLEASE do "19 Somethin" by Mark Willis. It's a great nostalgic song. I like listening to it with my mom because she remembers everything in the song which seems pretty cool.
I was bullied a lot during elementary school, but they didn’t win. I have been getting up in front of people and singing for years now. It’s a miracle that I went from a bullied introvert to a performer. Even though the bullying was awful, I used that pain to express myself on the stage and also at the altar.
Modern Renaissance Singing where? I don’t have any decent recordings. The few I have are from the County Fair and at church. I need to find to an app or or update my my sound system to get myself a decent quality sound.
It was 8 of us we were poor my mom and Dad's did the best they could but we're made fun of too just to make us feel bad I taught my three boys never make fun of other kids they would take up for other kids that was pick on
Oh man I had forgotten about this song, I remember listening to it growing up and thinking some of it reminded me of me, a foster child who's own mother didn't want her. As a grew to an adult I learned she placed there for my own protection. My Grandpa always said " There's no shame in being poor, it's just darn inconvenient"
One of my all time favs
Mark Willis I believe is an associate pastor.
The singer's name is MARK WILLS...THANKS FOR PLAYING BEAUTIFUL SONG.
He is an amazing man. He played for the children at the Arkansas children's hospital many years ago and held my daughter on his lap while singing to her, she had just had her 4th brain surgery at the age of 3.
I remember when Mark started out in a tiny hometown bar called the Buckboard. I was a teenager and my mom sang there and he ‘s a truly good guy.
This song always makes me cry because I was bullied all through school. It was so bad that my senior year I attempted 30 years later I'm doing much better. And I realize that I am worth loving.
Stay strong you are valuable. They were simply unhappy with themselves
god bless you sir
Youre so open minded. Thank you!!! We need more people like you . Thank you
Written by Mark Wills, this is a great song with a great message. Thank you!
Bless you man, and the way you speak. Appreciate you, we need more role models like you for our kiddos.

Why do people have to question this the real message is we will all die so why treat eachother differently one day we will all be the same in the end

The 1990s Country had so many great songs with great messages. The 90s was one of the best Era for Country Music :)
This is a new one for me! Very pleasant and easy listening. I love story tellers. Thanks!

Great song! I remember this from a long time ago! Thanks for the review! Namaste!

As my bias Suga in BTS said in one of the songs he wrote "it's easier to love someone else than yourself". ( That is the song love yourself answers).
Amazing brother I see it in your eyes you really go deep with these county songs
I'm not a country fan (I'm more of a blues/rock fan). But THIS SONG is just GREAT and something I hope children will learn early on. We all want to mold our children into good, empathetic people.
Re-done with Home Free 24 years later. Worth a watch.
I'm from Tennessee and I don't understand this kind of behavior! The area I was raised up people helped people! GREAT SONG!
Mark Wills had a great song called Wish You Were Here.

Not meaning to split hairs here but it's actually Mark Wills (rhymes with hills) as opposed to Willis, as in Bruce.

I can really tell that you're a good man, Renaissance Man!!!

It’s a miracle that I went from a bullied introvert to a performer. Even though the bullying was awful, I used that pain to express myself on the stage and also at the altar.
Is that you singing praise and worship?
Modern Renaissance Singing where? I don’t have any decent recordings. The few I have are from the County Fair and at church. I need to find to an app or or update my my sound system to get myself a decent quality sound.
Hard headed woman by Wanda Jackson! She's the queen if rockabilly! She has such an amazing voice. It's so dirty and raspy, but still so pure.
